FYI Boundless Ozma and Cloud of Darkness lol at 3*magicte. Cloud of Darkness is a diffrent kind of fight from magicite anyway, except Ixion (and she has 70% break resist over Ixion's 60%) She's more comparable to the Sephiroth that had the One Winged Angel accessory, except faster and more magic based.

Also I'm not sure why this discussion became investing in Rydia vs investing in Tidus anyway when it should be investing in Lulu or Rinoa vs investing in Rydia. I'm already doing what I can for Tidus and am using him either way. I've had bad luck getting his stuff. Nothing for it.

My thought on that basically comes down to I'm much closer to having a viable Water team vs an Ice one, and can already sub 30 Fenrir so yeah, I'd be trying 4* Water well before 4* Ice. Eventually I'll probably get both, with the next one coming from the set of freebies we get with that library update or whatever.

That's because 'mI warning you that water mages suck in general, Rydia's decent, but not *4 magicite viable, and the other 3 have their own problems so having a water boosting rod isn't a good choice in the long run. Then you started really overrating Rydia despite that everyone who fights 4* magicite level bosses knows she's not even close to Tidus/Yuffie/Edge/Bartz.

You'll need the ice boost for Tiamat if you ever plan on fighting him, he's the hardest of the 4* magicite, and it's easier to sub30 him that let him continue his junctions and jet fire spam, it's not even about the crystals it's more of a DPS race of survival. I just beat her for the first time last night so I know from experience. Fenrir is a cute puppy compared to Tiamat.

I said compared to the relics I have on my Tidus and Yuffie she is close, which I mean, she is-- you can't say she's not when I can literally see the damage numbers each of em is putting out. FWIW i have a decked out Tidus and Yuffie USB+AOSB, both with 2 water boosts and can barely sub-30 Marilith. i honestly don't think you're going to be able to beat her with Rydia in your party whether you have that water boost rod or not. now i don't know what better choice you'd have but i have a strong feeling something else is going to be a better choice.

That's because Tidus and Yuffie are more viable characters in harder content and Rydia isn't until she gets her USB2, and even then that's iffy because you have to use a mixed or mage team and that's a lot of trouble for a character that has a lower chase hit count than Tidus and Yuffie anyway.

I know I have a lot of work to do and that I'll be lucky to even beat Marilith right now-- I'm just saying I think once she gets her next USB she is probably very usable for 4* magicite if I draw it, and I have my doubts she's straight up unusable even with just what I have for her. Rydia isn't some garbage tier character or anything, and it's not like forfeiting the water burst on this allows me to get Tidus chain in exchange.

Rydia isn't garbage tier, but she hasn't adapted to the *4 magicite power creep yet (and even then it's mostly Dena's neglect of water magic because there's only 3 worthwhile water mages, and one of them is still Japan exclusive) Even with her USB2 she lacks the meter building, teammates and being limited to summon boosts on her dive/LM really hurts her in the long run, because summon's low hit count and max hones aren't gonna cut it against million+ HP bosses. The meta is just shifting and unfortunately some classes like Summons and breaks are being screwed over by Dena's direction.

Seriously, I'm working on Tiamat and my biggest problem is just staying alive. I'd be on track to kill her in somewhere under 40 seconds but she starts killing my characters off before I get to 30.

I will say Fenrir has more annoying gimmicks than Tiamat, but Tiamat just straight up kicks your ass.

Yeah, Tiamat just gets brutal around the 22 second mark, that stupid jet fire spam is way too op. I also found out I took a picture of the victory last night, I thought my screenshot take on my phone wasn't working but apparently it was since it was in my files.



I know some people say legend diving Relm is a waste of motes but it's a huge lifesaver here, I used to use Rosa in my attempts to beat Tiamat because of magic blink but she can't survive the Jet Fires in the 20 second mark. Rinoa and Ysyale are too squishy to live long in this mark as well, Shelke was okay because of the fireshard accessory we got earlier. I wish we could get a few more of those, or another accessory that resists Wind and Fire.

I just managed to clear Tiamat for the first time in 32.38. It would have been sub-30 if I played a little better at the end. Crazy enough the final piece of the puzzle was removing Serah for Raijin. Raijin's SSB helps keep the team alive and gives instant casts for more speed. Icicle Rush doesn't do much damage but it builds the chain, and Serah wasn't doing all that much damage with the setup I had anyway.

The other key realization was using Ovelia as my healer. I couldn't fit Protectga on my team before which made the Jet Fire spam just rip us apart. I noticed that Ovelia's USB gives +100% Res, so I dropped Shellga and gave her Protectga. I also have both her SSBs and the Medica/Magic Blink one came in handy.

