5. The first boss in FE4 who doesn't have a ranged weapon and if you fight him with an archer he calls you a coward.
4. Nedata (9) He's a singing pirate and I want to recruit him so badly.
3. I forget his name but the guy in FE9 who uses priests as a shields and then when he dies he says he shoulda brought more of them or some babies.
2. Gazak, the first boss in the series. He's technically playable now in Fates as a captureable enemy so who knows how unimportant he is but I love this dumb bandit
1. Denning (7) The "This is a message from Lord Nergal. I await you on the Dread Isle." guy. I want to recruit him.

I'm not big on bosses in the series frankly, I don't find them super challenging or memorable usually. But let's see.

5. Ike vs. Black Knight (10). Way better than the FE9 version even if you can cheese it pretty easily.
4. Valter + Caellach (8). A big turning point in the game with awesome pre-battle dialogue for Cormag and Joshua.
3. Gharnef (1, 3, 11, 12). I actually kind of respect the Starlight gimmick, it adds a different layer to the fight.
2. Lloyd (7) in Cog of Destiny. There's a big emotional impact from fighting him and he's definitely one of the harder bosses in a generally easy game.
1. Ishtar and Julius (4) in chapter 10 I think, when you're supposed to run from them but if you're gutsy you can fight them.

5. Binding Blade (6) lmfao get wrecked everyone who isn't roy
4. Audhulma (8) I honestly just like the name.
3. Brave Sword (like every game), cuz if you ever want something dead, Brave weapons will do it.
2. Ragnell (9/10). Way to raise the bar there on legendary swords. Lords have never had it as good as Ike.
1. Mistoltin (4) because it's the Mistletoe Sword and that's great.

Speed is almost always the god stat. Then you need Str/Mag to actually be useful. Bad movement cripples otherwise good units. And then it's a tossup for Def/Skl/Res/HP but I stand by my decisions here.

I'm gonna throw part of this into spoilers aside from the game in question. And I'm going to interpret it as "...and you might reasonably have expected them to" or else it would have a bunch of villains on it.

5. Reinhardt (5) He really seems like he'll be recruitable but he's not. Honestly he's sort of a nothing character in FE5 but I like him in Heroes because I'm scumbag cavalry emblem user.
4. Fargus (7). Have you seen this dude's stats? Holy SHIT. Just let this guy fight Nergal.
3. Lloyd (7) EVERYONE wanted to recruit this guy. You even had to meet a special requirement to fight him later, and he seems more reasonable than Linus, and Nino can talk to him, and you just... can't recruit him. DUMB.
2. Galle (6) UGH why are you not recruitable you dumb idiot you can even talk to him with Melady and he'll turn non-aggressive but he still won't join you. Annoying. If you leave him alive the game doesn't even have the courtesy to reward you for it.
1. Eldigan (4) I think the story is better if he doesn't join you but I want him to because I love him. Eldigan is great, I'm so glad he's suddenly popular now.

I think most games have pretty mediocre ones honestly. The secondary villains are generally better IMO.

5. Zephiel (FE6). Uh, because he beats the ones I didn't put on this list.
4. Nergal (FE7). I've played FE7 enough to be kinda sick of this dude but he's fairly compelling the first time around.
3. Ashnard (FE9). He was a refreshing change of pace, unfortunately FE10 kinda retconned him into a mid-boss.
2. Lyon (FE8). I guess it's debatable if he's the primary villain or not. I don't really count the Demon King in here, he's really just a generic evil guy. Lyon himself is way more interesting, if you believe he's actually... there at all.
1. Arvis (FE4). Again I guess it's debatable but he's the most compelling villain in the game with the most compelling story.

Oh man I'm glad you brought up that example cuz it's gonna be on here.

5. FE8's desert chapter. Reuniting your party, fighting Valter and Caellach, and one of the better designed desert maps in terms of interesting terrain. Good map zone.
4. FE9 priest shoving. Love it.
3. FE6's desert chapter. Man, two desert chapters on here. I'm taking a break from politics but the opinions are just as weird. I love how much stupid shit the game throws at you in this chapter, it's really just a huge fuck you on every level and I love it.
2. FE10 part 3-final. An ominously ticking down number and a huge war that the whole game's been building up to.
1. FE7 final chapter. Boss rush, Nergal, and trying to one-shot the dragon with Luna. Fun times, and maybe the most challenging final chapter.

Nothing from FE4 cuz it would be unfair~

5. Zelda, but I really don't want Zelda cameos in FE. An SRPG with Zelda characters could be neat though.
4. Fate/Stay night. Okay I've barely even played FSN but I think I understand enough about the premise to know this checks out and would be awesome.
3. Soul Calibur. Mostly I just want a Fire Emblem 3D fighter actually, but either way.
2. Pokemon. I'd have been more excited for this when I was younger but it'd still be hecka rad.
1. Tales. If you had to do a full on crossover, this is where to go. I think they "fit" better than most especially now that FE has gone full anime.

4. Ryoma (Fates). Haha, if you thought Birthright was easy before you got Ryoma you're in for a treat after he joins you. I think it's been tested and he can solo the game with his starting stats or something ridic like that.
3. Sirius (FE12). If you're having an issue with FE12, reclass Sirius to Wyvern Lord and watch him and his 27 movement kill everything on the map.
2. Robin (Awakening). Even without Nosferatu, Robin is just crazy good. She's like the only character from the first gen that can really hang with the kids.
1. Marcus (FE7) just crushes the entire game, it's not even fair.

5. Lyn. She's kind of irrelevant to the story but it's not her fault.
4. Marth. Marth is underrated, I really like him as a character. He gets a surprising amount of development in FE11 and 12.
3. Hector. Cool on the surface, even cooler once you see his more nuanced sides.
2. Sigurd. If you want a picture of FE4's story, imagine a boot stomping on Sigurd's face, forever.
1. Ike. He's like the opposite of Corrin, in that he's great in like every way.

I think it should be possible with just Athos (and Nils)? You might need a healer too. It would definitely be way harder though.

I almost listed CoD but I prefer less enemies who are stronger to CoD's zerg rush. It's a fun zerg rush though! 3-Final beats out 3-7 for me though yeah the catharsis is nice. Honestly 2-Final might be up there too.

I don't really like Battle Before Dawn though (except plot-wise) >_>

Marcus is just super functionally useful in FE7, as a meatshield, he isn't touched by much even in hector hard mode, he can make it pretty far in the game before he starts to have difficulties.

Yeah Marcus is OP in more of a utility sense than in pure stats, though he's also kind of OP in pure stats too. He can gain nothing all game and still be relevant for most of it.
