Well I haven't been to any of them. Florida and California are too hot (also Florida is Florida) so I guess Detroit wins by default.

My chances of running into Eminem increase as well so hey there's a bright side.

I'm betting a lot of the people who rule out Florida 'because it's Florida' haven't actually lived there or been there an extended amount of time. Usually when you get the Florida man shit it's in backwater towns and not built up areas. Another reason Florida man stories are more prevalent than elsewhere is to do with how quickly and easily accessible police reports for the media.

There is a massive difference between living in a large area like Tampa or Orlando and living in some small Florida town.

I've lived in Orlando for 7 years now. I also frequently travel around the country for work and Orlando is a hell of a lot better than the vast majority of places I go to. That being said with Tampa it entirely depends on where in Tampa. There's nice areas of Tampa and there are very shitty areas of Tampa.

Detroit is a hard pass for me. Sacramento I've only been to a few times but wasn't a fan (granted I am not a fan of San Francisco either)

Sorry no Florida sucks it's completely miserable 10 months of the year.

Sacramento is easy. You can live in the hills and get a little relief from the rotten summers, while the other 8 months are ideal. Having nearby access to some of the great geographic features of the country makes it all worth it imo.

Detroit has plenty of very nice areas. You can find yourself in the wrong place in any metro city, even the nicest one if the country.

Detroit a decade ago was terrifying, now it's gentrified and a nice area to visit or possibly live.

Now, what does it tell you if 13 of the 20 cheapest zip codes in the entire country are all in Detroit? (Hint: it's not that the houses are a steal.)

I don't understand why people complain about the weather so much which I assume your 10 month comment is about. Give me the heat over the cold any day of the week. I get the feeling my tolerance for heat is a lot higher than most as it doesn't really bother me that much

Also being able to chill out on the boat / sandbar / lake year round is great.
