Yeah she's essentially playing a strategy that ```looks good``` for right leaning people who think they're "too smart" to vote for Trump but will still do it anyway when the time comes. People can project some of their more principled views onto her. In reality, she's just as bad as the rest but since she's the only woman on the stage, she can pretend that she's a better representative for them.

I mean the actual "personality on the sideline job" really doesn't need to exist which is how Charissa Thompson was able to make up sideline reports and no one noticed.

The only real useful part of them is getting injury updates, but I can have that filter to the announcers the same way other information does, I don't need to cut to someone else to tell me the news.

They are. Announcers are not, they are calling things that are happening in front of them. Sideline reporters ask questions and report what they hear or see to the broadcast.

Announcers also "report" on the things that they talked about in their media run-throughs with the team ahead of time, other people around the league who have commented to them, etc. so why aren't they reporters to you?

Sideline reporters aren't actually "reporters". And by that I'm not trying to say "oh what they cover is lesser so it doesn't count", I mean that their role isn't journalistic in nature in the same way that Al Michaels isn't a journalist.

Idk like it's kind of weird when you push too much subtext on it, but I don't really think anyone in the situation is taking it that way and it's not particularly pushing any "harmful stereotypes" or anything.

It's just a longer way of just saying "your kid is cute" which I don't even think people always say that because they actually think the kid is cute either.

I don't think they'll publicly be like "Oh I was wrong to support him!" or anything. He'll just die and his influence will slowly wane. Some people will jump on the next opportunity while others will just not engage.

I grew up evangelical and I think the "Israel needs to exist for the end times" thing is overblown as a motivation (or maybe I just had an abnormal experience). Most people's support of Israel in my area just came from good old fashioned Islamophobia.

Looks like Klay and dude in Minnesota got handsy with each other and then started pulling on each other. Warriors are 1-4 in their last 5 games, they frustrated as fuck. Draymond got ejected 2 games ago as well. Klay is being called washed. Not surprised this happened with all those considered.

yeah I don't watch enough Timberwolves games (can you blame me with how good they've been in my lifetime) but usually in NFL games you see a few things building up over the game or you have a big hit that people are responding to, so I'm just surprised for people to be super chippy two minutes in or w/e.

I played Super Mario RPG so much when I was younger that I actually became sick of *every part of the game*.

Which, tbf you have to be a good enough game for me to play it enough to get to that point.

I would say that art isn't just about "presentation". There's background and intentionality around "Fountain" that contribute to it as an art piece. And different people have different dividing lines for "art" within visual art regardless. Not every thing that I personally draw is art, but I might take a collection of little sketches done on gum wrappers on flights and put context around it and present it a certain way such that I am at least *claiming* it's art. Hypothetically you could put some appropriate context around your images and try to call them art as well, but if it's just "this is a generated image of an anime looking character" that's not even you presenting it as art, if that makes sense?

Yeah if I'm a rich person and I commission an artist to draw something and the picture is great, I don't get "artist points" for telling them exactly how I want it to look. Prompts are the same thing even if there's faster turn around/feedback.

Alongside all of the reasons that have already been brought up, people are just generally not good at "objectively" evaluating their economic situation. And it's understandable why, because it's one of the major sources of anxiety/stress in people's lives and you don't get points for getting it right.

I think once the US started the Manhattan project, the science was already in a place where it was a matter of "when/where" and not "if". Granted you can make a similar argument about once the nuclear bomb were we always going to use it eventually? Except we didn't do that with the hydrogen bomb so *shrug*.

I would normally not give out group projects but I've taught a few commonly convened courses that required them and a plenty of times there's not a "50%" version of a project. When people wrote papers it wasn't like I could be like "okay your group should just not have a conclusion" or "come up with just one piece of evidence to support your claim since you have fewer people".

Like I have a friend who (in her opinion) got far more right swipes than she "deserved", but her response wasn't "oh I guess maybe I'm more desirable than I thought" but rather "oh...a bunch of these people are just swiping right on everything".

Cousins has had fully guaranteed contracts his entire career.

Rookie contract isn't guaranteed and his fully guaranteed contracts have mostly been 1-3 year extensions (which is also what the franchise tag falls under). And he's also shown a level of durability (well until this year =( ) that he's earned it.

That's much different than a 5 year fully guaranteed contract for Watson. NFLPA doesn't want everyone on 1-2 year fully guaranteed contracts either.

Whether Oct 7 qualifies as genocidal is ultimately not the biggest issue here. It's literally just a debate about what specific word gets used to describe it.

It was an atrocity, whether or not it met the bar for "genocide".

