When I was in high school my province had that policy. Basically a student with less than 500 hours of work experience could be paid $6/hr. After that they had to be paid at least the minimum wage ($8/hr).

Sadly what a lot of businesses would do was hire a person and then fire them when they were approaching the 500 hour mark.

Approval among REPUBLICANS is still pretty high if it hasnt changed much since the AHCA.

Well, maybe! Registered Republicans make up what, 32% of the electorate? 34%? Something around there. So if you take the 17% approval rating, depending on rounding and sample selection you could have majority Republican approval even if zero independents and Democrats approve.

Of course, voting for a bill that has absolutely zero independent support has its own suite of issues, but if your foremost concern is "don't get primaried" you take what you can get.

Except it's not a uniform sales tax across all states. Like when I was living in Florida and they have a 7% sales tax.

I also don't like consumer taxes in general because it's basically a poor tax since they can't tax their income.

I'm a big fan of sales taxes because they are inherently a tax on the income that you can afford to lose - so long as things that are actually necessities are not taxed, which I think might need some reforms but I'm not sure

Yeah but look at items like cars, which are taxed literally every time they're sold, yet other items generally aren't.

I'm used to buying a car from an auction, paying the sales tax, sell it a month later and they have to pay the sales tax on it, too. Sell a car enough times and you're talking hundreds or even thousands in taxes.
