Ill be honest: I clearly overrated Monas Girlfriendness when I made this Excel sheet. I dont know why I put her at 62, she should be at like 40. I dont want to redo everything below her, though, so whatever. Point is, she has an interesting skill, but a waifu whose defining gimmick is that shes always poor is fighting an uphill battle. Maybe dont spend so much money on what I assume are very expensive fancy witch clothes? Worse than that, shes also got a lie detection gimmick, which, I dont know. I dont particularly plan on lying to my waifu, but something like that is going to be in the back of my mind a lot. And her only real love in life is for astrology research? Blegh. One time I was talking casually to my sisters friend and she was like oh yeah astrology is totally real and I changed the subject.

Her personality? Again, yes, its cute. I watched a bit of her on YouTube, and you know what? Astrologers must rid themselves of material desires. Ive gotta take the opposite opinion here, Im sorry. Material desires are pretty good. Do you know how many materials I desire? A lot. Im not sure this relationship is going to work out. Add to that her bluntness and pride, and, eh, yes, cute as a temporary thing, but I dont know how long that will last. Also, apparently her specialty dish is Satisfying Salad? Sorry, I dont need my crit rate increased by 9% for 300 seconds very often.

So, I didnt account for this in the Attractiveness category, but Ill mention it here anyway: her voice acting, at least in English, is bad? Its definitely not good. I get that shes going for like prideful, semi-mysterious mage, but I dont know what to say, this is not my ideal waifu voice.

What motivated the choice of Erika as a Pokemon waifu nomination? There are a billion Pokewaifus, and FL81 chose Erika? Erika has to be the most forgettable Gen 1 gym leader, right? Either her or Koga.

Its hard to really rank a Pokemon character from Gen 1, since they barely have personalities at all, except for the always-wonderful Gary (hell always be Gary to me). Like, I looked it up on Bulbapedia, and in RBY, she has four snippets of dialogue, one of which is You should make room for this.

Well, regardless. Erika is another example of the Yamato Nadeshiko maybe. Her dialogue doesnt really imply that she is, and in fact sort of implies the opposite. But she definitely has that kind of visual aesthetic, so Im counting her as one. Im actually not counting that against her for Personality, because the only actual displays of personality in-game are I would never collect Pokemon if they were unattractive and Oh dear I must have dozed off. So, were talking about a waifu who only likes cute things, flower arrangements, and daytime naps. It gets worse if we count the anime, where despite her job being to fight challengers at her gym, she refuses to let boys fight her.

Despite all of this, Erika is still a gym leader in a major city. Like, Celadon is the biggest city in Kanto, isnt it? Thats a really respectable, impressive job, and I am just going to go out on a limb here and assume shes also a master gardener, because how could she not be.

Erika is the best gym leader, uses my favorite type, typically carries at least one from my favorite evo line, and is generally the best Pokegirl.

Jessicas Personality was the hardest element of her waifuness to properly rate. She starts off as a nervous wreck who slowly evolves into being more confident and therefore worthy of her Green Lantern status (which relies on the person having high willpower), and thats sort of the issue. I guess I should use the post-character development version, but her personality then becomes sort of generic superhero? Like, Ive read a few comics with Jessica, Im not a comics expert, and after she gets over her tragic backstory (I wonder how common tragic backstories are in comics relative to non-tragic backstories), she has a very bog-standard personality thats maybe slightly more introverted than normal. Thats good if youre a space cop, but I imagine its going to it kind of difficult to hang out with.

Speaking of superheroes, not only is Jessica Cruz a superhero, shes a Green Lantern. At least more adventurer waifus can be relied upon to stay on Earth, Green Lanterns have to patrol the entire universe, and occasionally other dimensions. Its going to be nonstop super-issues for her to deal with that will both send her across the multiverse and make me totally unable to connect with her.

Like certain other waifus, Jessicas score is buoyed by having one category way above the others. In her case, its Attractiveness. Not much else to say there, I cant imagine many people disagree with the rating I gave her.

Sorry, Jessica. You need something really special to overcome the problem of being a superhero waifu, and you dont quite manage that.

Yeah, that's one of the better Grass type teams you could have in Gen 1. The only way it could be better is replacing one of them with Exeggutor, since they weren't going to give her a Venusaur.

There are only six grass type lines in gen 1 and Parasect is easily and hilariously the 6th best of them

Erika doesn't have the actually good one, Exeggutor, and they can't give her #2, Venusaur, but they gave her Victreebel, the one other gen 1 grass type that is actually pretty strong, and Vileplume and Tangela are at least better than Parasect, although she forgot to teach her Tangela any moves in R/B so it's pretty pathetic.

Parasect at least has spore, which could trip up an unprepared ten year-old.

What was the exact point when Fire Emblem turned into Waifu Emblem? Because it wasnt like that when I was a kid. The only notable waifu in the series was Lyn. Even back then, almost every character except the mages and myrmidons at least wore some armor. Basically, what Im saying is, did Awakening turning the series into a waifu marriage simulator save Fire Emblem?

Anyway, Shamir. I guess it goes without saying that I like her medieval pseudo-goth look? I dont even know how to describe it. Bright colors are normally well and good, but sometimes a waifu can pull off dark or muted colors, and Shamir is such a waifu.

Mayyyyybe Im slightly overrating her Personality. I can see her personality being off-putting to some people or in some contexts. But honestly, I know a ton of people who basically just do not stop talking ever. My friends and family consist mostly of people who just must have the last word in, must relate ideas using the maximum number of words (Im guilty of this as well), and so on. A waifu whos basically just blunt and to the point is kind of refreshing, even if shes slightly rude about it.

But yeah, her Girlfriendness. Not just an adventurer, but a mercenary as well. And in medieval times. There actually are a few endings where shell settle down, but the vast majority of times, Shamir goes back to wandering around the world as an anonymous adventurer. This is almost as bad as being a One Piece pirate. And even when shes not adventuring, shes fighting in gigantic wars or battling monsters or something.

Checking my Excel sheet briefly, Shamir is the highest-ranking waifu with a <30 score in Girlfriendness, the third highest waifu with a <35, and the second highest with a <30 in any category. Were almost at the point where you just cant compete anymore with the traditional two high scores, one low score waifus, with one notable exception we wont get to for a while.

Shamir's great but then I love the deadpan snarker archetype. She's also one of the more-level headed characters in the game and it's interesting hearing some of her opinions on things as an outside to Fodlan.
