Orange Army vs Platypi
Things got off to a rollickin good start for the OA, as their pitcher logged 3 Ks and Lord Skeletor launched a leadoff homerun. The score would stay 1-0 until the 5th, but the platypi started to fight back, when they hit a solo shot to tie it up, then scored another 2 in the 6th to take the lead. But the Army came right back with 2 runs of their own to make it a 3-3 tie until the 8th inning, when the Army hit another solo HR in what would be the difference maker.

Buccaneers vs Moonstars
In a battle of aces, both teams gave up quite a few bases (the bucs SP walked 5 in 6 innings) but managed to carry a scoreless affair into the 5th. Then, things got...interesting.

The Moonstars in the bottom of the 5th logged a 2 run-homer and another run to make it 3-0, then the Bucs came storming back and got a couple of runs to cut the deficit. They tied it up in the 7th, but the moonstars got it right back in the 7th. The Bucs would not go away though, tying it back up in the 8th. Then, disaster. The Moonstars subbed in their 2nd reliever of the game, and he promptly gave up back to back homers to the heart of the Bucs order. That would be the decider of the game.

Moose vs Emerald Snax
This was a really good game. Once again we have a leadoff homer, as the Moose took an early 1-0 lead. Things would stay quiet until the 5th inning, when the Snax took it right back on a solo homer, and then managed to load the bases with 0 outs. The Moose buckled down, however, and got out of that jam with no further damage thanks to the rare 1-man double play. They then loaded the bases themselves with 2 outs the next inning but no runs would cross. The snax put 2 more on base with 2 outs that inning, but the man on 2nd tried to make it home on a hit and was thrown out. Finally, however, the Snax got a 2 run HR to take the lead in the 7th, and tacked on 2 more runs in the 8th. Things got interesting in the 9th, when the Snax RP walked 3 in a row with 1 out, but the Moose next hitter grounded into a double play to end the game.

Orange Army vs Bulbasaurs
Lord Skeletor almost launched his 2nd leadoff HR in as many games, but just came up short. Fast forward to the 2nd inning, when the Bulbasaurs hit a solo HR to take the lead, only to give one right back in the 3rd to tie it at 1 all. Then oh my goodness, with 2 outs Alfhilde Odinsdottr came maybe as close as I've seen to a HR without getting it. We're talking INCHES, but it instead bounced off the edge of the warning track and back in play for a triple, where the Saurs were unable to capitalize. No more runs scored until the 7th, when the Army hit another solo home run. In the 8th, the Saurs managed to get the bases loaded with 1 out, but the man on 3rd tried to make it home and was soundly beaten by the throw. Down 1 in the bottom of the 9th, the Army's relief had to navigate the heart of the order...and the Saurs get a leadoff triple! Could they mount the comeback!?

Well not yet. They did sacrifice fly out to tie it up, but no more. WE'RE GOIN TO EXTRAS BABY!

In the 10th, both teams got a man on 3rd with 2 outs and were unable to capitalize, then in the 11th, this happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QixQMUu4CKI

Just absolutely brutal way for the Army to take the lead...and the game, though what a good one it was. The dude even jumped for it unlike that clip and it just...plunked off him and over. It might have been going over anyway but regardless, he had a chance and he couldn't reel it in.

Buccaneers vs Blowfish
Hammer Longballo continues to make a case for the top hitter in baseball, as he crushes a solo home run in the 1st inning for the Bucs. In the 3rd, the Blowfish get a run on a liner that JUST goes over 3rd base, but the Bucs take the lead again next inning on a hit to bring who else--Longballo--home. The 5th inning got squirrely with the Blowfish getting several hits and a run, but sadly left the rest on base; a theme for this game for them. Next in the 6th, Longballo AGAIN comes through with a 2 run home run to make it 4-2. Then things get REALLY hairy for the Bucs in the 8th and 9th. In the 8th, their SS flubs an easy double play and allows 2 men to reach base, but luckily for them the next batter grounds into a DP. However, in the 9th the SAME PLAYER flubs a hard hit line drive with a man on 3rd to make the score 3-4. However, again for like the 4th time, the Blowfish leave multiple men on base to end the inning, and the game.

Platypi vs Hedgehogs
An extremely interesting start, the Hedgehogs bring in a couple of runs on a triple and a single in the opening frame, but then the Platypi strike back even harder in the bottom of the inning, thanks to an untimely error. With 2 outs, the 2B flubbed an easy grounder leading to a runner from 2nd scoring, and then the following batter launched a 2-run homer. All that could have been avoided had the guy just made the catch. Then the Platypi widened the lead with a 3 run shot in the 3rd, but the hedgehogs kept it close by getting a 2 run HR the next inning. The Platypi would not relent though, as they logged a run each of the next 2 innigns to make it 8-4 through 5. Things would hold until the final inning, when the Hedgehogs managed to get a couple runs and get the tying run at the plate with 2 outs...only for him to strike out looking to end the game.

