yeah the show probably needed more actual MCU characters. Didnt even need to be huge ones, just two minutes of Martin Freeman isnt enough. it feels too small scale even though its theoretically a global thing.

I think Falcon and Winter Soldier had more returning characters than this series has had so far, and that wasnt about a massive shapeshifting conspiracy.

finale spoilers

I was pretty into it when it was a serious convo between Fury and Gravik

but then its not actually fury there which really undercuts it (I figured it wasnt him, but still I hoped)

and then we get our CGI fight between essentially two randos

and I sort of take issue with these two just knowing every power they suddenly acquired and how to use them. Come on, Giah doesnt know who Mantis is. But whatever, its space magic.

and now the president just declared all aliens enemy combatants? And immediately randos are just gunning down skrulls in public? What the fuck.

so now theres a lady with Captain Marvel powers + a million others. Huh. Shes just still gonna be out there. Where are they going to follow up on that?

i dunno man. That was probably my least favorite series theyve done so far. Bummer.

That felt like an incredibly quick wrap-up and much more epilogue than any other of the D+ series finale so far huh.

but I enjoyed the absolute insanity of Super Duper Skrulls. Sure you can point out how quick it is to adapt but I mean these are short series and these days we have absolutely no idea if / when we'll see these characters again so just give it to me. But like... they can't just fade G'iah into existence now because holy shit.

President's an absolute dumb fuck and I look forward to Harrison Ford taking over... which really blows my mind that we got no post-credits for this. Really?? There's so much confirmed tie-ins to use between Marvels & Captain America both within the year, not to mention Rhodey's Armor Wars further ahead.

I've enjoyed my time with it, Olivia Colman's an absolute highlight of the show as I mentioned. Awkward for Fury who's kinda just been a punching bag the entire series but he's had some great one-on-one moments with Rhodey & Varra. Not so much for G'iah yet since she's still been so disillusioned for most the series but it was definitely a set-up arc I would absolutely look forward to more... I just have no damn clue where or how though.

Definitely has to be on the lower end. Better than the Ms. Marvel that imploded its plot mid-way, but nothing touching the highs of Hawkeye, Moon Knight, or She-Hulk.

I'm not as big on Loki / WV as most people are though. Loki had some great highs but a lot of terribly boring lulls and dumb shit. I always describe it as a rollercoaster. WV... I'm gonna be honest, Ralph Bohner fucked me up. But character work was great between Wanda, Vision, and Harkness. Secret Invasion's been very consistent but not great. Basically how I described FatWS but at least that had the episode 4 closer. Gravik & Skrulls > Flag Smashers though.

Hawkeye >= She-Hulk > Moon Knight > Loki > WV > Secret Invasion >= FatWS > Ms. Marvel

Yeahhh when I write out the ranking I gotta put it either second or third last with FatWS. I enjoy it yes but it's nothing stellar. I like what Ms. Marvel introduced too but its mistake was trying to jam two different seasons into 6 episodes and no other show fucks up that hard.

Yeah I spent most of the season thinking that although its not great, its looking at a lower middle ranking or second from the bottom at worst. After the last two episodes I think its the weakest they have done. At least with the finale you could see where the money went. FatWS was less consistent but had higher highs. This felt like a waste of really great performances.

Secret Invasion generally a disappointment compared to what it could have been. A lot of great performances and I always love me some Samuel L Jackson, but the overall plot was just kinda boring and never felt like there was any stakes to what was happening.

It's such a massive political outfall but Marvels isn't looking to touch it, and Captain America has its hands full with Hulk stuff (although it also might be introducing President Ross?... which sounds incredibly hard to do while dodging the subject of Ritson's incredibly recent genocide order)

I could see Thunderbolts addressing it since we don't really know what they're actually going to do yet and Val *is* directly involved with the US government.

to be fair all anyone ever had to do was shoot Rhodey

it's why I had a problem with Nick just leaving the hospital last episode, after making that defiant stance pulling up a chair to guard the President he ended up just whimpering away

and god Ritson is such a fucking idiot. Nick saved your ass, brought you to the hospital, told you right then not to trust Rhodey... and he just immediately listens to Rhodey talking about starting WW3 and not believing Fury.

