I think its agreed that Kingdom Hearts has the most needlessly convoluted lore of any video game series, right? This series entire plot should have just been Disney and Final Fantasy planets coexist, and a teenage boy goes on an adventure to stop an evil wizard who wants to blow up the galaxy. Ive watched multiple KH lore videos and I still dont fully understand them. One of them, the only thing I took away is that a guy can magically track anyone with an X on their clothes.

Aquas got a really strong personality, and shes really awesome, reliable, and fairly smart. Aqua has a slight wrinkle in that shes a bit arrogant thanks to being the best at everything. I mean, what, she treats her friends a little childishly because shes afraid theyre going to act like idiot children, and then they go out and act like idiot children? Its also a bit weird, because shes still sort of modest in other ways, and she does the standard cute girl thing of blushing and acting embarrassed when romance is brought up. All-in-all, quality waifu personality.

Aquas also got a really solid visual design, though I have no idea what those not-sleeves are for. Again, though, Aquas big flaw as a waifu is that shes yet another professional adventurer. Not even just an adventurer, an adventurer in the Kingdom Hearts universe. At any moment, she might go to another planet, get phased into an alternate dimension, go back in time, or turn into a digital copy of her own brain patterns.

Maybe I should take a moment to say that Im not sure how I feel about blue hair on a waifu. Why is blue hair so much more common than other fake colors of hair? In fact, Id guess its the most common unnatural dyed hair color in real life, too, but why? Why not green or something? Very strange.

Anyway, if you dont mind the adventurer element, then Aqua is a very strong waifu.

Alright, so this was a hard waifu to properly rank the Girlfriendness of, because shes a prostitute, but shes working toward becoming a teacher or a nurse, but also shes a robot with the body of a thirteen year-old, but also she can just upgrade to be an adult if she really wants to, but also she hates dogs (dogs are cool), but also but also but also. I actually didnt even consider if there would be any prostitute waifus nominated for this topic, and Ill admit Im not sure how to rate it. Honestly, Id say a lot of Dorothys waifu status depends on how much you care about her being a prostitute. The videos of her I watched on YouTube show her being completely fine with and proud of it. I guess they might have a different perspective of prostitutes in 207X, I dont know, but her Girlfriendness score on this list assumes that shes serious about transitioning jobs.

Aside from being programmed with a random fear and landing on dogs (which, as I stated earlier, are cool) and chinchillas (which are okay), which will be a problem because dogs are pretty damn common, her personality is also fairly solid. I guess I have a problem with her being angry when people treat her like a kid despite choosing to look thirteen, though. Its one thing if youre like a vampire who got turned when she was ten years old or whatever and theres nothing you can do about it, but when you make a conscious decision to look like an eighth grader, Im going to say you surrender any right to complain about that.

Little aside, I watched some of the game on YouTube, and the part where the person talks to Dorothy has Cup Noodles being advertised in the background. Cup Noodles are going to come up three times in this list that I know of, what the hell is with that?

The Zoologists status as a waifu is going to depend largely on how much you care about werewolf waifus. Personally, Im sort of ambivalent. I guess shes only a werewolf while theres a full moon, so thats not too big of a deal.

So, the Zoologist is weirdly not an actual zoologist, but instead a merchant who sells pet-related stuff. Basically, she runs a one-man PetCo, I guess. Honestly? Decent waifu job. Its not great, but its reliable. Im a little worried that shes going to want to have a lot of pets, when Im like a two pet maximum sort of guy, but hey, compromise. Apparently, she hates desert biomes, though. I doubt thatll apply to Los Angeles, since were only kind of a desert.

Personality, shes great about everything except that she has a valley girl accent. Look, Im from the actual valley for which valley girls are named. I know actual valley girls, my sisters are valley girls and have the accent. I once told one of them that shes a valley girl and she was like so are you. I dont know, maybe this is just a personal thing, but I think Im valley girled out. And I say that as someone who honestly does use a lot of the Valley vernacular and speech patterns in his life, so I guess Im just a huge hypocrite.

Special commendations to the Zoologist for having probably the highest proportion of porn images on a google image search relative to the obscurity of the waifu googled. I guess all it takes is being a female werewolf.

Even at their best, Dragon Ball characters are not very attractive. Android 18 is probably the hottest girl in all of Dragon Ball, and Im being generous by putting her at the high end of average.

