What exactly are the best healing USBs?

I have Relm and Eiko which I have to assume are up there.

those two and Aphmau and Rosa are the 4 best right now

Aeris's USB2 which comes out later is pretty much the best though

Healing banner is easy skip. That's the one thing I feel pretty okay about. There are a few I wouldn't mind getting, but no real need for any.

It is her Burst..

Relm's and Aphmau are the top 2. I don't have either of them so I use Selphie, which I think is better than Eiko's for most fights (basically any fight where the boss doesn't use slow).

Why are Relm, Aphmau, Selphie and Rosa so good?

Selphie's is underrated but it's because she lack Eiko's trance and summon, it does help a lot against bosses who poison and sap (if you remember that King Tonberry multiplayer for example.)

Rosa's can also wrath making her not rely on a entruster as much as Relm, Eiko and Aphmau.

Rosa - Magic Blink is awesome. And she can Wrath
Relm - Instant Cast makes her contribute enough to DPS that you can bring her for magicites and keep a decent time
Aphmau - See Relm
Selphie - Frankly disagree with this one being on a separate tier from a lot of the other ones. Last Stand is nice but a lot of healing breaks give that.

Holy shit, powercreep is no joke. Before Thanksgiving, I had 0 water relics. I just beat Marilis (Maliris? Marilith? the fire one) for the first time in 24 seconds.

Also re: Rafa BSB, it's a really good utility BSB on a good utility character, but it's weak in the speed meta. It's a stacking faithga with a healing command, but her DPS (especially without en-lightning) is too low for her to contribute in any high level fight without a lightning weakness.

I know Rapha's BSB is good, I used to use it as a RW all the time in my mage team. I had Relm use it, Mog's BSB for haste and Cid Raines, the three faithgas stacked and I capped the magic stat pretty quick. Unfortunately that doesn't cut the mustard in this magicite era anymore since everyone need chains, chases or double casts these days.

I'm kinda down on Cloud TBH - he basically needs 2 bars to be good, so you're spamming lifesiphon for half the fight. And doublecasting lifesiphon isn't very useful. Then once you cast his SBs you're still stuck with a kind of weak ability (his BSB command) which his USB makes good. He would be so much better if he had a 5* wind ability (which his USB would make amazing).

The nice thing about Bartz is he could just spam Snowspell Strike and help me quickly build a chain in two different fights (Tiamat and Midgardsormr).

I did already dive Squall. He's just spamming SSS from turn 1 so his doublecast goes really well with his LMR.

I finally beat Tiamat, almost sub30'd at 30.74, I think I need 4* ice magicite to sub30 this jerk but I can't sub30 Isegbind yet, I'm really considering picking Terra's OSB in hopes that would push me over.

Oh yeah I also picked Lulu's burst for the ice boost. Did it for Ysayle.

I did the LM pull

1/11 Galuf SSB. Luck in this fest continues.

I'm holding off on picking the Lightning one until I'm absolutely sure I don't want to get a burst-- but I don't think I want to get a burst. The stuff I'm interested in is mostly for gear more than the break.

So basically here's my thinking (sorry for rambling here). Basically I want to sub 30 Mirgardsormr where I'm currently around 36s, and I want to beat (and hopefully sub-30) Tiamat, where I'm still getting wiped before the 30s mark. There are two questions which are interdependent - who to dive and which gift relics to choose.

If I take the XI stuff, I could use Ayame's BSB/OSB and possibly dive her for a lot more ice damage. She'd basically only be useful for ice though, and she's not really a top tier character so I'm not sure how useful she'll be in the future.

If I dive Cloud, it might help me get sub-30 on Midgardsormr - I'm not totally sure. (If I can beat Tiamat it would also help since I'll have better magicites). I guess his dive is also useful for non elemental since he can doublecast cap-breaking Omega Drives.

Bartz has a better dive than Cloud (because he can double cast spellblades all fight and covers more elements), and he helps with both Magicites. If I use him I wouldn't need to take the XI relics and I would be free to take either the V stuff (Bartz stat boost and a way to put his bar to use with the OSB), or the III stuff for the +wind spear (which Bartz can use), or something else like Papalymo's OSB. Bartz is also a great character so there's a good chance I may try to draw his stuff in the future. (Cloud is pretty future proof too though since he always gets great new SBs).

Two bursts I'm considering are Lulu's (for Ice Boost Armor-- for Lulu herself. I guess I might use the burst once in a great while) and Gogo FFV's Rod (for water boosting Rod)

Feel like neither one of these are really worth 3000 gems, though. Are there any obviously great bursts I'm missing here?

Go for Lulu's Burst, water magic really sucks at the moment (I'm not even sure how they expect people to beat the physical immune Fire 5* magicite even in Japan water magic still sucks) and you have Rinoa/Lulu's USBs. Good bursts in general is Squall's BSB2 and Cid Raines' BSB, but the majority of BSBs now aren't really magicite/fest boss viable.

Really depends what you need help with. Squall's BSB2 is good for ice. Raines's is still pretty good. Papalymo's BSB basically carried me past Isgebind (with help from Edge and his SSB) and it's also a +fire rod which is nice.

I have an MVP Rydia who'd be using the water boost rod. She does pretty good damage with multicast Opogogogo and eventually she gets a better USB with a water chase.

Squall I'd considered but already have Ayame who is a almost as good and already is dived and having her burst.

Definitely thinking the Lulu burst is probably better though. Actually using it as something other than an element boost once in a while is nice too.

Alternatively that Vayne Darkness boost 6* Sword is kinda tempting too...

