She didn't get canceled exactly, at least not in her own region or globally. Like 8 months ago, she was reading out her sub counts on youtube by region (I think it was sub counts, might have been superchat earnings or something). She was literally just reading the page as it appears in her youtube statistics. In reading the regions, she read taiwan and it's sub count. That's it. That's all she did.

This led to massive outrage from china and a fairly large and dedicated group of ultranationalists have been harassing her ever since (death threats, spamming her stream chat constantly for months with bots making it unusable, of course saying horrible things to her on social media, doxxing her, etc). And it wasn't just like random people, there were dedicated communities that planned this stuff. They would also spread this harassment to anyone she worked with, although not nearly for as long.

It never let up the entire time since it happened and a fair amount of people have avoided collabing with her as a result. Despite being the driving force behind the company opening an english branch, she hadn't been allowed by the company to work with them the entire time until recently (which, in retrospect was probably only approved after she decided to quit).

Oh, china also gave an ultimatum to cover corp (the company that owns hololive) to fire coco or withdraw from china. Hololive had a chinese branch and plenty of the JP branch streamed on bilibili (the main chinese streaming platform). Hololive suspended Coco but refused to fire her and ended up terminating their chinese branch as a result and they can no longer stream on bilibili.

Literally because someone read data off their youtube page once. China is pretty absurd.

EDIT: We don't technically know why Coco left. We can gather that it was her choice and that it was decided a while ago from what some other members have said. It's possible that it was entirely from the harassment which did visibly get to her on a few occasions or it could be primarily motivated by something else. She did say she was unable to share her reasons and apologized for that but thats all we know for now.

i see, yeah we can't say for sure unless she herself confirms the reason, but it's logical to assume she left because of the non stop harassment and the effect it has on the company and her co workers who get tangled in it, so we can't call her being cancelled but very shady stuff indeed

except this isn't base pso2. this is an entirely new thing. you would expect sega to have learned, but they didn't. all this is, is a special mode at this point. there's no content. there's a single boss. the entire length of the "story" is an artificial grind to get your battle power up, which is entirely meaningless if you pull over crap from pso2.

there's nothing. there's no dungeons. no bosses. no sidequests. a very small area.

there is actually nothing to do, and i'm not even the only one to see this, the subreddits and official forum is just filled with people asking if this is it, and then getting upset when told "yes", because you expect more from something like this, you expect an actual endgame. but there isn't one. and it looks like there's nothing even coming for the next six months. we're getting a alleged world boss, and then...nothing. eventually, at around 6 months, they're adding in two classes and like, mag customization.

i sound salty as hell, and it's because i am, because i expected an actual game here. yeah, i can just go back to pso2 and finish up the last episode, but like, i don't really want to specifically because new genesis pissed me off.

both situations are shit, this one is just expected. pso2 has ALWAYS been a super vapid game with pretty cool boss fights but before there were 2000+ boss fights the game was ass with potential

like what even does base pso2 have beyond cool boss fights. enchanted forest? buster quests? expert fields? they all suck ass, cool boss fights is all pso2 has ever had or will have

the safest and most correct way to play pso2 and ngs is just for a couple minutes every day and don't worry about being cutting edge cuz you're gonna get bored as hell cuz the games aren't build for endless (or even substantial like poe or something) grinding

it's VERY easy to get disappointed in pso2 if you have the wrong set of preconceptions going in, but its still a pretty good romp if you only halfways care about it

That's by Circle Entertainment, a small publisher that does a lot of games on Nintendo systems. I was a big fan of most of their 3DS games (I don't pay much attention to them lately since I don't have a Switch or Wii U), but one thing to note is that they're a Chinese company translating Japanese games into English. As such almost all of their games have some mistranslations or broken English here or there, and a full on visual novel is gonna have a good amount of it.

Circle and I go back a ways. I have a whole folder of their games on my 3DS, going all the way back to Sweet Memories Blackjack in 2011. I agree: Their translations tend to miss the mark, but the games are still playable, and I am getting more forgiving of these things as I get older.

Hell, if I go back my NES, the weird translations are endearing.

This is actually something you might be interested in. Coco has been harassed non-stop over the past year because she mentioned Taiwan once in a steam. This lead to her losing her job 8 months after.

