oh hey I read the latest ReLIFE chapter tonight and I think we're about to hit the endgame

not sure how long the endgame will last but I imagine they'll want everything to be done before that four episode finale comes out in March

They'll definitely have to skip a lot of content unless they're going to be hour long OVAs or something.

They managed to cover 111 chapters in 13 episodes (individual chapters aren't very long for what it's worth), but the latest chapter was 210 (with an indeterminate amount to go), so they'll have to cram at least 100 chapters' worth into 4 episodes.

I can think of three arcs I'd like them to cover of the stuff that's not been adapted yet, plus whatever we get from the endgame.

Regardless, it probably won't do Chizuru justice. She's so great in the manga.

I would if you're more interested in characterization and development than just the plot. There's a lot of extra characterization and stuff you miss from the anime since it's hyper condensed. It's mostly the same content, just more fleshed out, so if you only want to follow the order of events, you could skip it. Anime Chizuru is really good, but manga Chizuru is legitimately one of my favorite female characters.

I've played some more and got the Deep Sky (Kazuki) end. I'm also currently on another (Uki one assumes, based on the fact that it's literally called "Uki Chapter") route split but that's still in progress.

I'd actually disagree here. By the time all this ends up mattering, Grail Sphere is a much better way of granting immunity IMO. Clock Down works on almost everything - it's obscene.

Grail Sphere is better, sure, but you still need to also be casting Earth Walls in support of it, since CP doesn't grow on trees. Also, in Nightmare, you need to spam Earth Wall long before Kevin becomes a permanent party member anyways.

plus you can make a strong argument that Kevin shouldn't be in your final party regardless. Which is actually something I've been trying to figure out, for speedrun routing -- Schera's Heaven's Kiss and Zin's True Distend are so good, and it's only Normal difficulty, but would it simply be worth not having to cast Earth Wall for a couple rounds? These are the questions that haunt me.

As for me in CC, I cleared Dark Sky (Arimura), which was... something, and am also now on what is presumably Uki's route.

I was talking from the viewpoint of normal gameplay on Normal. By the time you "need" Immunity you really should have Kevin. You should also probably have Gladiator Belt to assist with CP. Unless you get unlucky, Grail Sphere - especially if you have it at 200 CP for the double effect - should see you through any trouble.

Clock Down also indirectly lowers the damage you take by reducing enemy turns over a given period of time so you're taking less damage/have less stress on healers, Grail Sphere is then in your pocket for the spike damage you may face from big attacks. Earth Wall, if you're spamming, is likely tying up a character and taking them off DPS, to use MMORPG jargon. It's ultimately safer since you can make yourself practically immortal but IMO it's usually not necessary and just slows you down with the turns wasted to casting it.

From a speedrun perspective, I dunno. I assume Agate is a lock for Wild Rage antics. I could probably hear cases for Kevin (Grail Sphere + give him the heal/support duties), Kloe (Emergency Healer) , Schera (Heaven's Kiss), and Zin (True Distend/Is that other craft of his still bugged?) for the last spot.

Zin casually punching things is just better than Agate spamming Wild Rage and S-Breaks (+60% STR is stupid, and True Dragon Kick still multihits with multitargets, yes; I think that's intended behavior?). You could maybe argue Agate for the fourth slot, but I don't think it's worth it? As for Kloe, her having three locked water quartz slots winds up being too much of a problem.

Well, I said 2 endings but they came from the same route and don't amount to many different scenes, so with text skip for already-read stuff it was basically the equivalent of going through one route

Finished watching the December 18th stuff of Disappearance. Man, the premise of this movie is so good, especially how Kyon reacts to it all. The music is low key great, too.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, Yusuke thinks demons eating humans is the same thing as eating a hamburger. It turns out that he's not the only one who's been summoned to help a demon king. Kurama and Hiei have been invited to help the other two kings, and Spirit World is all too eager to open a portal to Demon World to let them all in to get rid of them. Keiko gets disillusioned (and rightly so) at the prospect of Yusuke leaving with no guarantee of returning alive yet again, but he promises to be back in 3 years and proposes they get married when he does. Looks like Kuwabara is getting left behind to be a good student. Well, they've set the stage for something interesting, if nothing else.

