I hate to say this, but the art style of this anime does not do this waifu justice at all. Obviously, anyone is free to disagree, but I just find the style to be very ugly? So, when this waifu shows up and shes supposed to be mind-blowingly beautiful, I can see how shes supposed to be beautiful, but the style, man, the style. And Ill just say it: I dont like French maid outfits very much. No one nominated Kawakami from P5, so Ill say it here: its unreal how much hotter she is in her normal outfit than her French maid outfit. I guess this ties into Girlfriendness as well; normally Im pro-having a job, but when your job is working at a maid caf, like, is that the most demeaning job possible? Probably not, but its not great.

You might be surprised by Yakumos middling scores in Personality and Girlfriendness. Well, to tackle Personality first: I am just straight-up not a fan of the Yamato Nadeshiko archetype. The soft-spoken perfect girl whos caring and dedicated and can be brave and calm when its necessary is great for some, but its not particularly my taste. And Yakumo in particular is also very shy and uses a lot of ums in her speech, has problems connecting with people, and doesnt know at all how to advance a relationship.

But also, shes got mind-reading powers? Anyone who likes her has their thoughts appear over their heads to her, except the main character. I cant even begin to guess how many problems thats going to cause a relationship. Like, trust is important and everything, but just casually knowing everything someone is thinking when they like her is going to be a major issue.

Sorry, Yakumo. No single problem is that big a hurdle on its own, but youve just got a bunch of minor problems that add up.

There are Street Fighter waifus whod place in the top twenty, at least, but Menat is not one of them. Menat? Such a bizarre choice. Is she anyones first thought when they think of Street Fighter? What I mean is, is Menat anyones favorite SF character? Because Ive seen even seen Sean fans, but Ive never seen a Menat fan. By the way, according to the wiki, her early designs included her being a pizza assassin, which I want to know more about.

Anyway, 100% of her low Attractiveness score is due to her haircut. I like everything else about her, including her face and the anachronistic Cleopatra clothing, but a haircut can really make or break a waifu, and Menats got one of the worst in the entire list. Theres another waifu with the same haircut, and you can bet Ill bring it up when I get to her, too.

I like her semi-childishness and energy, her constantly thinking about what Rose would say, and all of that. I have no doubts that shell be very easy to get along with, that shell immediately charm a lot of people I introduce her to, etc.

However, she has two problems. The first is that shes another adventurer waifu. Now, she lives on normal Earth, so thats not a dealbreaker Im sure its still possible to make a relationship work, but its clearly going to involve a lot of work. Worse yet, her real job is as a fortune teller. According to comparably.com, that means shes making around 36000 dollars a year, but realistically, shes spending a lot of her time beating up Shadaloo minions, so shes not actually working during that time, and shes probably paying out of pocket for medical costs after her street fights, so Im imagining her financial situation is going to be extremely grim. Minor irrelevant note: apparently she has the same birthday as my mom, so that might cause some scheduling issues, Im not sure.

If you can get over her haircut (I dont know who thought that was a good idea), Menat seems like an okay waifu.

I just checked my old waifu ranking list and Yakumo placed 37/150. She had almost the exact same Personality score (45), and a very different Attractiveness score (68). However, I changed the Attractiveness scoring system to only use official art and to take the art style into consideration, which hurt her. The main difference was that the third category used to be Wifeness instead of Girlfriendness, which dropped from 87 to 53, but I don't remember my reasoning for it being so high in the original version.

I guess this is where I reveal myself as a massive hypocrite, because although Ive been saying that art style matters and that I hate giant anime eyes, something about this non-characters design does it for me. Dont get me wrong: theres a limit to how high generic anime cuteness will carry you on this list, and 68~ is that limit. DMG wouldnt reach even those lofty heights without her weird helmet-hat, but she has just enough uniqueness in her clothing (if not her face) to carry her.

Personality is a complete wash. I actually watched some clips of the anime because I couldnt remember all of the details of how the card game works, and the most personality I could find was her winking at the camera once. But hey, again, generic anime cuteness is exactly good enough for 50%. You know what? I dont mind girls winking at things.

Girlfriendness is where she takes a dive, though. First of all, shes going to constantly be summoned by teenagers with weirdo haircuts to save the world. The battles only last about 22 minutes each, so its not completely damning by itself, but its definitely going to be an annoyance, and I can imagine her getting called several times per day. Even worse, I checked, and it seems that card characters cant speak in the YGO universe. I mentioned this before, but the ability to communicate seems like a major element of a relationship, so its going to be very difficult to really do much with her as a result.

Finally, am I the only person who sees DMG and instantly thinks Dungeon Masters Guide?