Star Wars vs Emerald Snax
Both pitching staff were, quite frankly, very bad in this one. Both teams got 3 runs in the first inning, but SW quickly doubled that over the next couple of innings. The Snax, however, made a game of it by going back to back HR in the 6th and tying it up in the 8th, 6-6. Then the SW closed the door on that rally by logging 3 runs in the 8th.

Bulbasaurs vs Moose
Phew, what a ride this was. The Moose jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a couple of hits in the opening frame, but the bulbs got one back the next inning.
Then they launched a 2 run homer to take the lead 2 innings later.
Then the Moose launched a 2 run homer to take the lead 2 innings later.
Then the Bulbs launched a 2 run homer to take the lead 2 innings later. You get the idea. The in the bottom of the 9th, the Moose clutch gene activated and managed to tie it up. EXTRA BASEBALL!

In the 10th, the Bulbasaurs actually made a smart baseball move and bunted a guy on 1st ahead to 2nd with 1 out. Then with 2 outs, the move paid off with a single bringing that runner home. The Moose finally ran out of juice, with 3 straight pop outs.

It's extra tough because I forgot to mention, early on the moose had a situation where a runner rounded 3rd and tried to make it home, only for the throw to get there and the runner tried to turn around like 2/3 down the basepath. All this with 0 outs. He could have easily just held at 3rd and been brought home on a sac fly or something but instead he was easily tagged out.

Moonstars vs X-men
After 2 games of lackluster pitching, pressure was on Elmo Slayer to deliver the Moonstars first win, and he came out and spun a gem: 7.1 IP, WHIP under 1, 2 ER (1 wasn't his fault), and 3 Ks. On the other end, Cyclops was almost as impressive: he only went 6 IP but only TWO hits...unfortunately one of those was a 2 run HR, so one bad pitch can change everything.

Anyway, that HR was in the 4th, and the X-men got a run back on a sac fly in the 6th. The Moonstars notched another run the next inning, and then in the 8th the X-men got one of the flukiest runs I've ever seen (the one Slayer was not only not responsible for, he wasn't even on the field for; it was an inherited runner): the ball careened toward 3rd and hit the base, and popped OVER the 3rd baseman's head to allow all runners to reach safely. 3-2 going into the 9th when the X-men bullpen fell apart, allowing 3 more runs. 3-and-out for them in the bottom of the 9th and...

Beewolves vs Blowfish
Sadly, the Beewolves were never really in this one, giving up 5 straight hits and 3 runs to start the game. It only spiraled down from there, with their starter giving up 8 total runs in 6.1 innings. As a bright spot though, Buster Bigs hit 2 HR for them! Other than that, their offense was just about as anemic.

Orange Army vs Buccaneers
Both teams best hitters, Lord Skeletor and Hammer Longballo, continue to make a case for the best hitter in the league, as they both launched home runs in the 1st inning. The Bucs however, launched another one in the 2nd to make it 4-1. The PITCHER hit one in the 5th, but the Army managed to string some hits together in the 6th and make it 5-3. In the 7th, the Army failed to turn a double play that would have ended the inning and instead it becomes 6-3. In the 9th, drama. The Army hits a solo HR, then the next batter triples, putting the tying run on base. That batter hits a foul that ALMOST falls out of bounds but is instead caught for the final out.

Hedgehogs vs Beewolves
Both of these teams may have been winless, but this was one for the ages.

The beewolves got first blood with a solo home run, but the Hedgehogs punched back harder with a back-to-back next inning. The Beewolves punched back EVEN HARDER with a 3 run 2nd, and tacked on another in the 3rd. The Hedgehogs closed the gap with a 2 run homer in the 5th, only for the beewolves to do the same and open it right back up, we're at 4-7. Hedgies get another run in the 6th, and then they avert catastrophe by getting out of a bases-loaded, 0 out jam by striking out the next 3 batters (Based Jet Hawk). They just won't stay down!

Fast forward to the 9th inning, down 2, Knuckles the Echidna vaults himself into the hitter of the year discussion with his 2nd homerun of the game to tie it up! Bottom of the 9th, the first batter strikes out then OH MY GOODNESS, WALKOFF HOMERUN! First one of the year I believe!

Hedgehogs - 7
Beewolves - 8

*Also side note, we also saw all 3 of a team's relievers for the first time: The Hedgehogs SP was very inefficient, routinely going into long ABs without leading to outs, so they were done by the 4th inning.

Bulbasaurs vs Moonstars

This had the makings of a pitchers' duel early on, as we went scoreless until the 4th inning when the bulbasaurs BARELY beat a tag out at home to get on the board, while their pitcher Gawr Gura made it perfect the first time through the order before finally giving up a couple hits in the 4th (but no run). In the 5th however, a leadoff triple gave the Moonstars their first tally, and then a clutch RBI by the PITCHER drives home another. In the 6th, the Moonstars Rusty Bustum busts a moonshot 2 run homerun to make it 4-1. Slip Sauder throws a complete game gem, 1 run and 6 hits.

