I think viral load is accurate as far as severity. I also believe that IS why children aren't a risk due to their normally asymptomatic tendencies. That said, I thought another journal supposedly proved that "wrong". I believe moreso what you linked to though.

Wth this was exactly what I was worried about. My state is only getting three weeks of it when other states get six weeks because we were one of the last? Because they ran out of money so there isnt enough left. This is exactly what I was worried about earlier in the topic.

Says they applied for the additional 3 weeks not that they got denied so we will see

As the MLB Season comes to a close, I remember people who said the season would be cancelled here and seemed to gloat as a few games got cancelled. As we come to the end, I am happy a lot of them got proved wrong and baseball was able to go on.

I'm still not seeing a ton or anything but I'm definitely seeing more than I used to. And of course no one wears a mask when they have the shield.

They should still wear a mask! The shields are probably a better defense against droplets, but definitely worse against aerosols.

Virginia's positivity rate has been dropping lately to the lowest it's been since March, at 5.5%. Virginia has never had especially explosive spread statewide, just in particular localities at different points so it's never been one for large, shocking numbers, nor has it ever fallen off much. The most recent surge came from college towns, like it did across most of the country.

It was pretty much only restraunts and school/kindergarten closing down, everything else works normally

Death rate is super low for some unknown reason but we are getti g dangerously close to the peak daily number of cases that Italy had (iirc 8000) despite having 1/6 the population

The main reason it happens is because Israelis are idiots
They argue about having the right to protest and the right to pray in a synagogue
Try to shut down one and then they all go "whyyyy are we not allowed to protest when it's ok to pray in a synagogue whaaaa"
Fucking bunch of crybabies crying about this bullshit when other people are dying because of them

Well, the death rate being lower than before could because your infection rate was extremely higher than you realized before but you didn't have the testing to catch it then like you do now.

Could be younger people getting it instead of older.

Or them knowing how to better deal with it now.

I'd guess it's a combination of all 3 of these.

Because they didn't catch probably even 5-10% of all the infections back then.

Though it is also possible it mutated into a less deadly strain also I suppose.

We will see in like 3-4 weeks. That's the usual lag time on deaths.

Yeah its mostly a product of deaths being a lag stat and the fact that doctors in more developed countries have gotten significantly better at treating the symptoms and complications that arise from COVID-19 as our understanding of just how COVID can attack the body increases. So even taking lag into account, its likely actual death rate will continue to fall.