Card Spirits exist in the later series. Dark Magician Girl is very specifically called in one of them (GX I think?) where there's a big festival of people cosplaying as cards. So she just shows up as herself to revel in attention and flirt with people.

I didnt plan on this, but I think I have to do it: Im bumping Dolores score down from what I had when I made the list. I think I overrated her Attractiveness by too much. So, every waifu after Tammy gets +1 to their score. This was my error, sorry.

Dont get me wrong: Dolores is still very attractive, and not in a generic anime cute way or something. She has her own visual identity and distinctiveness. I know **** all about luchadores, do female ones tend to tie their hair like that? To me, it comes across as very unique and good-looking.

But her Personality and Girlfriendness take dives. As before, waifus who are just professional adventurers and nothing else are at a major disadvantage because theyre never going to be around. Dolores in particular travels the world in search of new things to punch, which means that any kind of relationship is just completely doomed unless youre punchable by luchador standards, which I am definitely not. As for her Personality, shes defined by her devout belief and superstitions. Trains are the devils machines. First of all, Im not super into superstitions or the occult, and second, as a loser nerd, its clear that this is not going to work.

Sorry, Dolores. Also, should I have listed Latino as Latina, since both waifus are girls? Eh, doesnt matter.

Dolores is superstitious/religious, which keeps you from picking her on certain actions in the game, but mostly she's just a goofball who has "cockamamie ideas." When she's not doing endless push-ups at your campsite, or bailing on her adventure because "food trumps treasure," that is.

She's a surprisingly good captain for your team, but only if you funnel all your resources into her over your two supporting teammates. That's not to say that she's selfish, but I don't disagree with the personality or girlfriendness ratings, either. In a game of goofy characters, though, I always find myself gravitating toward her.

And the official winner of Waifu Whose Name is the Hardest to Spell and Pronounce award goes to Skah-hock! Also known in Japan as Ska-sa-ha. How is that the best Japanese can do? Shouldn't it be Skah-su-hock-su or something? Ska-sa-ha sounds nothing like her name.

Before I go on, I just want to say how this series isnt using its concept as well as it could. There should at least be a DB Cooper and Amelia Earhart spirit. Scathach is an outright bizarre waifu to get so much attention. I understand why the series might play up Joan of Arc and King Arthur, but a Girl, but the trainer of Cu Cuchulainn? Her Wikipedia article is just three paragraphs long. What a completely random waifu to pluck out of mythology. Might as well pick Megara or something. Is she really this big a deal in the games lore? Because her Wiki article implies shes one of the biggest players involved in everything.

Anyway, Scathach has generic anime cuteness on her side, but most of her art has her wearing a mask that does her absolutely no favors. I was conflicted about whether to count the mask or not, but in the end, I decided any official art of the waifu is fine as long as its not a joke outfit (which affects Scathach specifically, since her best outfit is her bunny girl one). Problem is, even as far as generic anime cuteness goes, shes not that cute. Shes obviously going for Im a really skilled warrior waifu points, but she looks nothing like a warrior outside of holding a spear. This is also applicable to King Wearing a Giant Poofy Dress Arthur, but no one nominated her somehow.

So, my problems with Scathach are basically twofold. One, shes only interested in fighting. Two, see one. Almost everything about her revolves around fighting, and the things that dont arent exactly positives (like Because I am superior, I will rule over masses). The only things that she seems to care about are finding strong warriors and monsters to test herself against, which makes her yet another adventurer waifu. Unlike most adventurer waifus, she even explicitly says shes interested mostly in just strong men, which, hooboy, sure isnt me.

Dont get me wrong: its clear that she still has cute tendencies and a sense of humor, like her claiming to not be the strongest, most beautiful warrior of legend and stuff, but the vast majority of her words and actions imply a super composed warrior waifu whos just going to be impossible to have a relationship with.

Scathach is a demon who commonly appears in Persona and SMT too. <_< Even shows up in FFXIV and is briefly referenced in FFT. Not sure if she's *that* obscure, mythologically speaking.

She probably just ended up with a lot of screentime in FGO because people like her design.

So, I guess what it comes down to with Fran is her sense of medical ethics. On the one hand, shes a doctor, which is basically the gold standard of normal person job. You basically cannot get better than doctor as a job without getting into very specialized jobs or things like princesses; its that good. But Frans big issue is that she basically doesnt understand the consequences of her crazy medical experiments? Or at least she doesnt care because of her philosophy that all life is beautiful. Like, cute girl does Mengele experiments because she cant see that theyre wrong is weird and interesting, but I dont know precisely that it makes for the best of all possible waifus. I dont know, when you get into the realm of I dont understand that I inflict fates worse than death on the people I save, I feel like youre really tanking your Personality score. Like, at no point in a relationship do I want to worry about being hit by a car and my waifu inflicting a fate worse than death upon me in order to save my life.