But are you going to take Rydia against the likes of Marilis and Diamond Weapon? Those guys have a million HP and you can only use Ogopogo 6 times and it only hits 3 times, even with double casts it'll run out before you can kill them. You'll probably have to sacrifice a faitaga for a battery or chain anyway where she won't reach the magic cap for 3 hits

She has a lot of ethers in her soul breaks. Her new Ultra Smart Ether 2s when she ends it, and her burst has Smart Ether 1 on one of the commands which is pretty cool with her dual casts.

I've never come close to running out of casts before. I could always make another Opogogogo too if it becomes one. 3 hit cap is a bit rough now since you need 3 boosts
but they do eventually drop it to 900 for the third hit which should be attainable with only 2. Rydia can generate one herself so yeah it's not a big deal.

The majority of Burst commands are pitifully weak against *4 magicite, and the time you spend replenishing summons is time that Marilis will do more savage Firgras and landing more imperils on your party.

I gotta say if your goal was to reverse psychology me into drawing for Gogo's rod you're doing a good job. I know what her DPS is compared to other accepted water element heavy hitters like Tidus and Yuffie and I think you're grossly underestimating her potential quite frankly, as well as overestimating how much the lower amount of charges actually matters.

Doing a 9x multiplier magic attack two or three times in a fight to recharge a little towards the end, if it's even needed, isn't going to completely tank your dps. I realize 4* magicites have over double the durability of 3* ones but yeah if she's doing about the same amount of damage as Tidus and Yuffie now stands to reason she will then too. Definitely dwarfs the output of any other of my water attackers.

It's apparently the only water magic weapon in the game right now-- when's someone gonna get a 6* one dammit.

I got her BSB2 and she doesn't come close to Tidus or Bartz in terms of water DPS, those guys can sub30 Marilis, I wouldn't even pick her in team to even just beat Marilis on expert. You're being way too overconfident about 4* magicite when you haven't even unlocked them yet, they're not just more durable they're faster and have more brutal gimmicks than the 3* magicite. Lots of people, including me were confident taking them on with teams that could sub30 the *3 got wrecked by them.

Have you beaten 5-phase Ozma and Deluge CoD? Those guys are 4* Magicite level, and if you did, did you bring Rydia? Probably not.

And as you pointed out barely anyone has water magic relics, only Rydia, Strago and Gogo V (and Meia but Global is probably never gonna get her this point) and Gogo V hasn't had a new relic since he debuted like a year ago. A water boost rod is only going to benefit 3 characters in the game while the ice boost armor would benefit several. And even when Dena will inevitably buff water magic for the physical immune fire magicite most likely they'll have better water boosting relics, but that's going to be around a year from now anyway. By that point old torments will be gone and the orb/crystal rewards for sub 30 magicite will be gone as well.

I mean I have all of her relics and you only have her BSB. You're not considering the quickcast LMR or her Ultra's En-Water buff. I'd assume you don't have her fully dived either considering all the shade you're throwing at her, meaning you don't have her dualcast summon either. If anything you're the one being presumptive here. I have Tidus's Ultra, and he's also fully dived, and she's pretty comparable to Tidus's Water DPS if you've got all her toys vs his Ultra. For current content-- not sure why that should be expected to change for 4* Magicite. Man there's so much wrong with your post... You're just looking at raw unsupported damage and not what other many advantages he has over Rydia.

Tidus has-

-Access to Lifesiphon/powerchain
-+30 speed stat higher than Rydia, adds another +20 when Legend Dived
-6 hit-Chase USB, instant cast BSB2 that gives another instant cast
-Infusion water LM
-Access to 6* water boosting sword and Blitzball
-Is physical so he only needs shout, and USB/BSB2 help him reach the physical cap also benefits from crit boosts, which Rydia doesn't.
-Better water DPS partners with Bartz, Yuffie and Edge, Rydia has one of the least popular FFVI characters, a clown Dena abandoned and a Mobius character that may never even show up in global.

And most importantly- A FUCKING CHAIN.

The only advantage Rydia really has a water DPS is her party faithaga from the Ultra and that her burst commands are summon so they don't get countered by Liquid Flame, but physical water teams are easily sub20ing him so that's not saying much. Tidus already has a dualcast water so Rydia doesn't have an advantage there, especially when it's dualcast summon so she's stuck using burst commands or Ogopogo, and not the shiny new *6 black magic skill coming out Vortex and the inevitable 5-hit Chain Water. And Tidus has a quick cast BSB2 command as well, and the quickcast legend materia is moot when Tidus is constantly batteryed by Shelke and chucking out instant BSB2s. And what would Rydia do with that meter? Slow low multiplyer overstrikes? Tidus is doing instant 10x 9999 with his BSB2 entry under a chain on Marilis.

I'm taking this that you have not even fought 5-phase Ozma or Deluge Cloud of Darkness and actually have no experience fighting 4* magicite level bosses. My experience got me sub30'd Marilis and a bunch of Fire Crystals.



And that was before I got level 80+ 4* magicite and a water boosting sword for Bartz, I'm averaging sub25 these days.

I'm really not sure why you're using theoretical maximums and such when I've told you what I have with my Tidus vs what I have with my Rydia. Like you have your head so far up your ass with the theorycraft and dick measuring what you've cleared that you're not absorbing what actually matters-- what I have for both, what team comps I end up using, what clear speeds I'm getting for current content and the contributions of the DPS units I have for them.

Like obviously if you give Tidus a dedicated entrust bot he's going to outdamage Rydia. Duh? I don't use one.

All I'm arguing is that Tidus + dedicated Entrust battery + what I have for him vs Tidus + Rydia without wasting a slot on a dedicated Entrust battery, Tidus + Rydia win out, which is what's relevant to my situation and what's worth investing in. And also that Rydia can do pretty relevant damage if you have all her stuff. Keep in mind also that if you get her USB2 later that she gets a pretty good chase of her own so her theoretical damage will go up substantially later.