And whether or not it met that bar, it does not justify Israel's actions since then, and anyone claiming otherwise or bringing it up irrelevantly is doing so out of support for Israel's own atrocities - which have long since exceeded Hamas's on Oct 7th - nothing else.

And unlike Hamas, where it's likely but uncertain, we can be 100% confident that Israel's intent is genocidal in nature.

Sure and normally I wouldn't even care about drawing such distinctions, but there's an organized effort by Israel for people to push "genocide" as the descriptor here and I think it's worth pushing back against it when you see it as it's an attempt to draw support for their own actions.

Regardless of whether you think there should be negotiating or not, if you don't think that Hamas would agree to terms short of the expulsion/eradication of all Jews from Israel than you're just willfully deluding yourself.

At which point, you're tacitly admitting that you know that Hamas is using that as rhetoric, at which point we should be more honest about whether you truly believe the attacks were genocidal or are just using that language because Israel has been accused of genocide.

It's actually...ironic doesn't seem like the best term for it, but DeShaun Watson's fully guaranteed contract being an absolute disaster is going to hurt the NFLPA's leverage in the next CBA for guaranteed contracts and it could have been totally avoided if they hadn't tried to leverage all of their resources to get his suspension lessened.

In any case "Just don't use good items and team mates" is a bad argument against a game being too easy and having bad balance. Like playing Dark Souls and saying "just don't use dodge".

Yeah I generally agree within reason (like obviously if someone wants to sit down and power level I'm not going to hold that against the game). But it's one thing to determine through trying it out that Bowser and Mallow suck and another to be playing SMRPG for the first time and google searching "optimal team". The latter just feels like someone who is afraid of having any sort of struggle playing an RPG.

I swear like 16 years ago Nintendo Fans on GameFAQs would always try to help optimize literally any playthrough of Mario RPG as if it was needed to beat some of the "harder" bosses because they thought the Cake, and Yardovich, Johnny and Jinx were super hard bosses. When the secret sauce was actually never not using Geno and Peach because Bowser and Mallow suck as team mates.

Now it's like:

A- "Are they going to make Mario RPG Remake harder, because the original game was piss easy"
B- "OH WOW YOU WANT IT TO BE SUPER HARD? RPGS AREN'T EVEN KNOWN FOR BEING DIFFICULT ANYWAY".

One of my coworkers was going on about what the "optimal team" is for SMRPG and I guess I'll just not ever truly understand optimizing a reasonably easy single player game.

Honestly, salary caps don't matter. Garbage franchises will always be garbage franchises barring a miracle draft selection. It's an artificial way to keep player salaries down.

Salary caps are not inherently anti-worker. A near 100/0 revenue split for players divided 32 ways as a salary cap would be much closer to what you'd expect from a co-op type set up.

When e.g. Joe Burrow resets the QB market, he's not winning a battle against the owners. It's money that isn't going to other players. And that's true whether owners take half the revenue split or none of it.

At them. NBA and MLB players act like fucking divas because they have fully guaranteed money, but NFL players go out and get crippled both mentally and physically to make pennies on the dollar. While the NFL rakes in just as much money for the owners.

The reason that NFL contracts aren't fully guaranteed (besides the fact that the player union is kind of weak) is the same as the reason for why you would want them to be fully guaranteed though.

Tbh though I don't know how revenue split works in the leagues with non-salary caps. NHL is 50/50 revenue split for their hard cap which is better than NFL (48/52) but they're comparable.

It's not incorrect though. I am an incel but I have a lot of respect for women. I'm more distrustful towards men if anything. My father left me right during a difficult time in my childhood and I was raised by a single mother who taught me to respect people.

It is unfortunate that the term "incel" has another meaning today but I don't have an alternative term to represent my people, few as we may be. I don't feel represented by the "virgin" label. Perhaps we need a new label to distance ourselves from the brotherhood of dark incels.

It's already weird to me that you would define yourself by your perceived inability to get women. Throw on top of that the large group of people using that label who are bad people and also that inherently using that label already mentally makes you vulnerable to bad ideologies and it's unclear why you want to still be like "I'm a *good* incel".

I feel like the people who get really invested in "You can be an incel without being misogynistic" tend to just tell on themselves by the end of the conversation anyway. Even if that was true at one point, the people who most loudly and proudly call themselves incels (and even tbh most of the mentality behind identifying that way) should make you *not* want to identify that way even if you qualify as "wanting to have sex but not being successful with women".

Both of my dogs ended up that way. It was sad, but for them they were both pretty old dogs when it started.
