Maybe if they play consoles. The first game is made for PC. It features all the anachronistic tendencies of mid-2000s PC gaming. I personally quite enjoy the game for its characters, world design, and story. Finally an RPG that shows us that the different quarters don't look like each other, Bethesda.

I finish season 1 on Netflix, ordered the Last Wish from Chapters, and started playing The Witcher games again. We'll see how far I get through the games; I just started the first game, and am in the early stages of chapter 1.

I'm playing GTA San Andreas on PS4. I'm able to forgive a lot of things as an artifact of their time (grainy, muddy graphics, constant pop in, textures loading about 50ft away from CJ, etc.), but man, I'm _really_ missing being able to hot skip between safe houses. You mean I have to _drive_ there? I can't just load to the safe house closest to where I want to go? Barbarism!

On episode 6 now. I legit wasn't expecting the Doppler to assume Ciri's form and let himself be captured, and attempt to kill the knight for misleading him. "Who she is; what she's capable of." is a pretty sweeping statement. I wonder what that means to him. There was something in that knife that the Doppler was weak to - silver I'm assuming. Can't be just that. Now I want the books.

The Netflix showrunner said they wouldn't adapt the games though, so I'm a little concerned about how they're gonna do that storyline. They mentioned the Wild Hunt in the pilot even but if it doesn't get resolved in the show, why bother.

Just going to have to read the books if you want the storyline. I've already been looking at picking them up. And it's not so much he hates the games so much as he didn't like the medium in which the story was presented. He doesn't like computer games in general. I have no idea how he's going to adapt the games around new books, if he decides to write them. They signed a new deal, so it can't be that acrimonious.

The Ciri and Wild Hunt stuff more pertains to The Witcher 3. I'm fairly certain that those games are considered canon to the story.

We've established that Witchers and Witches all live outside of the traditional realms of time. Geralt is old, and Yen hasn't aged out of her 20s in the last 30 years. I just finished episode 5. Not much to say about it, but man, it's _really_ making me want to play the games again. I love the aesthetic of the world. It's medieval Europe with magic, elves, and demons.

I'm not really keeping track of where it all interweaves. I'm looking at them as separate stories until they intersect with each other. Basically, it's telling the origin stories of where everybody starts and continues along the path.

Ok, episode 4. This is another one of those heavy timeskip episodes, huh? Geralt is about 8-11 years in the past, and we're meeting Ciri's mom and dad. I remember the law of surprise being how he eventually ends up raising Ciri, and it makes her grandmother's insistence on destiny all that more profound. I have no idea where to place Yen, but she's now 30 years past joining the circle and becoming a court mage. What an entertaining mess this is.

It's pretty damn close. Jawline's a little too squat on Cavill, but the casting is almost perfect otherwise.

I'm glad they don't cut any of the bullshit out. This is supposed to be a hard content series, and they're taking it to the fullest. The pacing is still wildly all over the place, as they try to weave 3-4 fabrics at the same time. It's good, though. Really good.

I only half paid attention to the first 2 episodes while I was busy doing things in GTA San Andreas, but I got the gist of what happened, due to my knowledge from the games. This takes place 5+ years before the events of the games, I believe. Now, Yen had such troubles controlling her chaos, but she had an extraordinary amount of power. so, De Vries turned 3 of her fellows into eels so she could absorb their control from the pool? Am I understanding that correctly?