I decided to be as fair as possible to her and not take into account how in another timeline, she just destroys the world for no reason. Like, that potential is always within her, to destroy the world for no reason, and that does color her a bit, but okay. I like her biting wit, and I like that shes generally cool and composed except when shes about to be absorbed by a lizard monsters tail penis (and really, who wouldnt freak out a little about that). Android 18 also benefits massively from being one of the few waifus on the list whos an actual wife and in an actual stable relationship, which makes it easy to see exactly what being with her is like. What, shes angry at Krillin because they dont have enough money, and she wants him to join a tournament to make some? How completely unreasonable. I mean, Jesus Christ, Krillin, tournaments are like the one thing you can do with martial arts besides fight monsters and run strip mall dojos.

Despite also being an adventurer-type, Android 18 is in a weird, unique position where she sort of just retires halfway through the series? I watched a bit of Super, and it was eyerolling how all of the boys continue doing stuff while all of the girls just retire from fighting (if they ever fought at all) and just watch them from afar. Like, that baseball episode, surely Android 18 is more useful than half of the men there, but she just sits on a bench and watches her daughter. But the point is, she has basically all of the good qualities of being an adventurer and none of the bad ones, which gives her probably an undeservedly high Girlfriendness score.

All in all, Android 18 is probably the second best waifu in the series, but no one nominated Bulma.

If I knew nothing about My Little Pony, Id have assumed that this was the main character of the spinoff and thats exactly what I assumed, until I actually looked into her. Its the hair, honestly. That hair reeks of like character added later. In fact, I could have easily believed this was someones fan OC. Then it turns out that she became the main character, so I managed to be right and wrong at the same time. By the way, can I just say how odd it is that the MLP Wiki almost always uses her full name? A few times in the (very long) article, it says Sunset, but usually its Sunset Shimmer.

I wish Id included a dedicated section to talk about voices. This character sounds nothing like I imagined. Like, you look at her and imagine some kind of high-pitched girly teenager voice, right? Maybe even slightly valley girl-y. No.She sounds like an adult-ass woman not even trying to sound younger.

Anyway, I enjoy a good evil character turns good arc as much as the next guy, and Im glad we got a few waifus like that. The idea of magical fantasy ponies coming to not!Earth and having stupid high school adventures is fine. It would have been funnier if shed just been a normal-ass bully, though, and the heroes have to struggle with the idea of using magic to defeat someone whos just mean. Ah well. Instead, Sunset is like a magical pony who learns to use sorcery, turns evil, then realizes that friendship is superior and devotes herself to being better. Eh, fine. She honestly seems a little generically nice after her redemption, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. And as for Girlfriendness, shes smart, has cool magic powers, likes video games, and is good at music, whats not to like?

Jesus, League of Legends. I cant believe its still around and still popular. I havent touched it since like 2013? I remember the last hero released before I stopped playing was Jinx. I just looked up the heroes released since I stopped, and almost all of the male ones are buff guys with no shirts. And Karma. Karma? Such an odd choice for an LoL waifu.

Anyway, Karmas shtick is that shes the reincarnation of an ancient blah blah shes Aang from Avatar. Thats would be fine if that was it. The questionable element comes in with how this is accomplished. I had a very difficult time figuring out if youre born as the new not-Dalai Lama or not. It seems like youre not, because its explicitly mentioned that the previous one died when she was 12 and then she started having visions, but if thats the case, then it means all of these thousands of years of Dalai Lamas just take over random little kids bodies whenever their current one dies. The potential morality of that is never explored. Well, I didnt factor any of that into her waifu ranking, so I guess its all pointless for our purposes.

Karmas personality is all about peace didnt work, so Ill kill the people invading my land. Yeah, fine. I mean, youre not going to get an argument from me. If poison techno Nazis invade you from a place called Noxus, you gotta do what you gotta do. Shes very standoffish, though, very high-and-mighty. I think shes supposed to be like awe-inspiring, like shes this quasi-spiritual being beyond mortal comprehension, and shes basically a queen. Heres the thing: the other princess-type characters in this list have basically a sense of modesty about it, however small it may be, whereas Karma super does not. Karma is higher and mightier than you and she knows it. Honestly, I may be overranking her personality even as it is.

