I just saw a preview for this. That's what it is, right?

Anyone else interested in this? It seems like a ripoff but I don't care it looks pretty fun. Michael Keaton Batman man. Hopefully Christian Bale is in there too though I didn't see him in the previews, though I did see a Dark Knightish looking Batman

I want to just lean into the history good and bad. Get Arnold Mr Freeze in there too.

Okay on topic then it looks like a dopey movie otherwise that is being hyped by DC and their sycophants because they need to make up for the shitzillion dollars they spent making and remaking this movie multiple times.

The big fight is in a flat desert. Lol

Like I said in another topic, I'm going to see this on Wednesday as part of an advanced screening. I'll tell you if it's any good.

Though I admittedly am all aboard the Ezra Miller hate train and had no plans to see this movie originally. Just got some free tickets and said "screw it, why not." But I am going into it pretty critically though.

I'm not gonna lie - Ezra's cringe redditor Flash actually kinda works for me, though a lot of it requires the Snyder Cut of JL to fit tonally (plus in that they get to do a Crisis on Infinite Earths callback which unironically fucking rocks nearly enough to justify three hours of dumpster diving).

Still no way in hell you'll catch me paying money to see this in theaters. Cannot believe the extent DC is willing to burn everything else down except Ezra Miller. They've even got James Gunn out here doing damage control.

Cringe redditor isnt the kind of character Barry Allen is though which is probably why so many people dont like the portrayal. People want their superheroes how theyre supposed to be. Nobody would want to go see a Superman movie where Superman is a giant pessimist who lets people die because he doesnt feel like using his powers to help them and spends the movie complaining about how life sucks or something

I think DC live action wise Ill just wait for Gunns stuff that is hopefully a completely new start unrelated to the rest of the mess

In fairness it was the start of DCs cinematic universe and Snyder has insane fans. Look at what happened to Superman after that though and its a mess. Cavill really got fucked over even before The Rock tried to get some DC power strings pulled. A lot of the bad DC movies still made some big money because people were hopeful theyd get something good! I mean Aquaman was decent at best and made a billion dollars still

Then why are there people higher up saying that Ezra was just a poor little angry fella that has now gone to therapy and fixed themselves?

Why are they limiting his press promotion for this?

Will Smith gets canceled for a slap and Ezra Miller terrorizes an entire island, hits women, and does extremely not okay things with children and gets the "They're a poor fella who is just trying to fix themselves." Anyone else would be in jail for the shit they've done, and they get to go on a red carpet.

Ezra had a psychotic break. He's since been cooperative, and his court cases are pending. Frankly I'm fine with him getting leniency as long as he keeps working on himself and staying out of trouble.

And on top of that, Ezra hasn't been involved in the promotion, and hasn't been signed for any role since the events. Recasting him for Flash isn't really an option, so I don't know what you want the studios to do.

Compare that to Will Smith who, with absolutely no justification or reasonable explanation, attacked a man in an award show in front of essentially the entire country, and he's still got a full swing career with practically no consequences so I'm not sure what point you think you're making there.

And yet Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 (this year's other DC movies) are forecasted to do extremely poorly. This probably had a huge budget, so I doubt it's particularly successful.

I find a lot of the THE MOVIE LOOKS TERRIBLE TOO takes interesting in that its kind of hard to not view this as affected by confirmation bias from Ezra and their terrible actions. Each trailer has gone down very well, occasional bit of spotty CG aside, and the movie is by all accounts very good. It is possible for bad people to be involved in the making of good things.

Personally I find Ezra a tough pill to swallow, but it should always be remembered that this is a collaboration of thousands. Ezras career is basically over and they wont get much financially from the films success. Its less of a troubling proposition than the new Mission Impossible when you think about in that way - Cruise is inextricably linked to the success of that film, while Ezras just an actor. Yet nobody is talking about Mission Impossible in the same way, I think largely because the story is less salacious.

The stupid thing is that the news of Keaton returning as Batman was what spurred Marvel to have Tobey and Andrew reprise their roles as their respective Spider-men in the MCU. So No Way Home was kind of the ripoff instead.

Either way, I made topics last year asking how this freaking movie had any hope to succeed. It seemed like a slow-motion trainwreck I couldn't take my eyes off of...until I did I guess? To be honest, the trailers do have me excited for it, but given how much I liked No Way Home I might just be a bit of a sucker for stories like this. Also, regarding Miller, the only reason they're "protected" is because the movie has already been filmed and WB can't afford to sink in even more money to reshoot the whole thing with someone else. We already saw this happen just over a year ago with Ansel Elgort in West Side Story and Armie Hammer in Death on the Nile, but those movies didn't have as much of a target on their back for various reasons.

I know what Smith said is meme-worthy as heck, but I genuinely despise how people act as if Smith brutalized Rock on stage when it seemed more like a friendly slap to me at worst. Oh, it was still massively embarrassing no doubt, but I guess the issue is that Smith just came off to me like he was possessed by the soul of one of his movie characters. That's how he typically comes across to me anyways. Probably more plausible on the whole is that Smith has been around for a while and people are more used to his eccentricities, in the same way people will excuse the likes of Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, and Donald Trump.

Heck, at this point I'm not even entirely sure Smith was entirely in the wrong. Most of Rock's comedy seems mean-spirited to me anyway, so I guess the Oscars stage is now a place to spew out negativity with nigh-impunity? Though that's more a problem with the Oscars as a whole than Rock specifically.

I feel like the success of GotG3 suggests that Marvel lull could be ending. At the very least they seem to have taken steps to address each of the issues people were having.

However, DC is literally about to have its big relaunch. What Gunn is talking about doing is vastly more promising than any previous offer from WB on DC films. Of course both could easily be derailed by the writers strike and now an actors strike is looming also.

GotG success honestly peaks better for DCs prospects than Marvel's. Nothing about that movie being great has anything to do with the MCU as a whole, and everything to do with Gunn. In fact, the parts where it's forced to deal with the overall MCU are probably the worst parts of the movie.

Now, Gunn as the reins at DC and there's not all that much that looks interesting in the Marvel pipeline at all. Blade is probably not coming out, and their next overarching big bad is in legal trouble of his own.

Apparently it had the best streaming numbers on HBO Max of the pandemic-era DCEU releases, which means it only had to best Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder's Justice League. Gunn might have been chosen as much for being an important figure in the MCU and due to his DC contributions being among the greater DCEU's least controversial.

Wanna take a moment here and just state how fantastic The Flash is in comics is right now. The current run just came to an end today and a new very promising one starts in September. So even if you understandably won't see this Barry Allen movie, you can still seek out some great content from the far superior Wally West!

It's my hope that this film will take the opportunity of having to change actors to switch over to Wally going forwards anyways. With the show also ending it's prime time for it.
