Yeah, I was about to ask what exactly you were expecting from a Zelda ending! Did you get the SECRET ENDING for collecting all the memory spot things?

Eh the fights themselves were also like super Mario Galaxy easy. I'm not sure it was possible to even get hurt.

I got all the memories, I'm not sure what even less of an ending would be though.

The last scene with Link and Zelda only occurs with all the memory things.

I don't really care if a last boss is hard or not. I just want atmosphere.

I beat all the shrines so that I could become HERO of the WILD though. That pulled it all together.

Atmosphere comes from gameplay too! It's hard to suspend my disbelief that the characters are having a hard time if I'm not even a little.

And it's not like it was due to me being overpowered. Most Zelda games are easy, that was something else.

There's 120! I don't know how many you found naturally, but I got to 116 and the last ones needed a guide. The sheikah sensor is kinda pathetic.

His rock and roll intro was amazing. Panty guy dragged on quite a bit, but it was mostly really funny anyways. Still just halfway through the case though.

Klavier has some great animations. Stickler's a pretty good witness despite the weird shtick. I don't really like this case very much overall though.

I'm wrapping up 4-2 myself atm. A little better than I remembered (though 4-1 underwhelmed a bit relative to my recollection). I think AJ is the game I least recently replayed, so I had forgotten some of the details.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, we get Sensui's backstory and a display of his abilities. He's mastered the art of parrying and countering, and he can kick his energy around like a ball. Also, I feel like Kuwabara being the guy they need to break the barrier is kinda strange because he's absolutely the least likely guy to ever become a bad guy, even more than Yusuke. He's got a super strong sense of right and wrong, and he doesn't break that easily. I guess we'll see what they try to do though!

In Fate/Zero, Kiritsugu is actually a couple steps behind due to the fact that he didn't realize Tohsaka was dead and no longer Archer's Master. I had a pretty strong feeling that the Rider that abducted Irisviel was an impostor because that didn't seem like the sort of thing he'd do, but I wasn't expecting it to be Berserker in disguise. Now Kirei is toying with Kariya, too, huh? Man, this guy is really getting put through the wringer and he probably won't get anything for it. The Rider/Saber chase scene was pretty cool, and Rider overestimating his own abilities against Excalibur is one of the most Rider things yet, but that's why he's still the best.

Hmm...I'm thinking once I finish up Fate/Zero (only 4 episodes left, I think), I might watch the rest of the Star Wars movies leading up to Episode VIII, which is literally only 9 days away now. I haven't watched the prequels at all since I first saw them in theaters, so I'm a little wary, but I'll give it a try, I guess.

like you can't dream any bigger than that? you're just dogpiling on what Tohsaka and Kariya's own master were already doing to the guy

That day was today. I randomly started Engaged to the Unidentified and it is hilarious. Mashiro is amazing.

My Crunchyroll free trial also ran out today but I finally decided not to be cheap and subscribed for a year. After further research it turns out the vast majority of their content isn't free in Canada even with ads so this was my only option. I've found enough awesome animes through recommendations and now at random that I think it'll be worth it. This also still cost less than what I spent on that Tomoko figure so why not.

I'm alternating between random choices and actual recommendations specifically to avoid that situation. Anime has had an impressively high success rate for me so far, too, so I don't think that would happen regardless.

Plus, subscribing for a year instead of monthly works out to two whole dollars saved per month! How can I lose?

Oh this conversation happens this late in Fate/Zero? Woops. I will say I'm a bit less surprised by previous comments about Kirei then.

Also I think you're misunderstanding or at least misrepresenting this a bit. It's portrayed in a bit of an understated manner, but the fact that he has no real dreams to speak of (at least in the conventional sense) is supposed to be an extremely profound and liberating realization to Kirei.

Put another way, he spent his entire life "dreaming bigger than that" when they weren't really his dreams at all but the dreams that society and/or his father told him he should be having, and it's through this realization that he's able to free himself of that burden.

I get that the whole point of Kirei is that he really has no idea what he wants and no idea what would make him happy, and he's just been doing what other people tell him to do until Archer starts putting ideas in his head. But like, you're liberated from that burden and the way you celebrate is to do what multiple people were already doing?

Never played Wind Waker, so I can't comment on that. Zelda had plenty of personality in BotW, and I don't like Ganon at all anyway.

She did, but it wasn't apparent during the final battle. Most of her personality was in the backstory, if you didn't get the memories and ran straight to the final battle I think she would appear as generic as most Zeldas.

They were great! Also the idea that Link was literally not talking for a long time before opening up to Zelda even gives insight to his own personality more than most!

But I was specifically remarking on final battles. Wind Waker's feels the most personal and I really appreciate it for that. (And I took damage!)

I'm actually surprised you still appear to favor Kirei over Kiritsugu. Earlier when you stated that I thought to myself you'd find yourself back on Team Kiritsugu however reluctantly.

Started Chaos;Child, got to Chapter 2. Pretty good so far. I like the cast so far. No one is Okabe level yet but hey it's early! And on the flip side no one is Moeka level. Hope the Mapping Trigger sections get more complicated/involved because I love the idea in theory but so far it's been really simple. The game also really knows how to turn the tension up at times.

I didn't think he would like Kirei. However, not liking Kirei doesn't necessarily means joining Team Kiritsugu.

I actually watched the Chaos;Child anime. One of my regrets was not reviewing Chaos;Head beforehand which lead to falling behind on understanding how the world works.

The anime's kind of a mess, personally. Chaos;Child is a ginormous VN, while the anime is 12 episodes. I genuinely believe they did as good a job as they could adapting it, but... There's only so much you can do, given those constraints.

Also the triggers are so good, and those are completely stripped out so >_> Though XP, I'm not sure what you mean by "more complicated"?

Team Rider is by far the best, but Kirei has at least had a semi-interesting character arc and is a solid antagonist character. Kiritsugu is uninteresting and a bad protagonist.

But yeah, it's a bad sign when you make me want to root for the bad guy, although Crispin Freeman has a knack for playing good villains.

So far they've been obvious right/wrong answers of matching pictures to events. Matching that should be known information to everyone in the club. So, in theory, if I did it wrong the others should go "uh wtf" and fix it immediately. I'm hoping eventually I have to use some reasoning to make educated guesses or logical deductions or something.

Mapping Triggers are when you have the kind of board you see in crime/conspiracy things where you connect names/pictures to each other with string and stuff. So far the two Mapping Trigger sections I've done gave me the event and asked me to select the correct picture associated with it to pin it up on the board that's a map of Shibuya. (The first one was actually slightly challenging because I think it related to Chaos;Head and so without having seen/played it, I had to remember the one time the game had shown the correct associations previously.)

Delusion Triggers occur periodically during the game and let you choose between a Positive or Negative delusion (or none) and if you pick a delusion you see a scene where the delusion plays out. It just takes place in the MC's mind though because it jumps back to reality, usually with a comment from the MC on how that couldn't be possible/a confused reaction from other characters if he says something related to the delusion out loud.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, Yusuke is on the run from Sniper in a pretty cool sequence of events, but Hiei shows back up after taking a few episodes off to save the day. He also fights Yusuke for the heck of it to make sure he's ready to give it all he's got. Oh, and apparently this Gourmet dude has a Kirby copy ability, so he's just planning to eat Kuwabara once his power manifests. I guess that's one workaround.
