Star Wars vs Platypi
This was a highly offensive game, with the 8th inning being the only one that no runs were scored in, so I'll keep it rather brief till the end. Both teams traded the lead thru the first 5 innings with Star Wars entering the 6th, then in the 8th we had the catch of the year from Anakin skywalker, straight up force jumping up the wall to rob the Platypi of the game tying homerun. It looked like that would be the end, as 2 more runs for SW came in the 9th, but the Platypi got 2 more of their own to get back within 1, but their final hitter grounded to the pitcher to end the game. Overall a real thriller of a game though.

Bulbasaurs vs Blowfish
This was a pitchers duel...except for the 4th, when all 5 runs in the game were scored. However, the Bulbasaurs logged 3 thanks to back-to-back homers, while the Blowfish only managed 2. Mori gets a complete game win.

Bulbasaurs - 3
Blowfish - 2

Now that every team has played every other team in their division (Or close to it, there were some accidental out of division games early on) the next slate of games will be Interleague Play! After each team has played the other division teams once each, we will go back for the 2nd set of intraleague play!

Hedgehogs vs Orange Army
One bad pitch can change it all. We carried a scoreless game into the 6th, when the OA hit a 3 run homerun to put them way up. The hedgehogs finally did wake up a bit, getting a sac fly next inning, before Lord Skeletor hit a HR to make it 4-1. In the 9th, the Hedgehogs got a solo shot of their own, before an extremely terrible sequence to end the game. Tying run at the plate, man on 1st with one out, the 1st man tries to steal and gets run down, followed by the batter striking out next pitch. Tough way to end it.

Hedgehogs - 2
Orange Army - 4

Miles Prower remains one of the only starters to yet log a hit or a walk, but his ingame metrics lean towards fielding anyway and it showed tonight, as he made a great sliding catch and subsequent rocket to 3rd to hold the runner, followed by a catch and subsequent gun-down at 3rd for a double play the next batter. Awful hitter, great fielder. On the plus side, Knuckles Echidna is leading the league in RBI with 12 in 6 games. Insane pace.

Emerald Snax vs Moonstars
The Snax got a solo HR in the 3rd and that would be all the runs we saw till late. THe moonstars couldn't bring home 2 separate good scoring chances, having corners with 1 out in the 3rd and bases loaded with no outs in the 5th, and getting 0 runs from them. Finally, in the 7th, they got a leadoff double into double to tie the game, but the Snax got another run of their own (by the reliever!) in the 8th and the topper in the 9th.

Star Wars vs Buccaneers
A clash of titans as both teams are 4-1, and this'll be their only match unless they both make the finals! This one was all Star Wars as they got the season's I think first Grand Slam in the first inning! They launched a 2 run shot in the 6th. Meanwhile, Han Solo carried a shutout into the 8th before giving up a 2 run homer of his own, but the lead was well safe by then.

Woof. Too many runs to list, so...

Platypi - 16
Moose - 5

Platypi pitcher Donk Oh has 4 hits in 7 AB and he hit his first HR tonight. The platypi also had the year's first inside the park home run! It was 10-1 going into the 8th before the moose came alive and dropped a 4-spot...only for the platypi to drop 6 in the 9th. >.>

Gina Torrens stole 2 bases and was driven in by a groundout in the 1st inning to give the beewolves the lead, and that's all we'd see until the 6th inning. The beewolves questionably gave their pitcher an early hook, and the reliever promptly gave up 2 runs. She settled after that, but the damage was done.

Blowfish vs X-men
The X-men started us off by going double-double in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. They tacked on 2 more in the 6th by playing small ball, and the Blowfish got one back that inning. Then in the 8th, the fish clobbered a tying 2R HR, so we headed to extras as no more runs were scored!

In extras, the X-men hit a clutch single with 2 outs to take the lead, and although they let a couple get on base, they were able to make it out of the inning without giving up any runs.

The sheet has been updated with the leaders in stats! On the team side, the Platypi have the best offense by far, having almost a .400 OBP with 50 runs, 17 more than 2nd place. The Orange Army and Blowfish have allowed the fewest runs at 17. Star Wars has the most homers at 16 (A couple of teams have 15.)

