They don't have the right to sit out games according to their contracts, actually. And I don't even mind them sitting out the games yesterday or whatever, but cancelling the entire thing makes no sense. There are plenty of ways to protest without causing massive harm to a business that did nothing wrong
The thing is that the union now controls the league because the owners capitulated. The league should have stood strong like they did last time and just fined whoever did what as usual. They now are going to be faced with a potential strike for nothing they did wrong because the players after given an inch have to make a bigger and bigger statement each time something happens. The league will be the one that is at detriment each time. And, ironically, the people who are striving to make careers in basketball which are predominantly young black men from many low economic communities will suffer the consequences of lost revenues that come from it.

There isn't a job in the world that is going to let you walk out or threaten to not work anymore during their most profitable time because you are upset with a political issue. These sports brought it on themselves.