Im just going to say it: I prefer waifus who both value life and arent oblivious to fates worse than death. I know shes cute and cool, but I guess Fran is probably the waifu who suffers the most for ethical reasons who isnt also a villain.

And while I do like blonde hair, Fran just goes slightly too far with those scars. The one that really kills her is the Glasgow Smile one around her mouth. Those are just a bit too much for me, sorry. Also, no bangs, which I tend to like.

Sorry, Fran. I dont think anyone can really mine Frankenstein of all things for quality waifus, and Ive read that book.

One Piece meets the bare minimum for me to say Im already familiar with it. I havent read the manga, but I have watched part of the anime.

Here we have another classic great waifu hampered by one major flaw. Robins flaw? That shes an adventurer and a pirate. She is going to be on the road (so to speak) 100% of the time. Ive said it before, and Ill say it again probably twenty more times on this list: a waifu who doesnt really have a job and is just an adventurer is going to be a problem to maintain a relationship with. To make matters worse, shes also an archeologist, so even if her pirate adventures ended, shed still be overseas all the time. And then to make matters even even worse, shes also wanted by the world government. This is just going to be nonstop problems. I guess this is more than one flaw, but Im not changing the start of this paragraph.

It should be noted that One Pieces art style is really ugly, but Robin manages the best out of any waifu in it (that Ive seen). Not perfect, and a different style could have been better, but its fiiiine. She even manages to overcome my normal dislike of gigantic foreheads (thank god no one nominated any Code Lyoko waifus).

Personality-wise, yes, shes great. Shes smart, generally respectful, and doesnt act like a crazy person despite her universe being nothing but crazy people. Basically, she manages to behave sort of like an adult, which is a positive.

I was also uncertain of how to factor in her weirdo limb powers, so I ended up just not.

I decided for purposes of this ranking that I would only take into consideration Ram herself, and not the twins Ram and Rem.

Im gonna level with you: the art style for this show does not work for me at all. Its not the worst thing ever, but it does its waifus no favors. Ram and Rem suffer for this. Its possible to pull off hair over one eye, but you need to do it perfectly, and Ram doesnt quite do it for me. Its got to be like a triangle with the point facing down, and Rams just got a rectangle of hair. And I already went into my analysis of French maid uniforms, so I wont repeat myself too much theyre just not for me. Lastly, shes just kind of small? I prefer average-sized or larger waifus, whereas this girl is like 51 and very petite. Basically, this waifu is just hitting all of the wrong buttons for me.

She does have a real job, which is a big benefit, but shes also fanatically devoted to her master, who is himself fanatically devoted to his dead wife, so this is a bit of a mixed bag. But Im assuming that, as a maid, shes going to be at least competent at housekeeping. And being more outgoing and capable of jokes is a small benefit, so she gets some Personality points as well.

Honestly? Seems like a fairly unremarkable waifu, sorry. I can see good twin scenarios with her sister, though.

Will Bayonetta 3 ever come out? Id at least like any information on it at all. When was it even announced, two or three years ago? By the way, Jeannes our first over-30 waifu in the list.

Heres the thing about Jeanne: shes very distinct in every category, but she ends up almost perfectly average anyway. Like, its clear that shes very attractive, but theres just something wrong with her hairstyle and her blue eyeshadow, right? You cant tell me that looks quite right. She seems to be wealthy, since she goes around shopping for super expensive stuff at a whim, but shes a high school teacher? She looks and behaves like an adult, but theres semi-canonical official art of her sleeping in while Bayonetta angrily tries to get her up. Shes aggressive, teasing, and fun, but shes also strict sometimes. Even the weird things, like her battle tactics, are aggressive and crude, but also supposed to be the traditional and careful fighting style she was taught? Its really hard to nail down any single thing Jeanne does very well or very poorly, and as a result, she ends up about as average as you can be.

And yes, also, Jeanne is technically a professional adventurer/angel fighter, but most of her time is spent in the normal world, and she only goes out to do that stuff occasionally, and she can move at superspeed, so the disadvantages are basically nulled. Cant hold anything against her for that.

I dont know, for a waifu who has so many distinctive characteristics and notable abilities and quotes, even Im shocked that Ive given Jeanne such middling scores, but here we are. If were being completely honest, even Bayonetta herself wouldnt have done especially great on this list. Theyre fun characters, but as waifus, theyre clearly a little too boisterous and crazy.

She's the heir to the clan throne, actually! Just looked it up to verify and it's in some in game documents. I was remembering the past cutscenes with her where it's implied her mother is the leader of the clan.
