Compare that to Will Smith who, with absolutely no justification or reasonable explanation, attacked a man in an award show in front of essentially the entire country, and he's still got a full swing career with practically no consequences so I'm not sure what point you think you're making there.

I know what Smith said is meme-worthy as heck, but I genuinely despise how people act as if Smith brutalized Rock on stage when it seemed more like a friendly slap to me at worst. Oh, it was still massively embarrassing no doubt, but I guess the issue is that Smith just came off to me like he was possessed by the soul of one of his movie characters. That's how he typically comes across to me anyways. Probably more plausible on the whole is that Smith has been around for a while and people are more used to his eccentricities, in the same way people will excuse the likes of Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, and Donald Trump.

Heck, at this point I'm not even entirely sure Smith was entirely in the wrong. Most of Rock's comedy seems mean-spirited to me anyway, so I guess the Oscars stage is now a place to spew out negativity with nigh-impunity? Though that's more a problem with the Oscars as a whole than Rock specifically.
