That's always basically been my understanding of why they love them so much.

To evangelicals, Israel needs to exist so that the Biblical endtimes can occur.

I thought Israel IS the promised land? Isn't that what half of the old testament is about?

They believe that Israel has to exist as a powerful nation to kick off the end times prophecy. Later on, every single Jewish person on earth either converts to Christianity or gets killed in some war or something. Then Christians move to Israel and take over. And then Jesus shows up

There's no money in that.

Also feels like if they really believed that, they'd have some issues with showering it in blood so often.

Because it's a core belief for U.S. Christo-fascists.

They don't actually love Jewish people/Israel, they need them to be sacrificed one day so they can be raptured and proven they haven't just been an insane shit-for-brains this entire time.

Lol it's probably less so about the make believe Bible shit and moreso that a destabilized middle east is profitable. Toss in a little bit of racism and actual anti-semitism and Israel's existence is a conservatives wet dream

I grew up evangelical and I think the "Israel needs to exist for the end times" thing is overblown as a motivation (or maybe I just had an abnormal experience). Most people's support of Israel in my area just came from good old fashioned Islamophobia.

You underestimate the degree to which Christo-fascists, the people who believe every word in the Bible as literal (except for the parts that tell them to be good people towards others) and that their version of Christianity should be the law of the land, take that book seriously.

Recently Mike Johnson said "if you want to know my policy views, pick up a Bible" and that dude isn't just playing at being a Christo-fascist to get their support, he's a "normal" example of how these people actually are.

In their community Covenant Eyes isn't even noteworthy like it was for all of us when we learned about it, they laud that sort of thing.
