Look, I tried to avoid this topic but I just can't anymore. Zoe Quinn is toxic and manipulative, but that does not mean I am defending rape/sexual assault or physical, emotional, whatever-the-fuck he was accused of. Part of the problem is the responses ZQ gets whether they are followers or those who mean her harm. I don't condone sexual violence at any cost and I lean to the left when it comes to politics. But this is a special case. This is Zoe Quinn - a known grifter who is a nobody in the video game industry who decided to throw some accusations in 2014 which lead to a huge scandal. And now she's gone and done it again, despite being proven to be a liar and manipulative sociopath. This hits close to home because I know people exactly like Zoe Quinn, and it ain't pretty. These people live to watch others suffer and get a kick out of it. At my job, I sometimes have people come up to me in public and start filming me, telling me they're going to put me on YouTube and there's nothing I can do about it (no I am not a cop), and that's just one example, but I figure it's relevant because it's exactly the kind of shit ZQ would do. So before y'all get on your high horse and white knight a woman claiming to be abused several years ago, on fucking Twitter, do realize that you're not making the world a better place. You're part of the problem, because she would probably do the same to you.

...I feel like I need to reiterate once again that in no way am I defending rape culture and those shitbags need to go to prison. But this is someone who is trying to glamorize the subject seemingly for no reason. She is constantly trying to play victim and pin the attention away from the actual victims who have suffered way more than she ever has.

I would highly recommend reading the whole thing if you have the time. That being said, the tl;dr that's relevant to this topic is: It's very much not just Zoe accusing Alec of sexual assault, and his sister substantiating that he did dark, messed up things to other people.

It seems like the topic title was ill-advised, and I agree that people shouldn't really be blamed for coming forward with honest accounts of abuse (I think the idea is we want a world where people can support each other and share that they aren't alone)

That said, I do agree with Corrik that a large part of OP's post does seem to be against "mob culture", and against harassers. I feel we can probably all agree that some of the biggest "villains" in any of this are the people who went out of their way to harass anyone involved in this. (Or maybe I'm wrong?)

There are reasons why the legal system doesn't get involved in this type of thing which I think the OP can learn more about, but I'd rather assume the OP just doesn't realize the implications rather than assume he's deliberately obtuse. (The gist of it, as far as I can understand, is that the legal system usually cannot do anything about these cases even when they are true, and much of the accusation might not qualify as illegal even if he did horrible things)

Zoe Quinn is a divisive figure, and if you believe that lies have been spread about her to make her seem less trustworthy, then it's equally possible that the OP is a person who has been deceived by those lies than he is someone responsible for them. The things I've read about Zoe Quinn online have certainly made her seem untrustworthy. I admit I don't know enough to know the whole story about her. In this case, I don't have any reason to think she's lying, since it seems many people corroborated her story.

Ultimately, the OP seems quite upset about what happened, and I think his feelings are valid. He is upset that someone who was clearly not 100% all bad was driven to suicide, and I think that's a sad situation. When people are hurt, they look for someone to blame. Maybe OP is blaming the wrong people. I think it's understandable, even if it is misguided. I don't jump to the OP being a piece of shit. In fact, I think, on a scale of how unreasonable the OP could've been, they could've handled this much worse. (See: Literally any of the threads on the Steam Community for the game)

That's just my opinion. I don't think the OP has presented himself as being past the point of reason, so I don't think such a strong reaction is warranted. Please tell me if you think I'm wrong.

This is a really unusual statement from trump, it's rare for him to straight up admit he hasn't heard of something (unless it's the name of a white supremacist) - normally he would say something like "nobody's ever even heard of a category 5 hurricane before" which is his usual euphemism for not knowing something.

Like, this wasn't just some thing that happened years ago and it was all water under the bridge, this was an ongoing situation where quinn was scared to go to places holowka would be, this hatchet was not buried, and she wasn't the only person afraid of him or hurt by him

The fact that he may have been unstable and had a possibility of doing something drastic cannot shield him from criticism forever. Having a mental illness does not give you a free pass to inflict pain on others

Shock has somewhat limited value in general, on some enemies it's strong but a lot of enemies are capable of just sort of ignoring it since they often either have not enough dice for all their equipment, or too many dice for all their equipment, so it doesn't really affect them one way or the other.

And yeah this game is just rife with balance issues. It's really kind of a mess to be honest

Yeah this is my current biggest complaint with the game right now

I've had three losses to Rose on the first floor because there's sometimes absolutely nothing you can do about him because you get overwhelmed by thorns

and then that happens with Cactus sometimes as well, you just don't have an offense because attacking gets you killed so you're done for

lol my first two deaths in this game were both on Thief 2 where I died in the first combat because it was literally impossible with the rolls I got to outpace my opponent's damage

Witch is very fun and seemed like by far the most interesting way to play this game. Robot and Inventor alright. Warrior and Thief kind of too simple.