Regarding Rhodey: people are posting screenshots that show he's wearing the exact same hospital gown as he was in Civil War when he gets his back injury, so immediate speculation is the swap was made then. Which would be mental, as a Skrull would have been him in Infinity War and Endgame. I'll expect that was the intent of the show, but there'll be some backlash and it will be walked back and "clarified" it's just from a recent check-up or something.

It would massively diminish Rhodey as a character if he had been an imposter all that time, which is why I'm fairly sure the show planned it that way as they fucked up everything else.

Only things that come to mind are what you cited & he gets a face-to-face moment with dying Tony before Peter and Pepper get in there. But also that he wasn't blipped for the full 5 year span of time would be pretty incredible. Which also begs the question, what happens for a Skrull impersonator when the human they're impersonating gets blipped away?

To add to all that on Skrodey, the death scene was extremely anticlimactic for one of the main antagonists of the entire show in a way that also makes you wonder why they didn�t just start blasting earlier. It gets even worse if we really do go with the replaced during Civil War version of events.

I am almost certainly putting more thought into this than they did but while military action is a prerogative power and the Prime Minister can authorise use of force in case of emergency, it can be overridden by Parliament whereas my understanding is that the President can authorise military action in retaliation in this case to the motorcade attack. Again I am definitely thinking about this too hard and I am not even sure this logic holds because I think this action would be covered in that anyway.

Well I gotta say, this is definitely the most negative I�ve seen this topic on an episode. I don�t really want to rag on it too much as there were things I enjoyed but yeah to me 2-4 was actually getting very good but the last two just lost me really.

Secret Invasion is probably the worst of the Disney+ shows, but really it's also easily the most forgettable show. It feels like it should be a really big thing that will have many lasting ramifications for the future of the MCU, but I kinda feel like this whole "Skrull invasion/human war on aliens" thing is going to be swept under the rug.

I mean the verdict is still out on if Moon Knight will ever tie into anything else, but the show itself was still much more interesting and memorable than Secret Invasion.

Moon Knight is good and while there is a reasonable chunk of people who absolutely did not get on with it at all that seems to be the feeling. However, I think even the show itself feels that it is a totally separate thing in fact the only reference to the rest of the MCU is one line referring to Black Panthers ancestral plane.

Moon Knight episode 1 was good.
2 was serviceable.
The remainder dropped the ball of being anything worthwhile. Stakes were crap, world building was crap, world integration was crap.

Secret Invasion is much in the same hole, except without having a good episode.

This is not a concept that should exist for only Nick Fury and Rhodey.

I've finished the first four episodes of Secret Invasion and I still just do not care. I'm going to discuss what just absolutely made me stop caring about this show.

We kill off Maria Hill in the first episode. Sorry, let me clarify. We FRIDGED Maria Hill in the first episode. For nothing. Her dynamic with Fury was the most interesting part of this. She could have been a lot of the heart of the show, and she would have finally gotten her chance to shine as a character and would have been great for Fury to bounce off of. Instead she just gets shot at the end of the first episode and dies and they don't bother to say she was an LMD or something or anything that makes more sense than her dying to random Skrull villain we don't know or care about.

And then you have Talos there who while not as interesting of a dynamic with Maria Hill, at least he still has a solid dynamic with Fury. I don't care about any of the Skrull storyline with him, but whatever. It's something. He should be the heart of the Skrull and the figurehead for the Skrulls who want to coexist. And then he dies at the end of the fourth episode! What are we doing here!? Why!? The only other character other than Fury I cared about died!