It feels nice when you fit the pieces you have together like a puzzle and win a tough battle. Now I don't need to grab Ayame's gear... although it's back to square 1 of deciding what I do want. It's pretty much down to Bartz OSB/BSB vs Papalymo OSB. Luneth's OSB is an outside contender, but I already have his BSB which is a 5* +wind spear, so I probably don't really need a 6* +wind spear.

Hot dog I finally sub30'd this fucking dragon! Without a chain even! Those 4 new King Bombs and Fire Boost armors really helped with the DPS!



I guess after fighting Tiamat for so long Isgebind seemed so tame in comparison, I dropped Shelke for Papalymo and just chucked fire and had Tyro keep the quickcast up with Allegro con Moto. Onion Knight had to entrust her once in a while when she was short a bit. This would have been a lot easier if Tryo's LM was in the selection like it should be Dena, HINT HINT!

I guess I don't need Terra's OSB anymore, I was pretty close to picking it but I think I'll get Gladious' OSB now for Bartz so he can use those new *6 fire spellblades when they come out.

I got Sazh BSB. This is actually pretty okay for a 1/11 I use Sazh a lot. Difficult to get all the boosts up but it's nice to have the option to double stack physical or magic.

This banner is a skip for me, only a handful of noteworthy ones, and I have most of them. Too many sucky supers to be worth the risk.

Anyone else do the elite Fork Towers? They were tougher than I expected, but it's probably mostly due to the boss gauntlets so you have to conserve your buff hastaga for Omniscient/Minotaur. Lots o' *5 motes though! I Legend dived Edge with them.

i found the fork towers pretty easy. two rank 5 wraths and a joke of a first stage meant i didn't have to conserve anything in stage 2. hell, i used Serah as my hastega for the black one and used that and her BSB in stage two, and hastega + both of her BSBs against Omniscient.

Alright, finally managed it... beat Tiamat in 28.10. She's my second sub-30 among the 4* Magicite! I optimized my gameplan a little, but I also got a decent number of doublecasts. Now to do this 9 more times and then move on to Midgardsormr :)

Edit: you can't really see what's happening here, but that's Tiamat getting hit for 3x99,999 under there, I promise!

Yeah I beat the CoD in one try with mastery with Rydia Tidus Minwu Sazh Ovelia. Took till 48:40 though. I could probably do it with a single healer and trim that time a bit I was being a bit overly cautious since it wasn't a fight that required timeliness.

Rydia did the most damage of anyone btw. Although that's not entirely fair since it's super easy to get 3x hits on Opogogo with synergy since the base magic stat is like 750. Tidus had better backloaded burst late though which was important to avoid the death attack on failing to hit 130k in 4 turns. Rydia could've done it but it would need luck on multicasts (Opogogo hits CoD for 9999x3 with two Mag Boosts and Attach Water so you need two multicasts to trigger across two turns between the 20% Dualcast RM and 35% Legend Dive-- which does happen a reasonable amount of the time but still)

Uhhh... I counted what I have. This is what you're not getting. I was comparing what I have for Tidus and what I have for Rydia. You, having not a fraction of her potential, are in no position to fairly evaluate her damage compared to a Tidus or Yuffie with just their Ultras and dives. Hell if anything I'm in a better position to compare damages of a fully powered Yuffie/Tidus to a fully powered Rydia cause I can watch youtubes to know what damage a fully powered one of those two can do (and no one uses Rydia on Youtube)

Max difficulty Ozma seems like it might be difficult but I may be being too conservative with the roaming warrior. Not a big incentive to beat him with his reward or lack thereof but I'll probably give him a few tries just for Pride's sake.

Yeah I just didn't even bother with that fight. There are plenty of hard fights in the game right now, I don't want to waste my time with one that only gives a little bit of gil as a reward.

Well congrats on beating CoD with Rydia, but you might be getting overconfident thanks to the synergy which you won't have with Marilis. Also you're not being fair to Tidus because you didn't bring a shout or crit boost to cap his Sapphire shots or increase his chase damage. Also a bit on my end for overestimating CoD, while she does have *4 magicite level attack and speed, her resistance is only a fourth of what Marilis has.

CoD also doesn't have the 40% elemental boost the *4 magicite do and is random with her imperils, while Marilis will keep stacking them, so she still hits harder as well.

