It's more that it's like, the most nothing of the arcs so far (barring the mini Killua family one). Like obviously introduces Nen and whatever but still. Hisoka raises any arc though.

I actually like the family one quite a bit! Just didn't seem fair to rank with rest of the actual arcs.

Nen being introduced in general is good, but the actual nen training is just a jarring piece of boredom that I could have done without.

Although I have to say with Greed Island I wasn't the BIGGEST fan of the Bomber antagonist (and his buddies), he seemed kind of plain in a lot of ways to me and most of the time I feel like the series did "tell more than show" of how POWERFUL he was and how Gon and the rest were just never at HIS POWER. Until the very end at least, he did really start to back it up in the fight with Gon.

Bomber isn't an exciting character, but I love the setting of Greed Island. Everything that happens there is a ton of fun, just because it's happening there. It was my favorite arc in the original HxH (which ends with Greed Island).

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of Bomber either. HxH has a lot of really good antagonists, and then there's this guy who feels like such a generic bad guy.

I enjoyed Greed Island overall, though. Biscuit is the best HxH character imho. I also enjoyed Heaven's Arena lot, too. There hasn't been a bad arc so far!

Anyway I also finished the Nadeko Medusa arc in Monogatari Second Season. It was my least favorite arc in the season so far, but it wasn't bad like stuff in Nisemonogatari was. I just felt like it didn't quite come together thematically like most other arcs have. Part of me wonders if I didn't examine it deeply enough or if I missed a few things (I watched this late over two days and I haven't been feeling great). Ah well, this seems like Part One of a larger arc so maybe it'll come together in the end. It also didn't help that Nadeko was the narrator and a whole lot of this arc was her being crazy and unintentionally tricking herself.

I don't know what the deal is with Ougi, she just kind of came out of nowhere this season and now she (accidentally?) gave all the right information to create a powerful snake god. I still don't feel too attached to Nadeko, her woes and character just aren't very interesting to me compared to Hanekawa or Shinobu. The best part of this arc was when Tsukihi talked to her about her childish crush and broke everything down. Losing her bangs seemed like good set-up for her to come out of her shell and move on from Araragi, so it felt odd to instead see her blow up and slide further into insanity with the snake god. Like, Tsukihi's conclusion was that Nadeko was holding onto the crush because it made life easy, and that seemed legit. I don't think she'd turn into a snake god after seeing Araragi dating someone if it was that shallow kind of crush, though, so now I'm wondering if Tsukihi was wrong or if I'm dumb or if there's still more to this.

Also, just a heads up, I'll be busy with other things for the next while so instead of a huge binge every night I might only watch as much anime as normal people usually do, and a lot of that will go to stuff that's airing. Monogatari is luckily broken into short arcs so I hope I'll still have stuff to say on a regular basis, but it won't be daily like it sometimes is for me!

Fall Anime Write-ups Day 9

Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood - looks like a cute SoL show and those are usually good enough.

CONCEPTION - I actually tried to play the demo of one of these games and it wasnt really good enough to make me want me to buy it. Probably the only way they could get people to buy this is making the actual conception scenes super ecchi and stuff.

Hinomaru-Zumou - Ive never really been interested in sumo wrestling because who wants to watch a bunch of fat dudes slap and throw each other, but hey Haikyuu managed to make volleyball fun to watch so maybe this Jump sumo series will be good.

Tomorrow - The Space Between the Sky & Sea, As Miss Beelzebub Likes and Skeleton Dude Honda-san

Nadeko Medusa is one of my favorite arcs. I loved basically everything about it. She didn't turn into the nake god because she saw Araragi dating someone, she just wanted to do it because she thought it would be fun. I didn't like Nadeko much at all before her arc, but I thought she was pretty awesome during it! Also Ougi will get more development over time.

Nadeko Medusa at one point though the snake said that the moment she saw Araragi walking with his girlfriend was the end of Nadeko, like she was locked on the snake god path from that point on. I figured that meant Araragi was indeed the catalyst. I guess who knows if the snake was right or even being honest though.

Hmm, maybe in the sense that it was the end of her delusions. Like her fake personality couldn't survive after that, and she returned to being her true self.

Also, you did realize that the Snake wasn't really a thing, right? It was just Nadeko talking to herself.

I'm not sure why this distinction actually matters.

But yeah I agree with Mac that the snake meant it was the end of her delusions, the end of the Nadeko she was presenting to the world, but not necessarily the end of the internal Nadeko.

Hey I've really liked the Shinobu and Hachikuji arcs too! I also liked Senjougahara's one arc. Kanbaru is alright, and so was this second Nadeko arc despite it not resonating as much. Really only the sister arcs have been misses so far.

All Monogatari seasons have their own standout episodes, but as a collection of arcs, I always did think Monogatari Second Season was the best the series has had to offer up to this point.

Fall Anime Write-ups Day 10

The Space Between the Sky & Sea - Waifus fishing in space holy shit this could be amazing. Like literally the plot is all fish in the ocean are gone (aside from whales) so they try to create like a giant aquarium in space and then hire people to go into space and fish. What an interesting concept. Calling it now this is gonna be a surprise hit of the season.

As Miss Beelzebub Likes - Dude gets his dream job working for the demon king, but it turns out shes a woman instead what a twist. Probably gonna be a fantasy comedy focused on that. I dunno if Im interested, but if people say its good Ill check it out.

Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san - comedy series about a skeleton who works in a bookstore. The creators name appears to be Honda as well so I wonder if he used to work in a bookstore before becoming a manga artist. The display art has all kinds of goofy looking characters that basically all look like humans wearing assorted masks (bunny head, pumpkin, fox, etc). It honestly looks like it could be a short series despite not being listed with them. The art looks very cutout-like in the trailer too so its probably better off being a short low budget type series >__>

Huh, I didnt know that. Its pretty unusual for a series to get an anime so quickly so Im assuming they did plan the anime first. At least I hope thats the case

The space fishing one says the source is a game on MAL so maybe the manga is also based on the game?

It being based off a game also makes me wary that it'll be any good, but I haven't exactly seen many game anime adaptations so I probably shouldn't pre-judge.