Star Wars vs X-men
Moff Tarkin ordered the ball to leave the stadium in the opening frame to give SW the early lead, but the X-men came so close to tying in the first couple of innings. They had multiple runners on base both times and couldn't seal it, including a baffling fielding choice by SW to throw a non-force (no pun intended) 3rd base with 1 out...when he took the ball near 1st and could have easily tagged out for the 2nd out. Instead, both runners ended up safe, and the x-men couldn't bring one home. However, back to back triples in the 3rd see them take the lead 2-1! They tally a 2 run HR in the 4th to increase that lead, and an RBI GIDP in the 6th, with Cyclops having settled down since that opening inning HR. In the 8th, the x-men strike again with a double that AL-MOST left the yard, and then added 2 more with a ball that DID leave the yard. Star Wars never scored after that opening home run.

Emerald Snax vs Platypi
This was a great game. Things didn't get going until the 3rd inning, with an RBI double by the platypi. They got another in the 4th with an arguably botched catch by the snax; the ball was right at the wall and if the OF had jumped he could have had it, instead it bounced off into his glove for an RBI double, then another in the 5th with a solo HR by standout Kitty Kauffman (who is now 11/17 for the season). Meanwhile, later that inning the Snax finally got their first run via homer, but then things shifted in the 7th. The 2nd error of the game for the platypi SS led to 2 men on base with no outs for the Snax, and a clutch pinch hit double brought both of them home to tie the game, then the PITCHER loops a blooper single to bring the PH home to take the lead! In the 8th, the Platypi bring on a reliever with 1 out to go and promptly give up a home run, but all was not lost yet! Down to their final 2 outs, Kauffman struck again with an RBI triple bringing the lead down to 1...but the heart of the order could not close the deal.

Moonstars vs Orange Army
This was a pitchers duel from the beginning, with moon pitcher Alisha Woodrow not letting anyone on base the first time thru the order, while OA pitcher Big E was nearly as impressive. Skip to the 4th, the OA get on the board first in what has to be the weirdest thing I've seen: The player's power rating is either so high or it's a glitch, that he hit the ball off the dirt in front of him and it STILL careened into the outfield for an RBI. The Moonstars didn't really see a good scoring opportunity until the 7th, when they got a leadoff triple...but they went 2 groundouts to the pitcher and a strikeout to waste that chance. Then, in the 9th...my god.

Big E induces the grounder, the throw to 1st is FLUBBED, on a routine out, allowing the first runner to reach for the Moonstars. Next AB, it's a ground out at 2nd but the new runner is still on 1st, then it's a 2-run homer, which would have only been a solo shot if the 1st baseman hadn't flubbed the play earlier. Big E was running on fumes and should've been taken out after the first out but still. The OA can't make the comeback in the bottom of the 9th and Moon pitcher Woodrow turns in possibly the best start of the season: 9 IP, 1R, 2 H, 1 BB

Moose vs Buccaneers
This battle between power hitting teams looked like a pitcher's duel early on instead, both teams going scoreless thru 3, until one Hammer Longballo got the Bucs on the board with a 2 run homer. They tacked one each on the next 2 innings while the moose remained scoreless until... the 9th. My goodness, the 9th. For the Moose:
1st batter - double
2nd - HR
3rd - HR
4th - single
5th - HR

And that, folks, is how you blow a lead. Bucs P Manny Kays was having a stellar outing and all the manager had to do was pull him after that 1st HR (he was gassed), instead...

X-men vs Hedgehogs
There will be accusations of juiced balls after this one, but Colonial Plaza is also the most hitter-friendly park. The 1st started with a bang, with a solo shot by the X-men only for the Hedgies to counter with a 3 run boomba by Knuckles. The X-men got another HR in the 3rd, only for Knuckles to drive in another on the ground in the 5th. Then in the 7th, for the first time this season, we had back to back TO BACK homers, including one by the reliever for the Hedgehogs! Tack on one more in the 8th, and in total there were SEVEN home runs, and the Hedgehogs are winless no more!

Things got hairy early for the beewolves as the snax got a leadoff triple...and then went groundout, flyout, thrown out at home (on the sac fly attempt) to get out of it. Boy would that come back to haunt them, as the beewolves logged the only run OF THE GAME on a solo HR in the 4th. Yolanda Cooper had a complete game shutout with 5 Ks, 4 H and 1 BB. Masterful stuff from her tonight.

Emerald Snax - 0
Beewolves - 1

Cooper gets a raise! That's ace potential right there! Keep it up my girl! Raise to whoever hit the home run as well. Won't be too hard on everyone else as it looked like it was a good defensive effort as well. Go Beewolves!