In F/SN UBW, we learn a little about Caster and the fact that she had another Master prior to the one she has now who didn't trust her and tried to get rid of her to no avail. Also, Kirei is supposedly dead now, although Rin is apparently a comic book fan and says that if you didn't see the corpse, then it doesn't count and he's not really dead. Archer double crosses Rin and joins Caster's side, although I imagine he's got something deeper planned other than simply joining the winning side. Shirou saves Rin and then confesses his feelings for her, prompting her to go deep into tsundere mode. Poor Sakura. You haven't even been around lately to give yourself a chance.

Now both lacking Servants, Shirou and Rin both decide to ask Ilya and Berserker (who is apparently Hercules) for help. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh gets there first and shows he hasn't lost his touch. Not sure what he's up to exactly, but I guess we'll find out soon!

It's interesting to see Yusuke "losing" his humanity slowly over the course of the series without it being like "look at these specific events that changed him!"

It's also debatable how serious he was with his conversation with Raizen.

All right, I finished the December 19th stuff in Disappearance. The scene with Kyon and Nagato in her apartment is one of my very favorite things, and there's a little detail in the book that doesn't show up in the movie. The anime does a good job of pointing out that Kyon is a sucker for ponytails, but it doesn't really mention that he's also a sucker for a pretty smile. The way he describes Haruhi's smile in the books is one of the few open hints that reveals how he actually feels about her (He calls her smile "brilliant" in the anime once but that's all the attention that aspect of him gets there).

Do you know how Kyon describes that tiny little smile Nagato gives him right before he leaves her apartment?

In Yu Yu Hakusho, I've finally watched 100 episodes, and we finally get some much-needed Hiei backstory. Those two episodes were really good.

In F/SN UBW, we get some background on Ilya and her relationship with Berserker, who she almost seemed to view as a parental substitute in a way. Berserker puts up admirable resistance against Gilgamesh, but like with Rider, eventually it's just too much even for him. I guess Gilgamesh was after Ilya's "heart" in order to create the Greater Grail. They state that the reason that the Grail War occurred so soon after the last was that it did not reach a satisfactory conclusion, I suppose because no wish was actually granted and there was no real winner. Then Lancer proposes an alliance with Shirou and Rin to take down Caster. Shirou agrees on the condition that Lancer doesn't flirt with Rin, who still is adamant on insisting that they're nothing more than fighting partners. What a show.

Chaos;Child progress: Got the Dark Sky end.

Another really strong ending/route. Really every route/end has been really excellent IMO. It's kinda weird. Whenever I try to compare it to Steins;Gate in my head I feel like Steins;Gate just has something that puts it ahead, but honestly I feel like I shouldn't feel like that.

i guess what i'm saying is that they're both really, really good

and i'm not even done with Chaos;Child yet! I'm now on Kurusu's chapter/route and I'm only a little bit in but wow it was a strong start. hype to see where it goes.

Also Dark Sky Ending Spoilers: jesus that epilogue. Really like this route because Arimura is the best so any chapter focusing on her is great. Liked the change-of-pace where it felt less like mysteries/the case and more about exploring Takuru and Arimura's characters with a lot more use of perspective swaps. but holy **** that epilogue. I spent 99% of the time thinking that Serika was behind it all (still do, and watching Serika knowing what's she really like is super interesting) but i was not prepared for that twist.

On my end, finished Uki's routes. It was a little obvious what was going on, but I still enjoyed it. I'm also on Kususu's now, though I don't know how much time I'm gonna have to play this going into Christmas.

Man, The Crown leans a little heavily into the romance and it's frequently as dry as plywood but when it's good it's STERLING. That fourth episode, which covered the London smog tragedy of 1952. Wow.