On the player side, Kitty Kauffman (PLT) continues to lead in OBP at .571
Gina Torrens (BEE) still leads in steals with 3
Hammer Longballo (BUC) still leads in HR with 7
We have a new RBI leader, Knuckles Echidna (HDG) leads with 12!

As for the standings overall, there's still plenty of time as the parity is unrivaled in our league. 3 teams above .500, 3 teams below, and the rest are 3-3.

X-men vs Orange Army
The X-men looked good early, stringing some hits together and getting an early 1-0 lead. That's all we had until the 6th but boy did these last 4 innings make up for it. The x-men hit a 2-run HR, and then the Army would start their comeback. They got a double RBI in the 7th and could've had 2 if their man didn't get caught stealing. They BARELY stretched a double into another run, the guy barely beating the throw after coming all the way from 1st. We had a tie game going into the 9th, and in the bottom of that 9th we have a WALKOFF HOMERUN, by the pinch runner from the previous inning for the OA Antonio Cesaro!

X-men - 3
Orange Army - 6

X-men reliever Wolverine might well be the worst reliever in the league this year. His velocity and junk ratings are solid but his accuracy is among the worst, he can hardly find the strike zone and he's now given up 11 runs in 5.2 innings.

Emerald Snax vs Blowfish
The Blowfish start us off with a monster double whopper in the 2nd inning (2 run homer), while the Snax would take until the 5th to get one across the plate on an RBI groundout. Then, despite being a defense-oriented team, the Snax made a couple of errors that directly led to some blowfish runs. With 1 out and the bases loaded, they got a groundout to 2nd who then tried to turn to 1st, adn the 1B drops the ball and allows the run to score instead of ending the inning. I'm not sure if the throw would've beaten the runner anyway but it didn't matter. Then the next batter, the Blowfish attempt a steal of 2nd which briefly pulled the SS out his position as he went to cover 2nd...right out of the way of being able to field the ball, which led to 2 more runs. As well as some general laziness in the OF like not diving for possibly-catchable balls, those didn't help. The Snax finally got some offense in the 9th with a 2 run homer, but it wasn't enough as the blowfish offense keeps on chugging.

Star Wars vs Moonstars
The Battle of the Stars was a tale of poor defense from the Moonstars. The game started off innocuous enough, a 2-1 moonstars lead at the end of 4. In the 5th though, with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, a deep drive to left goes over the head of the outfielder when if he had jumped, the ball would likely have been caught. This turned out to be crucial because even though the runner'd have scored anyway, the next AB was a fly out, and the NEXT AB was a 3 run home run that gave SW a 5-2 lead. If the OF had caugth that ball, there'd have been 2 outs and hte flyout would have ended the inning. SW tacked on a grand slam in the 7th as Slip Sauder was very inaccurate, barely making it out of the 5th due to having long ABs with many balls thrown.

Also, star wars stole their first base of the season lol. They are stronk but they are not fast.

We had a masterful pitching performance by both sides in this one, as this game went scoreless until the 8th. We never even really had an urgent situation, like 2 on no out or man on 3rd 1 out, or anything like that. But alas, in the 8th, Jet Hawk gave up a 2 run homer that would be the decider. Beewolves vs Moose
The Beewolves started us off with a run in the 1st, but it could've been more with some better baserunning. With runners on 1st and 2nd 1 out, the hitter hits a ball into the outfield that the runner at 2nd holds off on because they think it might be caught, ends up not caught, and they can only make it to 3rd. Next bat is a double play which cost them a run. The moose get a run the next inning but also waste a bases loaded, no out situation by going K, flyout, ground out. Then in the 5th, the Moose get a 2 run homer, while in the 7th, the teams trade homers. Buster bigs had a not so great game, he got a couple of hits but lazy fielding early on cost a run, then he got caught stealing later, and here in the 8th wiht the tying run at the plate he strikes out looking on an easy ball down the middle, with increased stats because of the pressure. We do get some drama in the 9th though, wiht a solo shot bringing the beewolves to within 1 and the next batter getting on base, but the final batter grounds out on a barely-fair ball to 1st.

