I hadn't thought of it that way before, but now that I do, I think I see your point. Particularly the area theme for 3-5. It's pretty introspective in a way no other song (besides Detention Center themes, I suppose) in the trilogy is. Much more mature

Actually, I have one more positive thing to add to 3-3 - the atmosphere is actually pretty cool in general. The music and locations are all decent, and maybe it's because the first time I ever played the case was a pretty decent time in my life and so they bring back relatively pleasant memories of not only those feelings but literally exactly where I was physically while playing the game. For that I actually kinda want to like the case. But good Lord I just can't stand the writing in this one. Sorry and I'll shut up about it for now.

1. The phoney Phoenix. Furio Tigre looks/talks/acts NOTHING like Phoenix. The fact that anyone, even our beloved scatterbrained Judge, was fooled, already puts this case's absurdity level through the roof and requires suspension of disbelief to an extreme degree even by this series' standards.

I mean, it's stupid, but I was willing to roll with it because what else are you going to do? The pointlessness of the mirror surprised me, though, with Armstrong just admitting it was a lie and nothing happening as a result.

What's the name of the sped up testimony theme? I couldn't find it after three seconds of googling.

Yeah, part of me has always felt that 3-4 should have been included within 3-5 after Phoenix falls, but that would have just made it so incredibly super long.

Also for the record, throughout the series, the various music themes all have the same naming conventions, but with a year tacked on at the end to indicate what game it belongs to.

The cross-examination themes will always be Moderato and Allegro (the Edgeworth games even throw in a Presto for good measure).

yes, the 5th and 6th games as well as layton v wright all have 3D models instead of sprites

Outside of Athena, the 5th game actually has some pretty bad models and animations. Then for the 6th game, it's like they suddenly flipped some kind of switch, because basically all the models and animations in that game are incredible.

I've never noticed to be honest

I think Phoenix looks a little crisper in AA6, but other than that, I don't consider it a massive upgrade over 5.

AA6's animations are way more fluid, even the less intricate ones. I don't want to flood the topic with pictures of characters Anagram's never seen before, but just go watch some of Starbuck's animations, then go look at Bonny's.

The ones I had in mind in particular are Starbuck's where he's pumping his fist in the air, compared to Bonny's where she's just standing there happy, bouncing up and down slightly. Starbuck's is really jerky, whereas Bonny's look super fluid, which is a nice microcosm of how a lot of both game's animations look to me.

Not to say AA1 and 2 have bad soundtracks, but AA3's just feels different from those.

This is by far my least favorite Athena animation! I really dislike both her and Apollo's derpy looking faces.

Episode 4: Turnabout Beginnings
- Phoenix researches Mias first case. A death row inmate who escapes and murders a cop, huh? Im gonna be honest, that sounds twentieth case-worthy. Maybe thirtieth. Definitely not first.
- Oh jeez, were playing as Mia again? Interesting. So this takes place in 2012, then? I bet Mias up to some good doge memes.
- I like how this guy already has a noose around his neck.
- Oh hey, its Godot without the mask. His names Diego, eh?
- Oh god its the other judge, I thought he was just there for the Atmey case because they needed two judges. Were doing this without Judge? Im honestly flabbergasted.
- I appreciate that they redrew Mia and Edgeworth to be younger. They could have easily gotten away with reusing their old sprites. I dont know why his hair is darker, he shouldnt have started graying at all in that time period, but nevertheless, I appreciate it. Speaking of which, heres Edgeworths description: Dubbed a genius as soon as he started as a prosecutor. Today is his court debut. So he was dubbed a genius today?
- So is this whole thing just an elaborate way to include Edgeworth in the game without interrupting the Godot stuff? Because if so, I accept that.
- The judge calls us lawyers. Doesnt he know that prosecutors are the opposite of lawyers? Tsk tsk.
- Wait, so the cop was 23 when she died, and she arrested the guy 5 years ago, so she was a cop at 18? Well, okay. In this world.
- I see they didnt redraw Gumshoe to look younger, but they did use a paint bucket tool on his coat.
- The defendant, the witness Everyones a newbie here! No, the witness is the only person here with experience.
- I like how Edgeworth smiles and wags his finger exactly like von Karma, but not like his older self.
- I like Mia being all uncertain and inexperienced compared to how we know her later on.
- I like how everyone has to establish her femaleness and college studentness.
- I cant be outwitted by this novice bimbo! Jesus, Edgeworth. Thats a line that sure wont fly in 2020. I also like how his surprised face is less shadowy than modern Edgeworths.
- Diego: Its not just true, its the truth! I already made a people die when they are killed joke, Im running out of ironic anime references!
- I predict the female college student witness is Lotta Hart.
- Goddammit.
- Dahlia says her name is Melissa Foster, eh? Ehhhhhh? I dont remember Mia recognizing her in 3-1, but I dont know for sure
- Is this judge even wackier than the main judge? It feels that way.
- I like how Edgeworth keeps insulting Mia and how she has to go up against Dahlia twisting the judge. Its a good dynamic.
- I like Mia, but she has an awful take that! voice clip. Its much weaker than Phoenixs.
- So far, so good. Ill talk more about the impressions I get of this prequel part when I finish the case, but this is engaging and interesting so far, which is impressive because it has like no setup. A normal case has half an hour of investigation, and investigations are way worse than court parts. The investigations are the weakest part of the game, honestly.

Mia distinctly says they've met once before in 3-1, but that's all she says. The hostility between them in 3-1 definitely implies a prior meeting, too.

Yeah, I couldnt remember, too bad.

One thing I forgot to mention was how it was strange that this is the fourth case in the game but is still presented like and is as easy as a tutorial. In fact, Id say its been easier than the tutorial so far.

I assume Edgeworth will get the defendant convicted on bogus evidence, frustrating Mia into quitting law for a year, since Edgeworths record has to be perfect until he meets Phoenix.

They wanted to change up his sprite a bit, but they ran into memory limitations, so all they could do was give him a new coat.
