Shalnor Legends, a completely soulless Zelda copy that I kept playing because... hell if I know.

Pokemon Sword is real bad, but there were some parts of it I liked.

Fuck if I know I beat almost every game I play.

A much easier question is what's the best game I didn't finish! (killer7)

Final Fantasy X-2 and Paper Mario: Sticker Star are both good picks mentioned here.

Devil May Cry 2 takes the price though.

Octopath Traveler (didn't truly beat this one, but got wiped like two hours into the final boss and decided "fuck this")
Rise of the Tomb Raider was not very good, but part of my dislike I attribute to wanting to 100% it and sticking with it, despite how utterly boring it was to collect everything
And Yet It Moves was a pretty crappy indie game that got some acclaim at the time
Golden Sun was a weirdly mediocre game for how much praise it seemed to get. I also couldn't believe it ended on a cliffhanger...never did play the second part.

I own and have beaten Quest 64, but I have a bit of a soft spot for that game since I was a dumb child at the time and enjoyed it back then. I know I wouldn't like it if I replayed it (or maybe I would purely off the nostalgia trip?)

First thing that came to mind is Dead Island.

that game started out kind of cool, but (if Im remembering right) it got pretty shitty as you had to fight more live human enemies... but I think I saw it through to the end

also one of those Lego Marvel games... I was enjoying it up to a point, but by the time I finished it I became so burnt out on the gameplay that Ill never play another one of them

beat sticker star too, but that was at least... mediocre rather than outright a bad time. Outriders last year is a similar situation. A game I beat, and sort of liked, but wasnt really good enough for the time I put into it.

Limbo, it's at least short tho.

Tales of Symphonia is probs more noteworthy for being much longer.

i've thought about this a lot since i'm often confused why people will complain about games they've beaten. I can't get through a game if i don't like it enough to stick with it to the end.

so i will preface this by saying that if i beat a game, it is because i liked it enough to go that far:

Undertale

pokemon x/y is fairly close too. but i wouldn't have beaten either game if i truly hated them, but undertale and x/y are both easy answers for "least favorite game i've beaten". can't really think of anything else i had as overwhelmingly many problems with as i did that i still got to the end of. both 7/10s!

Offhand, Lufia 1. Lufia 2 is soooo good so I forced myself all the way through but basically nothing that makes 2 good is present in 1.

I think it took me about 30 minutes of playing Lufia 1 to go "yeah this isn't good" and quit

I can't speak for anyone else, but all of my top choices would be from games I went through as a kid, so it wasn't like it was during a point in my life where I respected or valued my time.

For me, most of the games in this category either got worse over time (I liked Kentucky Route Zero's first two episodes) or were quite short (Mega Man 7 probably took me ~3 hours).

Or it's a part of my favorite series and I played the whole thing 30+ hours hoping it would get better. ;_;

Super Mario 64 has continued to be that for me and frankly it's 100% because I didn't play it back when it was the only 3D platformer. I played BK first which easily trumped nearly anything 64 did and I played Galaxy before 64. There wasn't a fun experience left there.

Skyward sword had so much going for it but the issues that started small like pop-ups for every material resetting on game load got more and more annoying over time.

Skyward sword would have been phenomenal at 25 hours, but the padding made me hate it over time

Wow. I knew I was stubborn but you peoples games are so good compared to mine.

tossup between a bunch of NES games, some of which are fairly obscure.
of the ones that arent obscure, its probably between:
-Shadowgate (I already didnt particularly like Maniac Mansion but screw this stupid thing. 80s PC games must have truly sucked for this to be one of the notable ones.)
-Dragon Warrior (Ill agree with others that the likes of Lufia 1 and Golden Sun Dark Dawn arent exactly excellence in JRPG design but they look pretty damn good compared to the sheer boring, grinding nothingness of this thing. This was already a dreadful game 5 years after release let alone now.)

Dishonorable mention to the original Fire Emblem as well.

Ultima 8, I guess, for sheer bile fascination and because I loved 7/Savage Empire/Martian Dreams. I did not bother with 9 after that.

Dota 2 is a game that I hate that I still play "to completion."

Actraiser 2 is a distant memory, but there too.

Not a video game, but book series- Game of Thrones. I tried liking the books while the show was still going, I really did, but i couldn't stand random name drops and oh they fucked and oh they killed this guy and et cetera.

EDIT: Oh, and Fire emblem Shadow Dragon. Ugly and dumb that it encourages killing shitty units for other featureless asshats.

Kingdom Hearts definitely takes the cake for me as an overall experience, but it did have a couple fun levels.

Secret of Mana and Pokemon X are good choices too.

Shadow of the Colossus

Played it with a group who was more into it than I was. If it was just me I would have quit after the flying one you fight fairly early. It was an annoying game to play for me, the spectacle is neat but there is just too much tedium in finding the colossi AND battling them. Pretty much the opposite of what I'd call fun.

Pokemon games can be a disappointment and a step back from where they were, but the core formula is strong enough that I'd never consider them here and I'm sure a bunch of the mentions would not be there if said entry was the only one.
