So I'm bored, and I've been playing the first SMB (no not THAT smb) again lately and decided hey what the heck, why not? The gist is, I'll provide a list of 12 teams with their specialties, you pick one, rename any players you wish if any (though the default names are good if you ask me), and...that's it! I'll sim the games and provide results and we'll do a whole season and playoffs, and crown a winner! For anyone not aware, SMB is a charming and goofy baseball game that's lots of fun.

You can change both the team name and the player names, ftr if you wish. Just claim the team here in the topic and PM me here with any changes you wish to make. Each team has 8 fielders, 4 bench, 3 SP, and 3 RP for a total of 18 players. I will wait to take a team and see if all 12 spots get filled easily, if not then I'll take one of the leftovers.

Okay folks, here's the sheet! I don't have a schedule up yet, but I've got just about everything done in game and on the sheet preparation wise. You can find your team in the tabs at the bottom.

The way the season is gonna work, we're gonna start small with a 16 game season. Each team will play each team in their own division twice and each in the oppo division once. Top 2 in each division make the playoffs. Let's go ahead and kick off the first game of the season shall we? It's late and I'm bored and can make the full schedule later. Wingin it!

Game 1 of the Super Mega Baseball Sim League Regular Season! X-men vs Platypi! I don't know that i'm gonna do a writeup for each one, that's a lotta games, but I'mf eelin it right now so why not. I will also be updating the spreadsheet after each game (as that's how I have to keep track of stats) so the stats from this game are already on the sheet!

The game started out fairly strong offensively. Both teams tallied 2 runs in the first 2 innings, then they went through a bit of a cold spell...until the 5th inning. The wheels fell off for the X-men in the 5th, with Storm giving up a 2 run homer, and then in a very questionable move getting pulled early with still plenty in the tank. Relief pitcher Morph came on and promptly allowed 2 inherited runners (that were charged to Storm) to score, along with 2 others. By the time the 5th was over, it was 3-7. The x-men allowed another run in the 7th inning, then an absolutely brutal bad bounce with 1 out, on what should've been a double play, led to 3 more runs scoring, and a final run tacked on in the 8th led to a final score of:

Buccaneers vs Bulbasaurs

The game started off poorly for the Bulbasaurs, as they gave a 2-run and solo homers in the first inning. They managed to pull it together and get one back the next inning, and mostly limit the Bucs to grounders, but they couldn't string enough hits together to really mount a comeback, despite getting some good opportunities to do so, like leadoff doubles. The Bucs SP made it nearly the whole game before getting pulled in the 8th, mostly owing to some poor plate discipline for the Saurs. Hammer Longballo is a name to look out for as he hit 2 HR for the Bucs, and while the Saurs did have some great defensive plays, especially from 1B, the final score was:

Beewolves vs Star Wars
The Beewolves jumped to a 1-0 lead to start things off, chaining several hits off Lando Calrissian. Things went back and forth until the 6th inning, when the backend of the SW roster went bonkers. Anakin Skywalker and The Sarlacc launched 2-run and solo bombs to make it 4-2. The next inning Obi-Wan got a homer. Lando Calrissian calmed down after the initial couple innings and went the distance, for a final score of:

Moonstars vs Blowfish

Things got off to a rough start for both teams, as both homered in the 1st inning. Then both teams had great chances they squandered to try and take the lead; the Blowfish had 2 on 1 out in the 3rd, and the Moonstars had a man on 3rd with NO outs, only to line out 3 straight batters. Then the 6th inning happened. The Moonstars were able to string together a couple of hits and bring one across...then the Blowfish went back to back homers in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-2. Then, disaster in the 8th. Absolutely poor management by the Moonstars, they left their star pitcher in after he was clearly gassed, and he promptly gave up 5 straight hits and a walk, including an in the park homerun by the Blowfish and another legit homerun, before finally getting pulled, but the damage was done.

To be fair, although 4 runs isn't stellar, it's not terrible. He really should have been pulled, game was well within reach. Just poor ingame management more than anything.

Orange Army vs Moose
This was the most compelling game so far. Things started off quick, with a double and a triple for the Moose to make it 1-0 after 1. Then, pitching dominance happened. No more runs scored until the 6th, when the Moose were able to get a man on 3rd with no outs and end up making it 2-0. The Wild Pigs got out of a jam in the 8th with 2 on 1 out and keep the game in reach, but they needed a miracle 9th. Lord Skeletor launched a solo shot with 1 out, 2-1. Could it happen? Another player got a double with 2 outs that JUST made it past the left fielder's outstretched glove. COULD IT HAPPEN!?
...next batter up, line out to shortstop. Complete game 1 ER performance from the Moose's Rihannon Cannon.

Emerald Snax vs Hedgehogs

As seems to be the the trend, the scoring started early, with a 2-run HR by the Snax, followed by a solo shot from the Hedgies. The Hedgehogs launched another one in the 4th inning to tie it up, then came utter disaster in the 5th, with a failure to turn a double play led to a 4-run inning for the Snax. The Hedgehogs did get one more back in the 6th, then things got interesting in the 9th. Men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, tying run at the plate. He hits a flyout to centerfield...and the runners try to advance, and the man to 3rd gets beaten by a lot for a game ending double play.

Star Wars vs Hedgehogs

Both teams landed solo shots in the 2nd inning, but Star Wars launched another in the 4th, and again in the 8th to make it 3-1. In the 5th, the Hedgehogs got out of a bases loaded 2-out situation to keep it close, and in the 9th inning, things got REAL interesting as Wars pitcher Han Solo was running out of gas and gave up a single and an RBI Triple with 1 out to make it 3-2. After logging one more out, Padme Amidala was brought on for the 1 pitch save.

Homers was the name of this game, as the X-men launched a 2-run shot in the 2nd, followed by back to back jacks in the 4th, then a 3-run in the 7th, while the Beewolves remained scoreless until a 2-run HR in the 6th. The outcome was never really close though.

also, something that I've been made aware of as I play the game, because these are exhibitions in-game, I can't set the lineup the way I want for a cpu vs cpu game. As such, the SPs are completely random, so I restart in-game (takes like 5 seconds not a big deal) till I get pitchers that haven't pitched yet. However, if I keep at the current pace of everyone playing the same amt of games in sequence, I will eventually have scenarios where both teams need 1 pitcher to play and I"ll be stuck restarting till I happen to get both at once. Therefore, expect to see some teams play staggered games this week to try and offset that some.