And her Girlfriendness, well, shes basically a priestess-queen, but shes also going to be away attacking people in the bottom-lane to settle disputes a lot, so I dont even know how often Ill see her. Even when shes not fighting Noxians (such a lame name for bad guys, by the way), shes probably going to be super busy being the Dalai Lama.

Sorry, Karma. You do have some advantages, but you have almost as many disadvantages. I guess that means they balance themselves out, which might be karma.

Itsukis personality is probably her weakest aspect. Unlike her sisters, who have more-or-less predictable personalities, shes some horribly Frankensteins Monster of tsundere, nave crybaby, and levelheaded. I guess if you have five waifus in the series, at least one of them has to be the tsundere, and that appears to be the element that shines through the most when shes with the generic boy. By the way, I watched some of her on YouTube, and there was a part where she wears her hair down and the generic boy criticizes her for this, saying its already hard enough to tell them apart as it is. Dude, first of all, they all have slightly different shades of red hair despite being identical quintuplets, and second of all, shes 100% in the right to say that she can wear her hair however she wants to, what a dick.

Wanting to be a teacher is fine, by the way. Thats a perfectly fine job for a prospective waifu. Im not thrilled about the believes in fate and charms stuff, but fine, thats harmless. One thing Ill say for her is that she has the least embarrassing quotes in the quote section of her Wiki page. All of the other sisters are just thinking about the boy or how they want things to continue on as they are forever, but shes by far the least obsessed with him and that is to her credit.

Ill be blunt: if you want to be a tsundere waifu, then you either need to do it flawlessly or you need to have some special gimmick to pull it off. Just being a tsundere without one of those things isnt exactly a detriment, but its not quite a strength, either. I know it makes for a lot of cutsey moments where the waifu gets flustered and makes an adorable puffy cheek face or looks embarrassed because she doesnt know how to deal with positive attention, but by itself, its not one of the stronger waifu personality archetypes.

But hey, it does at least make you the second strongest of your sisters.

Danganronpa. Ridiculous story, bizarre plot twists, weird characters, kind of lame gameplay incredibly strong waifu game. There are some misfires like Sayaka and Angie, but by and large, Danganronpa might have the strongest waifu lineup of any series I can think of. Maybe Final Fantasy or Persona, but those still have a lot of weak waifus and ancillary minor characters who weigh down the average.

By the way, just so everyone understands: the ranking system I'm using of three scores averaged out produces some odd results I don't intend. Maki would not be the lowest Danganronpa waifu if I was just directly throwing out 1-100 scores, nor would we have gotten some other bizarre waifu ranking shenanigans. It produces the weirdest results in the middle of the list where we are right now, while the low and high ends of the list are mostly correct in the sense that they'd look the same if I'd just directly assigned the scores.

As far as looks go, Maki is a bit strange. Shes not generically anime cute, and in place of that, shes got a bit of a dark, sullen look to her even when shes supposed to be happy. Its a bit nontraditional? as far as waifu attractiveness goes, but I would say she pulls it off well enough. Like, to be clearer, there are several elements of her design that I normally dont like (like the super long pigtails), but with her muted color scheme, all of it just sort of coalesces into something that works well enough, but isnt crazy good.

I might contradict this later, but for now Ill say that Maki is the waifu on this list whose Girlfriendness was hardest to determine. Her secret job is assassin, and even worse than that, she works for like this weird cult? But shes also genuinely the Ultimate Child Caregiver (or at least good enough to pretend to be one) and talks about how if she stopped being an assassin, thats the job shed have, and thats a perfectly fine waifu job. And like, even as an assassin, she still goes and works at her old orphanage just for fun. So, unlike a lot of waifus, Makis Girlfriendness needs a bit more interpretation, but I think I can still comfortably give her an okay score. Also, she mentions liking dodgeball, which was always the best sport to play in P.E. I havent been in high school in forever and I was still sad when I heard dodgeball was phased out.

Personality-wise, Maki is another stone-cold tsundere, but of the species that goes between flustered and sullen with almost nothing in-between. There arent a lot of moments when she like puts up her finger and wags it at the boy and chides him for something, she mostly just tells Kaito hes a dumbass, which is true, so I cant even fault her for that. She does get flustered a lot, though. Like half of her sprites are either her looking surprised, her tugging on one of her pigtails, or her puffing her cheeks out while trying to stay composed. Poor tsunderes. Whenever theres a cast of multiple girls, the tsunderes job is always to act all dignified and then blush whenever she seems too above it all.

