Have to apply first. I think only 19 states or something have applied so far. Not paid is just what it might be saying so far until the application is approved or until applied. It doesn't mean you aren't getting anything eventually

A large majority of states have applied already.

The only state sending money so far is Arizona because Arizona is paying it out of their own pockets and expecting the federal government to reimburse them. It will be a couple more weeks or so for most states that applied.

Supposedly, despite China's cases never moving, there is an outbreak in the Xinjing province (sp). Has been videos and reports of welding people in, arresting them to poles if outside without permission, parents being taken and kids left alone for days upon days without guardians, forcing shots of a Chinese medical shot consisting of home remedies, and etc.

heard a few things but i'm also not really surprised by any negative news out of china. i just don't expect it to leak as easily right now and it slips through the cracks of other media stories.

worth noting is that the province being talked about is where they've got the uyghurs holed up. doubt any of their numbers are included since i doubt they're even considered people over there.

If you go to the CDCs site and look under comorbidities or whatever its called (Im on mobile and it refuses to load), they updated the blurb to say that only 6% of the total deaths (around 11,000) are due to covid alone. Its either a mistake or theyre outright telling everyone that you need a secondary issue to actually die from this thing. Very good news if true.

Comorbidities can include common things such as obesity in America though. The healthy generally don't succumb very often.

While good and it is one of the reasons why the death rate of COVID-19 is low, it's not as simple as whether or not you have a pre-existing condition, secondary infections (especially from opportunistic microbes) are a big risk.

Yeah, in a paper back in April the top four comorbidities were high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, morbid obesity.

In MA we are 98% on underlying conditions. But I mean we just need to look at excessive mortality to really make sense of this, and luckily theres still an easy CDC dashboard for that.

The problem with fauci and such is they are just scientists with an opinion. They only really have past situations to estimate from. Thus, often they are wrong until they are right. It is hard to keep public opinion in your favor because it is so easy to say why would he be right now if he was wrong before.

That Trump might try to force rushed approval for a vaccine should concern everyone. One non-obvious problem that Fauci pointed out (in addition to the obvious concerns about safety and efficacy) is that if any vaccine is distributed it will make it next to impossible to conduct the clinical trials for other, potentially better vaccine candidates.

This. This is the entirety of the problem. Trump doesn't give a fuck about anyone other than Trump and he lies as often as he breathes. I don't trust a single goddamn thing coming from him or anyone in his administration. This thing is going to be railroaded through, side effects or effectiveness be damned. All so he can say, after his complete and disgusting dereliction of duty, that he "cured" the virus; a virus that never fucking existed in his fucked up imagination but still kills 1000 Americans a day.