Meanwhile John Cena called Taiwan a country... on a tv interview... while in Taiwan and all he had to do was apologize afterward >_>

He's still got a career, *and* a movie coming out in China.

Supposedly several other members had tried to talk her out of quitting which doesn't seem like something they'd do if she didn't have the option to stay. Her channel isn't going down and other members will still be able to talk about her. Seems very much like either the stress was just too much, or she had some other real life thing that caused her to want to leave.

It wasn't too hard to see coming. She broke down on steam a few months back and recently had been talking about how difficult it was to stay positive and just a lot of small things here and there.

Yeah, i really feel like a lot of people don't fully consider how miserable being famous is for most people, especially in a situation like streaming where you interact directly with fans. Even if you have the ability to just shrug off thousands of people going out of their way to let you know how much they hate you, theres still the very real threat of some crazy person either coming after you or doing something horrible in your name because they took some joke literally in their delusion.

Damn, 86 is so good. There's definitely some issues with logic but latest episode was really good. The 2nd to last scene in the montage is a little worrying. They showed Shin taking another tag, but I think chronologically it was after they started the endless recon mission, so does that mean one of the other 5 died before october 30th when fido dies? Most of the show also took place on burnt out battlefields or in a city but this episode they showed they can really make landscapes look beautiful here.

Apparently for that Detective Conan story I had remembered how the murderer did it, I just got the victim wrong as well as the circumstances (because I was envisioning the story that inspired the method). Granted, the killer was pretty fucking obvious since he was another cop and immediately just bought the suicide angle

I'm catching up on Vivy now and it's kind of frustrating how good it almost is. Most of it's great. An anime original with great animation, voice acting, action scenes, philosophical questions handled in interesting ways. However, the actual surface level plot has such massive holes that it just doesn't make sense and it's frustrating because I feel like they could have written the story to not have these massive plot holes without changing all that much.

For an example. The metal float. Their plan was to go in destroy the software running the AIs there...but it's fucking data, theres no way there isn't a back up and even IF there wasn't they made that whole software and island in less than 5 years, they could easily do it again. That was the dumbest plan of all time. They didn't even intend to damage the island itself so realistically it'd be operational again in like a week.

Of course thats not the only plot hole, there's major ones in virtually every episode and it's just such a shame because I feel like it undermines the otherwise well implemented story and setting.

I'm now caught up on Vivy and the plot holes have kind of spiraled out of control IMO. I'm surprised the rating hasn't tanked. We learn that the singularity project was just as dumb as it looked like it was and they all just missed the obvious.

They set out to change future events that would lead to the war between AIs and humans, but they never had any fucking clue why the AIs went berserk. All of the things they changed of course were completely pointless and had nothing to do with why the AIs went berserk and they never thought to check the literal system that controls all AIs software.

Additionally, at the end of episode 12 they just straight up cause a time paradox. By not saving Osamu in the 3rd timeline (for no fucking reason, they made it to toak with plenty of time in 2nd timeline) it means they didn't prevent Osamu from sending back Vivy's data which should shut her down immediately based on what we've already had explained to us but they just don't have that happen for no reason.

The AI mainframe also makes no sense at all. Vivy learning creativity would further prove what the mainframe was saying, not refute it. If AI can even create at the same level as humans, then humans would truly be obsolete.

The mainframe also had the ability to stop Vivy and more importantly matsumoto right from the start by targeting and killing osamu earlier which was before Vivy inspired the mainframe to give her a chance to sing.

Given what we now know, theres no way to save humanity without drastic alteration of the timeline so they might as well send back matsumoto and just have him show the government what happens if you make an AI calculate the future with the goal of improving humanity. He has video evidence and can easily prove he is from the future.

Why is beth better at combat than any of those random goons, in fact, why don't the random goons have a better combat routine than even Vivy if the mainframe has superior specs to matsumoto? Why don't they back up AI data in the first place? It's shown to be circuitry and you can download an exact replica of it as in beth's case. This makes the situation with kakitani's piano teacher dying ultra stupid cause they could just download his data into a new body.

Why a lot of things. When the story primarily focused on some mission, you could kind of ignore the overall plotholes, but now we are at the endgame and it's all about the plot but the plot is just so dumb. It's kind of triggering me to see so many people praise the plot in comments.