Also not sure why you're hyping up Rydia's legend dive and that I don't understand it when it's really basic, she doesn't have a trance or IC3 that skyrockets her. And her legend boosts are honestly not that great because they're focused on summoning, an ability class that's falling behind the powercreep due to it's low hit count. Her LM2 is just a standard doublecast almost everyone has and while the LMR is nice it doesn't really stand out when there's plenty of quickcast options for magic these days. Even if I did dive her I'd end up with what, a character that at best does 9999x6 and in very rare cases 3x9999 if I use the doublecast summon RM (and she probably won't be hitting capping against Marilis anyway without a chain) Bartz, Tidus and Edge beat her hard in water DPS and hit count and there's a bunch of better mages out there. Only thing that's standout about her is summons, and as I pointed out before they won't be that useful in a meta focused on chains and 1.5 million HP bosses and everyone will be moving on to Vortex or 5-hit chain water which Rydia doesn't get damage boosts for or activates her quickcast LMR. Even when her USB2 comes out it's going to be overshadowed by Onion Knight's USB3 as a water mage(on the very next fest banner to boot) and he gets boosts on black magic with his dive.

And the main reason you get the idea that Rydia out DPS Tidus and Yuffie is probably you use 30% attack boosts and no entruster (which is really baffling since Yuffie can't wrath or lifesiphon) And Tidus' BSB2 is going to be selectable in future BSB selects banners so his lack of quickcast shouldn't be an issue then.

And as you pointed out earlier, nobody uses Rydia on YouTube, if she was as great as you claim she obviously wouldn't be as underused as she is.

Well, I finally made up my mind on the gift draw. I picked with my head instead of my heart and went with the VII set - three items I don't have, a +dark katana, and potentially useful SBs for the upcoming Siren magicite. My heart wanted Papalymo's OSB to get me sub-30 against Isgebind, but I'm basically already done with that fight (collected a set of level 99 ice magicite) and by the next time I need Fire power I'm planning to have drawn better stuff for Terra and/or Vivi. That and 2/3 items in the XIV set are dupes.

I mean to me as long as I can clear content for the highest reward I'm good. You can keep your OMGWTF enthrust 8 second clears where you carbon copy the same strategy every time with a different element. I'll use characters that aren't Shelke and Onion Knight and scrape by at just below 30s I don't really care. More fun to use actual good characters than draw for the OP stuff every time. Just annoyed that I'm being told Rydia doesn't do viable damage by a guy who is basing it on a non-dived Rydia with her BSB when she absolutely does do viable damage if anyone on my teams do because I have eyes and can compare what the damage outputs are. I use her in 3/4 of my sub 30 magicite teams for a reason (and expect her to be used in probably 5/8 when I beat em all) and it's not because she's my favorite character in the game. Lucking into all the relics for a character generally makes them pretty good.

And if no one on my teams have viable damage then who cares anyway I'm screwed either way.

I think if it's impossible to beat Marilith with Rydia in the team it's a lost cause to beat her at all for me.

Because as I stand now she's an MVP-- and yeah while Tidus and Yuffie have a lot more room to grow since I have less of their stuff, if Rydia is straight up impossible to work into a team that can beat Marilith I think I'd have to either whale hard or pray to have a chance to win. Like it's not like I can do anything on this banner to make them more powerful.

But yeah the core issue is basically, I want both the Lulu Ice Boost armor and the Gogo Rod and I can get both by drawing on this + the library, but I think I'm closer to needing the Gogo Rod as I can sub 30 the 3* Ice and am fairly certain I have no chance in hell at beating the 4* Ice through any method whereas I might be able to limp through a 60s or 90s clear on Marilith, given the relative strength of the teams.

I used to use Sazh on a fair number of my 3* Magicite teams. I loved the instant cast 2 he gets from his burst. It let him buff and entrust in the same fight pretty effectively. The main reason I stopped using him was I got Ramza's LMR and I legend dived Shelke. But I think he's totally still viable.

In general I agree, way more characters are viable than the ones that are considered the very top tier. I could easily see Rydia being on a team that sub-30s Malaris, but only if you have a water chain, and she'd be a secondary DPS. But the more important part is I just don't think it's worth spending $30 for an item JUST for an element boost, especially a 5* item. It better at least have a useful SB attached to it. And that goes double for summoners because they need to hit that 1191 magic threshold for Tiamat and Ogopogo... you really want a 6* item. (I know the threshold will be lowered to 900, but summoners still want a high magic stat).

I definitely do want a water chain either way, but that's independent of Rydia in any case. I've now put in over 500 mythril worth of draws into banners with Tidus's chain on it and have come up empty so I mean, yeah, it's tough sometimes. Maybe Rikku will be more kind with giving me the chain-- although in some ways I'd actually prefer to get Tidus's to be honest since that Instant Cast 2 seems pretty sweet.

Yeah. I just looked through the list and there are a bit over 200 6* relics. Way less than 20 of em I want. It's wasted mythril. Think I'm just going to do normal draws from here on out unless there's a really good gimmick on the lucky. I'll consider Lulu's a pretty decent one to get and be done with it.
