Tennessee was planning to hire Greg Schiano, and the fanbase went nuts (and that might be an understatement). He was apparently connected to all the Sandusky stuff that happened at Penn State. Tennessee state officials even contacted the school and asked them not to hire him, and then Sarah Huckabee Sanders chimed in for good measure.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, the Dark Tournament is finally over and not a moment too soon. At least Yusuke/Toguro managed to live up to the hype for the most part. There was a lot of action built on constant one-upsmanship, so it kept the tension at a good level. The powering up and talking didn't feel like it was just them standing around doing nothing, too, which is good.

How did the whole Toguro/Genkai backstory plotline feel to you? Favorite fight in the whole tournament?

I really love how the good guys all got to rise to the occasion and shut out the final match, even with the one technical loss.

Oh and the Sakyo/Shizuru subplot was completely new material for the anime. I don't really know what that was.

The Toguro/Genkai plot was okay, I guess. I don't think Toguro is great as a character so I can't really get excited for anything he does other than Yusuke fighting him at the end. Genkai is great with everyone, so being great against Toguro isn't anything new.

All the final round matches were pretty solid. As far as non-finals matches go, Yusuke's fight against the Irish elf wind master was probably the best one.

Robazoid anime news: I started watching Working!! last night. It's a lot of fun but I'm only five episodes in so a few of the characters are still growing on me.

I also randomly started something called Red Data Girl. I... don't hate it or anything but it has taught me that I should probably do more research than none at all before starting something, even something random.

Friendly note: you can drop anime. If you're not liking it, just stop watching it! RDG had a fair amount of hype for the name and potentially cool premise, but it's considered to be the worst work by the studio that made it by a good margin. Plus I think it just ends with a "see the rest in the novels!" type ending without even trying to conclude things.

Actually Haruchika was received pretty poorly as well I think.

Gosh I don't know. I like some of their stuff a lot but the studio has a fair amount of awful also to go along with it.

Working is great anime. There's a lot of it too so take your time between seasons if you must.

I dropped RDG after 2 episodes. PA Works has much better stuff to offer, like Shirobako.

Glasslip is probably a tier below the other two that have been mentioned yeah.

Best PA Works shows are Tari Tari and Nagi no Asukara imo. The most popular are probably Shirobako and Angel Beats but personally I have not-gamebreaking-but-still-noticeable issues with those.

I watched RDG but the only thing I really remember about it was the female lead was voiced by Hayami Saori. I'm reasonably sure that was the exact reason I started the show in the first place so I think I got what I wanted out of it in the end even if I don't really remember. >_>

I don't think RDG deserves to go on my drop list quite yet. Unlike Restaurant to Another World it actually has characters. Unlike Gantz, I also don't despise those characters! Plus, there are enough intriguing aspects to RDG that I want to see if they go anywhere. It's just felt kind of mediocre so far.

One of these days I'll randomly pick a winner!

Working!! is pretty solid. it made me laugh quite a bit when I first watched it. but for some reason the humor doesn't click with me as well now. I actually struggled to even get through one of the newer seasons despite it being essentially more of the same.

Yusuke is bored of real life and decides to pick a fight with a dude who somehow has crazy spirit power and gets abducted as a result. Now it's up to the others to save him!

In Fate/Zero, Rin Tohsaka (the only Fate character I'd heard of before starting this thing) gets a day in the limelight as she saves a bunch of kids from Caster's master. Kariya also gets some much-needed screentime as he comes to her rescue and talks briefly with Rin's mother about his mission to save Sakura. Also, Rider, Archer, and Saber get together for a round table discussion on what a king should be. Rider reveals that his wish from the Grail would be reincarnation so he can conquer the world again, and Saber reveals she'd wish for history to be changed so that Britain isn't conquered under her rule. Archer claims he just wants what is rightfully his and doesn't want anyone else to have it, but who knows. Rider essentially puts Saber in her place, and then puts a bunch of Assassins in their place as he apparently has the ability to summon his entire army to fight with him. It was pretty impressive. I kinda want Rider to win now just so he can wage war with Bill Clinton.

She's one of the main heroines in Fate/Stay Night yeah. Basically the only reason she does anything in Fate/Zero is for fanservice reasons and it literally doesn't matter at all.

Rin episode is definitely among the weakest episodes, IMO. Largely for the reasons pyre noted.

Meanwhile in .hack//G.U. Last Recode I have finished the main story of Vol 3 but Vol 3 has a big postgame, including the True Ending so it'll still probably be a bit before I get to Vol 4. Thinking I'll play Chaos;Child next even though it's likely Last Recode will have me occupied until Tokyo Xanadu ex+ comes out. Feel more like a VN right now I think, but we'll see if that changes as I get closer to that.

In Fate/Zero, it looks like Assassin is dead for real this time since Kirei's Command Seals are all gone. However, Archer spends a long time messing with him about the concept of joy and desire, particularly in regard to Kariya of all people. It also comes up that if a Servant dies but the Master survives, they can be chosen again by the Grail and can claim a different Servant. At the end of all this, Kirei's seal reappears on his hand, and it seems like Archer is trying to manipulate him into stealing him away from Tohsaka. I did kind of see this one coming, which is why I gave Assassin such high odds to begin with, but I didn't realize his betrayal could take this form, so giving Archer the second best odds still feels like the right move. At the very least, we're heading toward a Kiritsugu/Kirei showdown at some point.

Kirei and Gil (Archer) are so good. Not quite the best because Kiritsugu exists, but they're all great.

Also, I told myself I wouldn't mention Mr. Robot until the season ended since I'm seemingly the only one here watching it, but as I have many times in this topic, I guess I'm breaking that for the moment. Because I have to, once again, stress how amazing this show is. Really great and emotional episode yesterday, at the end I just started tearing up as it all released. Best Show on TV yo.

I feel like you'd like that episode in a vacuum, Leon, but I don't know how much you'd like the show overall so I'm not sure I could whole-heartedly recommend it to you.

now jeff i could. it wouldn't be "trails in the sky i am almost 100% sure you will love this" level but it'd probably be the closest to that i've come.
