A great look when everyone is panicking about the sky falling at your studios.

But considering Kamhala, not surprising.

Imagine someone saying something like, "In the comics, Daredevil is blind. We think that's dumb, so we're going to do something different."

Can they get people who actually care about and like comics to work on this stuff? It's such a simple bar for this.

This is almost as bad as the director for Moon Knight who said that he hates action scenes and always skips them in movies, and that he was proud of skipping the whole final battle scene in the last episode.

Like I could see, we dont think this would translate well to live action tv, so were doing something a little different, or we like the concept, but feel she hasnt been used to her full potential in practice, so were going with a slightly different take from what youve seen before, but what they actually said is just lol.

To play devil's advocate here, having no familiarity with her in the comics... isn't [her powers as described in the Tweet] basically just Taskmaster? So in that sense her comics power is kind of lame? I might be showing my ass here re: Taskmaster too, who knows.

Also since I mentioned Taskmaster, yes the Black Widow version of the character is terrible

Imagine if we got this gritty, Echo TVMA style fighting in Moon Knight.

I just made myself sad.

The Echo comment is very odd but the Moon Knight one is no lies detected. A lot of Marvel action, can be exceedingly boring and all these series have a lot of it. I definitely wasnt watching either that episode or the series and thinking hmm, this really needs more action as there was already so much of it. What they went with was a fun stylistic flourish that fit the theme of the series.

I agree. The better solution to boring action scenes should definitely be to not have action scenes at all and NOT to instead just make good and entertaining action scenes.

Moon Knight has issues, HOWEVER I remember it having some pretty good scenes in other episodes of that show. I found the entire last episode of that show a big let down. That series had two really good episodes (the first one and the "weird" one) and the rest was kind of blah

I mean the really mind blowing thing is that a flourish like that helped punctuate the action and make it better. Its not like there was a lack of it. Tbh either way Moon Knights probably in the top third? Quarter? If we go by action scenes but that isnt saying that much.

Just watched the latest Loki episode. This felt like the first episode all season that was actually about Loki instead of a show that just has him as the featured character.

He certainly doesnt need to come back financially, and Im pretty sure he has too much respect for himself and the character to do that (Outside of a gimmick multiverse cameo of course).

I think it goes slightly beyond that. I found what you said to be nonsense that the director of an MCU project shouldn't be saying, and his actual quote to be a fairly reasonable perspective.

XIII is absolutely right and this is something that happens all the time in need culture (and other) circles where somebody takes a comment by a creator out of context and it becomes a point to argue over. This is why I checked out the source of that Echo comment and was somewhat surprised to see thats what was actually said. It was odd. The rest of the interview seemed pretty promising though.

Also I want to chime in and say I thought that Loki episode was great. Feels like it was designed to address the questions about the lack of focus on Loki and make it feel a lot more deliberate.

I'm so goddamn tired of Loki. I feel like karma is punishing me for hardly running into him during his season.

God, The Marvels having more multiverse BS has got me even less interested in it. Is anyone else kind of over the multiverse stuff? To think we have YEARS more of it is exhausting.

Multiverse as a concept is cool but, yeah, it gets old because it basically amounts to "you can do anything, no rules, no consequences"

Its so weird that there are still no reviews for The Marvels, the movie is out in some countries. This is literally Assassins Creed Unity vibes. The social media embargo was also super tight, its like theyre hiding the film which is a bad sign since from the tracking this one definitely needs good word of mouth to succeed. Its either no good or a total failure of marketing.

Main highlights that most critics seem to agree on:

- Strong performance from Iman Villani.

- Very brisk pacing. Some people think it is too short and makes the story seem like a mess because of the breakneck pace. Others really like that it never drags and is only 94 minutes.

- Villain is underutilized and boring except for a few good action scenes.

- One of the funniest MCU movies in a long time.

- Whether you like it or not, it is a huge change in the metanarrative. Some people liked the huge change and finally feeling like the metanarrative and overarching story in phase 5 is moving forward. Others felt like it made the movie seem like a major midseason episode of a TV show that is about hooking you for the back half of the season.

- Creative fight choreography. Visuals are very good in some areas and so-so in others.

Sounds like a Marvel movie!

That 94 minute run time is concerning though considering almost all are closer to 2 hours (or more...) at this point. And I just checked, and yep, it would be the shortest by nearly 20 minutes. Probably speaks to the production and post-production difficulties they supposedly had on this.

I'll take 90 minutes over 3 hours

I saw it and I didn't think it was big. I can see why other people think it's big though.

The second end credits scene that doesn't have the video leaked has me more excited than anything else coming up in the MCU right now. But I can understand people not caring as much.