I will say this, though: even though Maki is played up as being one of the smarter characters in the game, her ideas during the trials are usually among the worst, to the point where shes virtually always wrong. That entire cast is dragged to the finish line by Shuichi.

By the way, I got that extra scene where she goes to an anime convention to kill a guy, but accidentally dresses up as a known character and gets flustered in front of the cameras as fat guys rush her, never even realizing it was an optional scene, because the silliness of it all fit perfectly with everything Maki always goes through anyway.

My concern about adventurers wasn't the danger part (most of the time), it was the never being around part and the not having a real job part. That's why space and alternate dimension adventurers were even worse off than normal adventurers. The danger part is only so much of a detriment by itself.

This is one of the most random waifus nominated in the entire list. So many quality AA waifus didnt make the cut, but a one-off red herring suspect from AA3 does?

Desiree is one of our last two high, one low waifus. Unlike most waifus with a low Girlfriendness, though, shes not an adventurer or anything like that. Shes just a normal lady with one bad habit: she shops a lot, and is such a big spender that her husband couldnt support her even with a job, so he has to become a cat burglar. And granted, she doesnt know hes a cat burglar, but if you know what job your husband has, you should probably know the bounds of the means by which you should both live, and Desiree lives well outside those bounds.

She makes up for this with a great personality. Shes so warm and loving and engaging and endlessly cool, its impossible not to like her. She is just really engaging from the word go, and its easy to see why shed be a great waifu if you were a millionaire. And shes a motorcycle enthusiast, which is a weird, neat little hobby. Points for her motorcycle tire earrings, too.

Maybe I should take back what I said about her being a random choice. As far as AA waifus go, shes probably one of the best unimportant ones, now that I think about it.

Yeah, at first I was apprehensive about Desiree because she seemed like a gold digger, but actually she's pretty cool and supportive...it's just that she though Ron was doing much better financially than he let on.

Also Maki is about right. She's a great character but not necessarily a great waifu, I think.

I remember reading the synopsis for this series, realizing it sounded familiar, and then it hitting me that this is the My Little Sister Cant Be This Cute series that people joke about. Is this our only incest waifu? We didnt get as many FE waifus as I expected, so I think this is our only incest waifu.

Ill be honest, Ive seen a few brother-sister incest things in Japanese media, and Im used to it being revealed that theyre really just step-siblings, so I combed through the Wiki to make sure they were really brother and sister. Theres a route in a PSP game that reveals theyre step-siblings, but its apparently non-canon, so Im treating them as real siblings. However, I do enjoy the idea that the very instant she learns shes not really his sister, she just immediately declares shes in love with him and demands they start dating.

Its hard to even discuss Kirino, because shes a fairly standard tsundere with an otaku streak except for the series main selling point. I feel like she was nominated not because shes super interesting and complex and a fantastic waifu, but rather just to see how Id react to the incest angle, so I almost dont even want to discuss her attributes as a waifu in the same way Ive analyzed everyone else up to this point.

Ive never read Oreimo, but I have to imagine that the incest is its main appeal, right? Like, if this was just a manga about a random boring guy meeting a girl at school and them having nerdy hobbies together, no one would care, right? Is this just about the forbidden fruit angle? I guess my question is this: does Oreimo appeal more to people with sisters, or people without sisters?

Sorry, Kirino. You might deserve better than this in a waifu analysis, but this is what youre getting. You shouldnt have been such a cute little sister, I guess.

From what I heard Oreimo appeals more to people without sisters because real sisters never act this way. And I am definitely not one of those people because I haven't actually read or watched it aside from a plot summary after it became (in)famous

Oh, I forgot to say that I was analyzing Kirino under the assumption that I'm not her brother, otherwise her Girlfriendness tanks because it would be impossible to go out with her.

1. The most popular character in the show is another girl, actually. Everyone loves Kuroneko.
2. I have a sister and I think the show is real good (until later on, when it kinda falls apart for certain reasons). You can enjoy that sorta thing without applying it to your own life.

That doesn't surprise me. I would say it's actually pretty frequent that when a story has multiple love interests, the most popular is the non-main one.
