it's arguable that miami presents just as big a challenge for them specifically. i think the celtics are a little easier for milwaukee.

Miami in particular match up very well against the Bucks. The Bucks defense is stifling in the paint and tries to force teams to take 3s to beat them. Most teams aren't capable of consistently being hot enough from 3 to beat them over a series. Miami have exceptional 3 point shooters.

Also, slightly related. Fultz still has an ugly 3 point shot at times but he is shooting 45% from 3 in the playoffs.

I just turned on Fox Sports Wisconsin, and they're saying Bucks players are in the locker room on the phone with people talking about what actions can be taken, instead of just raising awareness again. I missed the start of the segment who I don't know who they're talking to, but it's interesting stuff.

The Magic are also not accepting a forfeit from the Bucks apparently, and have left the arena from what they said.

Yeah and some things are bigger than racism and police brutality. It doesn't mean you have to cancel everything else. The NBA would lose tons of money when they did literally nothing wrong which makes zero sense (just like the looting, essentially)

This is why you have to keep it out of your business place.

Once you let it in, it will just go further and further.

First of all, that's the same as saying you can't complain if your company decides not to pay you for a month because people in Africa are literally starving to death. Second of all, the point is people want justice but screwing over an innocent party is not justice

They don't have the right to sit out games according to their contracts, actually. And I don't even mind them sitting out the games yesterday or whatever, but cancelling the entire thing makes no sense. There are plenty of ways to protest without causing massive harm to a business that did nothing wrong

no it's not lmao this is a terrible analogy

there's a very fundamental difference between the laboring class and the owning class, which is what NBA owners are

also, no one really becomes a billionaire without stepping on other people's throats and generally exploiting the poor, so i would very extremely hesitant to describe them as being "innocent"

not to mention that starvation in africa and state-sanctioned domestic terrorism are extremely different

this whole analogy makes absolutely no sense

protests historically haven't done much of anything unless harm has been caused to someone. i'm much happier that the harm be done to billionaire owners than small businesses like in the BLM protests. comparing these two is asinine.

if you want to complain that you as a viewer have been hurt, that's selfish, but understandable. but NBA owners do not need you to go to bat for them. these are the dudes trying to get tax money to finance their billion-dollar stadiums, the profits of which are privatized

Leonhart4 posted...

i think the threat of it might be enough. NBA owners are people of extreme wealth and therefore influence. this isn't really a protest to bring awareness for grassroots movement or whatever; it's direct pressure on some of the wealthiest people alive to do something.

(edit) that said, the definition of "effective" isn't clear, and i'll be the first to admit i don't know what effect it will have in the end. the "black lives matter" jerseys were an obvious virtue signal; however, i think that it's possible we get at least a little more tangible action due to this boycott.

The thing is that the union now controls the league because the owners capitulated. The league should have stood strong like they did last time and just fined whoever did what as usual. They now are going to be faced with a potential strike for nothing they did wrong because the players after given an inch have to make a bigger and bigger statement each time something happens. The league will be the one that is at detriment each time. And, ironically, the people who are striving to make careers in basketball which are predominantly young black men from many low economic communities will suffer the consequences of lost revenues that come from it.

There isn't a job in the world that is going to let you walk out or threaten to not work anymore during their most profitable time because you are upset with a political issue. These sports brought it on themselves.