Spider is pretty good but the CG can be pretty awful at times. The human half of the story is also super boring because shun and pals have nothing to them. This latest episode (23) was especially bad CG. Kind of a shame. I still like the show a lot though. Looking forward to it finishing next friday although the story as a whole clearly would need at least a season 2 if not more to finish.

As the season draws to a close I feel kind of disappointed. A lot of the shows with a great start got worse. The only thing I'm watching that stayed the same or got better IMO is max level witch and nagatoro which both started fairly weak but actually got pretty decent.

Meanwhile, Vivy was a huge let down. Your eternity had one of the greatest openings episodes of all time but became significantly less impactful after that start. It's still decent but just not nearly as good as the start.

Megalo box started off with a drug addicted depressed Joe and it was great, but then everything turned around it became meh.

Spider was at it's best when spider was struggling and leveling. The overall plot outside of that is interesting enough to make me wanna watch, but nothing spectacular and the CG for anything involving humans and action is horrendous.

86 has probably held up the best but the republic is so stupid on a tactical level that it's just hard to suspend your disbelief. The action scenes in it are amazing and the visuals at times are breathtaking. The characters and pacing and story telling are all pretty good too. I think 86 is my anime of the season.

And then blue reflection ray I still think is better than the abysmal rating it has, but it's not that good either. Especially around episode 8 or so it got pretty bad. It's picked up somewhat since then at least.

Slime slice of life got boring. There's nothing wrong with it and it's exactly what it's advertised to be but I got bored.

Yeah Spider does have awful CG, its tolerable when you double the frames though.

Though as for Spider's struggle, no matter how op she seems they always seem to be able to up the ante.

Final episodes of 86 and Vivy aired. Vivy still makes zero logical sense which is still a shame.

86 is fantastic though. I can't wait for season 2. Somehow each of the last 3 episodes hits like a truck individually. Kinda feels like a gen urobuchi story but aside from the fact that the republic is terminally stupid, everything else makes more sense than a lot of his stories. Animation is top tier for the fights.

Mashiro no Oto had a very disappointing ending. It's a 20+ volume manga, and its anime is only 12 episodes, with major characters obviously not developed yet. Was really hoping it would at least get 24 episodes, if not more as there's a huge amount they can probably do.

I also generally don't read a manga for a show I want to see a second season of its anime (The exception is Watamote as it will never have a second season of its anime).

The demon "king" in max level witch is the best. I'm truly sad theres only one more episode left now. Only one more week until this season is over. At least next season will still give me my yuri fix with villainess S2 and dragon maid S2. I should actually look through the new anime for next season and see if theres any more yuri. I guess blue reflection is still going and thats as close to yuri as you can be without actually being yuri.

I've always gotten the feeling that the series is designed for the viewer to spread out their playtime over a long period of time. BInging entries (I binged CS2 specifically) gave me a negative impact on the series. I think it took me around 6 months playing CS3 for 1-2 days every weekend (keep in mind that game specifically has a 100 hour story).

I think CS1 and CS2 have moderately low specs as they were originally PS3/Vita games. You could always play zero / ao which were PSP games ported to PC (and they have high quality fan localizations available).

Yuuka that I watch a lot also suddenly shot up to over 50k outta nowhere. I feel sorta mixed when a small vtuber I like gets popular, because chat gets much harder to respond to, so watching becomes a different experience.

For some reason I forgot about combat agent and it's last episode just aired. That show really grew on me. It's first episode was abysmal but after that it basically got better every week. After finishing the last episode I just wish I could watch the next one, but there won't be for at least a while. It's still not quite as good as konosuba but still good and requires less attention to watch.

So basically every comedy this season started off bad and got great, and every action show started off great and got worse except for I guess 86, it stayed pretty good.

I wonder what day the new anime I care about starts for next season.

She doesn't seem to have significantly more average viewers in the pokemon streams compared to other stuff. She also got shouted out by a few of the clip channels for hitting 50k so that probably spiked up a bit there as well. It's just weird that it happened so suddenly over nothing special. Those 2 videos aren't any better than her other ones, they just happened to get blessed by the algorithm,

Unfortunately popularity in the vtuber sphere really does come down to luck, and what gets picked up by the algorithm to showcase.
