I can appreciate the freedom you get, but especially if you play it nowadays, it's kinda jarring how it's just like "deal with it". Lets you practice battling as much or as little as you want and allows you to learn about things like Tech points and Revenge Value in a controlled, no-stakes environment. Gives you the option of taking on some marginally harder challenges that require more skill but not perfect execution, with rewards that are useful enough that it feels worthwhile but not so glorious that they're gamebreaking for those that get them or punishing to those that don't. Encourages exploration early on by hiding the Protect Chain in that little nook for clever enough to figure out how to get it. Again, nice to have, but not super powerful. Sets up the central friendship between Sora and his buddies, and it feels natural and believable even in its limited time. It's frustrating - I hit a wall so quickly where I was like "just get to Sora already for crying out loud." And then in all subsequent playthroughs when you do know what's going on, those problems still remain, because the rest of the game is so fun that the prologue ends up feeling like even more of a chore than before. I legit never realized there were people that loved it so much. For first actual level, Tanker and Virtuous Mission from MGS2 and MGS3 are both REALLY strong, but I'll say Dinner of Flames from Rondo of Blood. For first actual level, Tanker and Virtuous Mission from MGS2 and MGS3 are both REALLY strong, but I'll say Dinner of Flames from Rondo of Blood.