Buccaneers vs Platypi
The Bucs started off fast with a leadoff homer, but Stoobey Tubrek was able to settle down some, until the 5th inning when he gave up a 2 run homer. The platypi meanwhile grounded into 6 double plays in the game and could not get ANYTHING going until the 7th, when they went back to back deep to give themselves some hope. They also got a man on 3rd with one out but could not capitalize. That hope was promptly crushed next inning by poor defensive effort, as 2 grounders that could have been stopped with dives but instead went right by a lazy defense. That proved costly as with 1 out, the Bucs put the game well out of reach with a grand slam.

Well hey, the platypi did get a couple hits in the 8th to make it 8-4, but still...oh what's this? in the 9th, you had 3 hits in a row culminating in a 3 run homer with 0 outs!! 1 run game, could they do it!? Bulbasaurs vs Emerald Snax
A battle between 2 defensive teams saw this game go scoreless until the 7th inning, when all hell broke loose. The Saurs chased Scoopy Banoopy from the game by putting up 4 runs in that inning (including a bases-loaded walk), ruining a good start, while the Snax responded by launching back to back homers and getting a couple more on base, chasing Gawr Gura from the game as well, before GIDP > groundout to end the inning with no further runs. The Bulbasaurs however, would keep the pressure on and the Snax completely folded under it. The Saurs put up 2 more runs in each of the 8th and 9th, a duo of innings in which the defense from the Snax completely collapsed with several stoppable balls and a flubbed 1B catch.

So after the first 9 games for everyone, we're just past the halfway point of the season, let's take a look at some stats! The Blowfish are far and away the best team right now with an insane 23 homers and +32 run differential. Star wars and Platypi aren't far behind in offense but their pitching needs to step it up some. Along with the fish, the Bulbasaurs have allowed only 25 earned runs to pace the league.

On the individual side, Kitty kauffman of the platypi and Seinfeld of the fish are head and shoulders above the rest of the league, over 57% OBP. Kauffman, Gina Torrens of the Beewolves, and Juggernaut of the x-men have 3 steals. Hammer Longballo continues to lead the league in homers with 8, while Knuckled Echidna of the Hedgehogs has taken over the lead in RBIs with 13!

Too lazy to do pitchers right now, but eyeballin it, we have Cyclops of the X-men, Hurley Bender of the Beewolves, Calliope Mori of the Bulbasaurs, Tim Spoony-Barger of the Orange Army (1.17 ERA and .52 WHIP!!!), Slip Vanderwink of the Bucs, Elmo Slayer of the Moonstars, all 3 starters from the Blowfish (Peterman is right behind TSB of the OA in ERA/WHIP), Han Solo and Lando of Star Wars, Daddy Cakelegs and Mothza Supreme of the Emerald Snax, Donk Oh of the Platypi, and Shadow Hedgehog of the Hedgehogs all having years ranging from slightly above average to all-time-great-if-they-were-in-MLB type years.

Moose vs Star Wars
I was left in awe at how this game ended. The Moose start off the scoring with a leadoff homer, and we go scoreless from there until the 5th when the Moose add on a sac fly. Then, in the 7th, Star wars gets a solo homer to cut the lead to one, and in the 9th with their backs against the wall, they hit another solo homer to tie it! The moose are unable to end it there so we go to extras, then tragedy strikes. With 2 outs, General Greivous is up to bat with minimum stats due to the pressure of the situation, with a man on 3rd, and manages to not only hit the ball (I rarely see CPUs hit the ball with minimum contact rating) but hits it to the fence to drive in 2 runs. The saddest part though, is that if the outfielder had just jumped, he'd have a great shot to just catch the ball. Instead he just runs to it and it goes right over him, just inexcusable. The moose are then unable to score in the 10th. Just a heartbreaking way to lose a game after largely holding a tremendous offensive team off the board for so long.

Star Wars - 4
Moose - 2
