Not sure if this is the right topic for this but it is kind of anime related. I felt like playing a rhythm game and I missed Kasumi so I'm trying out the BanG Dream mobile game. I have no idea what any of the rewards do or why experience matters yet, but it's pretty good so far! Maybe someday I'll master the dual-notes and score above a C-rank. Even on easy, any song rated above 7 has ruined me.

This is my first foray into anything gacha-related, too, not that I even know what there is to unlock yet. While I have no plans to spend any money, I also have notoriously poor willpower so there's still a good chance I'll be homeless this time next month...

Koala and I can help you when you need it. On the Board 8 Discord server we also have a dedicated channel for mobile rhythm games that was mainly meant for Love Live and still is, but like the very nature of Board 8, we're not strict on topicality.

The main thing about the game is that it's always better to be playing on multiplayer unless there's a song you really want to play yourself. Don't worry about if you're playing on easy, you'll get better over time.

Won't get too much into the schematics of team building but basically you want to prioritize the featured attribute and then featured character. Just know that the featured characters won't always all be from the same band like the current event going on. Speaking of events, all of the past event stories are retained so you can read them at anytime. The first event story is pretty good for Poppin'Party.

You unlock main story chapters by ranking up and band stories by leveling up your bands.

The gacha is pretty terrible despite the ok rates (though my awful luck would say otherwise), so don't spend if you don't have the means to. You can get far without spending anything.

also the area items are important. I'd prioritize one band's area items so you can get your main band power high enough to play in the Master Rooms, as you'll get the highest multiplayer score that way which gets you more stuff for events

that means you have to use mostly that one band as well though

Speaking of being bad at Discord, one last thing. I see a mobile-games channel but nothing about it being for rhythm games. Not seeing a Love Live channel that voltch mentioned either. I feel like I'm just being dumb and missing something obvious.

I hope no one is getting tired of my long Monogatari posts because I've decided it made more sense to do one after each arc in Monogatari Second Season rather than all at once later. I finished the Tsubasa Tiger arc and I thought it was amazing. Hanekawa is a really fascinating character!

I appreciated how Araragi wasn't around for most of the arc, because Hanekawa really did need to come to terms with herself (and with people other than Araragi, but mostly herself) on her own. He only showed up at the end when it was finally time for her to confront the aspect directly related to him, so it didn't even feel like a deus ex machina rescue of the damsel in distress or anything. It was fitting.

Anyway, the arc built slow, carefully reexamining Hanekawa's character as set-up for the conclusion. The only part I didn't love was one part of a conversation with Senjougahara, right after she realized Hanekawa loved every flavor. That was nice subtle writing, but then they came right out and started outlining what it meant about her. That felt unnecessary, but only because the rest of the writing communicated the core of her character so masterfully that directly spelling it out wasn't really needed.

Speaking of Senjougahara, she was awesome in this arc. There was still the harsh side of her that I'm not a huge fan of, but it was considerably muted compared to how she is with Araragi, and her and Hanekawa were surprisingly fun to watch as friends. The way she legitimately panicked after finding Hanekawa sleeping in the school ruins was a side of her I hadn't seen before, too, and I really liked it. The best use of those flashing text windows happened there, when Senjougahara's weak slaps earned a 'those didn't hurt' text window, and then she pointed out how much Hanekawa had worried her, which earned a 'that hurt a lot' window. Really, I could go on and on, the whole arc was filled with little things I really liked and it ended with Hanekawa earning a place in her own life. I enjoyed it a lot.

Also, one of the low-key greatest parts of the arc was Shinobu using the Terminator movies in an a surprisingly apt analogy. Another great part was Hanekawa breaking the fourth wall and realizing something was wrong because of all the chapters the story skipped while she was sleeping.

I watched Summary One too but I started skipping through it halfway since it seemed like just a Nekomonogatari summary without anything of note added. I can sort of see this being helpful to someone who missed Neko or who hadn't seen it in years or something and needed a refresher, but even in that case, why put the video after this arc where all those events are relevant? That makes it feel extra pointless.