And then to top all of these off. The most offensive part of all of this is that Emilia Clarke's Skrull character dies in the second or third episode at the end... AND THEN SHE COMES BACK TO LIFE WITH EXTREMIS BY SURPRISE! Quite frankly go fuck yourself if you're going to kill off two characters we care about in cliffhangers, but then kill the one nobody cares about and then revive her in seconds of the next episode. It's so backwards.

And this wouldn't be so awful if they bothered to have anyone in this show we know or care about. Instead all that's left is Rhodey, and we all know what's up there. And he's an antagonist. But there isn't a single other character you could throw into this? Anyone who could spice things up? I already know what this budget went into and I haven't watched to that point yet, so I'll refrain, but what was anyone thinking when they put this show together? It's such a fun storyline in the comics with so much intrigue, and they turned it into whatever this disaster is right now.

Yeah, this was kind of a disaster. It's on the same level of FatWS, where the shows have a great premise but everything about them is excruciatingly boring. Both should've just been movie-length.

Every actor in this is wasted. If I was SLJ, Olivia Coleman, Don Cheadle or Emilia Clarke I'd be pissed. Especially Emilia Clarke. That's two high-profile Disney properties that have completely ate shit through no fault of your own.

G'iah's in an awkward position because the ending absolutely sets her up but the show itself didn't do much with her.

Moon Knight's great - dives a bit in the middle, but it had a great start, Oscar Isaac did a fantastic job, and the penultimate is one of the best episodes of all D+ shows.

Would've been a ballsy move for Secret Invasion to Keep Maria Hill around for the whole series just to have her revealed as a Skrull in the end, manipulating Fury so that she could take over the Skrull army away from Ken.

Would've been good for them to do ANYthing, but the only Skrulls we get are Rhodey and Bilbo. I mean, come on.

Everett Ross is another very weird use of a character in this show. He literally existed only as an introduction to the concept of Skrulls, seeing him getting rescued in the ending is just like... man you could've actually had a role.

although most of these 6-ep series end up feeling that way

Because before the super machine activated, he had powers she didn't and would therefore have an advantage. Afterwards, they were on even footing in terms of powers. This isn't even a plot hole, it's just common sense.

I'm piling on here a bit from the bad taste left in my mouth but it really feels like you could cut out all the D+ shows entirely and be no worse for it. They all feel like unnecessary or unneeded branches off the "trunk" movie MCU arc that you could catch movie-only viewers up in 5-10 minutes max.

I'm piling on here a bit from the bad taste left in my mouth but it really feels like you could cut out all the D+ shows entirely and be no worse for it. They all feel like unnecessary or unneeded branches off the "trunk" movie MCU arc that you could catch movie-only viewers up in 5-10 minutes max.

I feel like that's kind of by design, they don't want to have people worrying about catching up on 10 shows to understand what's going on in the next big blockbuster.

That said I've been loving the D+ shows for the most part. FatWS probably at the bottom for me, but it gave us Dancing Zemo so it's still pretty great. FatWSaDZ for S2 please.

When they announced these Disney+ shows, everyone was so optimistic and excited for it. But honestly, I think they all ended up disappointing to some degree. None of them lived up to their potential, even the best of them. I think WandaVision probably made it out the best of them?

But this all feels like a giant fumble where they just screwed it all up. This should have been a home run concept but what we've got is just a mess of shows that really harmed the Marvel brand that was known for mostly quality films. It's just so strange how they weren't able to produce anything blow away with this, but they spent so much stupid money on all of it.

I skipped Ms Marvel and Moon Knight because I didnt think they'd appeal to me, and I really wanted to like Secret Invasion but yeah, it felt so hollow now that it's done.

Still looking forward to Loki S2 but am worried it will be lower-tier too.

I ranked Ms. Marvel the lowest because its plot structure is garbage, but I also really enjoyed the first couple episodes and the cast it introduced and now I'm excited to see her in The Marvels.

There isn't yet a show that I wish I hadn't seen, just shows that I wish could've been done better.