Tsubasa Tiger probably my favorite Monogatari arc. Not sure that's a common opinion around these parts at least, but yeah. I really love the scene with the letter to Black Hanekawa.

Doing writeups after every arc is great! There's definitely an overall story arc in Monogatari SS (related to a character you didn't seem to mention~), but the arcs also stand on their own quite well, and it makes more sense to talk about them separately I think.

I'm not sure if you caught it, but I think perspective is supposed to affect things to some extent here. Araragi seems like a totally awesome cool guy hero because that's how Hanekawa sees him.

Also, the Cat evolves over the course of her appearances. Probably some sort of Freudian thing? In Neko Black, the Cat is just Hanekawa herself, but with her inhibitions lowered. In Tsubasa Cat, it's Hanekawa's unconscious desires. In Neko White, it's almost an independent entity, though still formed out of Hanekawa's feelings. Thought it was kinda cool how they had it change like that.

Recap episodes typically don't exist for the viewer's sake. They exist to fill time slots when there's nothing else to put there. It's rarely a good idea to watch them.

Radiant - MC wants to be a magician and some witches want to go to a land in the sky that spawns monsters. Doesnt say if its an original or based on anything since it says Other, but Lerche has come a long way so it might be worth a shot. Two of the characters have pretty bad hair though.

Jeanne dArc - I like the art and I feel like it has potential to be something fun to watch. Hopefully it wont be a Blu-ray only experience show.

Golden Kamuy 2 - I saw ep1 of the first season and it was good. People said the adaptation sucked though so I dunno...

Archery Boys - man am I glad KyoAni switched over to making shows about all guys said probably none of their fanbase. The description is really boring, but you know the show will look great at least because of KyoAni production values.

This is true. I'm still glad I half-watched the first one because I could definitely see Monogatari slipping important story into the narration of one of these episodes, but now that I know it doesn't I'll skip the other ones.

Anyway, I finished another Monogatari Second Season arc, Mayoi Jiangshi. It didn't surpass the last two Hanekawa arcs (though, to be fair, those were so great I'm not sure anything can surpass them) but it was still highly enjoyable! Second Season has been way better than the other parts of Monogatari so far, I hope it keeps this up.

I always like time travel plots, so having one happen in Monogatari was a nice surprise. It also wound up being mixed with zombies and a post-apocalypse, which are also awesome things. The parts dedicated to Hachikuji were nice, especially seeing her as a resourceful adult in the timeline where she didn't die. The only problem there was how Araragi, while on a mission to rescue a little girl from a traffic accident in the past, decided to flip her skirt and freak her out so badly that she ran into traffic. I get that this stuff is meant to be a joke but they just don't work for me, and this one especially didn't work given the seriousness of the situation.

Ah well, the real focus of the arc was his relationship with Shinobu. Since she's my favorite character after Hanekawa, those parts of the arc were all great! I like time travel plots because they make it possible to examine characters under different circumstances, revealing what parts of them were shaped by random events and what parts are core to their being. In a timeline where slight alterations resulted in her not being there to save Araragi, she reacts badly enough to destroy the world. For me, that helped show that Shinobu cares deeply about Araragi in every timeline. Now I have an even greater appreciation for the partnership they were lucky enough to form in the main route.

It was also neat to learn that Araragi still got with Senjougahara in the alternate timeline. I had actually wondered about that since the situation with Hachikuji was what initially sparked that for them. I guess they really are meant to be together, too.

Ingress - what a vague description. So basically theres some magical energy that may or may not influence minds and one side wants to use the power and the other doesnt. My first though seeing the poster is that one dude looks like an American special agent or something so hes probably the bad guy

Tomorrow - Phoenix Wright S2 (was gonna be today, but for whatever reason anichart reorganized and it was lower down the list oops), DOUBLE DECKER and Lolicon Maid
