Mikasa is another victim to the classic trap of high attractiveness, medium-to-high personality, but low girlfriendness. Shes very attractive (I used the anime version, which is slightly more attractive than the manga version I know people usually consider mangas to be more official, but too bad), to the point where I would say she even goes beyond generic anime cuteness, and shes got a lot of good personality traits, like being very perceptive, intelligent, and caring and protective of the people she loves but its very clear that her focus is just on Eren, right? And more importantly, shes another adventurer waifu, one who fights soldiers and monsters all the time. I just dont see any relationship working here.

Also, can I just quote something from TVTropes really fast? Because this is hilarious:

So, this is another waifu I accidentally overrated while making the list. As I checked things in preparation for this writeup, I realized that she belonged lower. My mistake! Everyone above 125 can be bumped up one ranking.

Looks-wise, she relies heavily on generic anime cuteness. Theres something slightly unique about her face, I dont know enough about animation to really describe what it is, but Id definitely say that shes a classic cute face, giant eyes, tiny mouth waifu, of which we have roughly a billion on this list. Like, you either need more than generic anime cuteness or you need to do it really, really well, and she Kureha doesnt quite manage either of those.

I could talk about Kurehas personality, and how shes shy and learns to become more assertive and confident, or describe why I gave her a low Girlfriendness rating, but I know perfectly well why this waifu was nominated. She was nominated because shes afraid of bears, but the ending of the show is her having a magical lesbian kiss that turns her and her girlfriend into immortal teddy bears because their love is approved of by magical lesbian bear gods, who are male. I thought I was reading the Wiki wrong, I thought I was misinterpreting things, so I tracked down the ending of the show on YouTube, and no, that is exactly what happens.

Can you imagine a show like that coming out in any country except Japan?

Jesus of Christ, Nami, what is wrong with your torso? You look like one of those Victorian-era photographs of women who spent their entire lives wearing corsets. But since I said Id use whatever official art is most attractive, I will keep to that promise yours just happens to be your episode 1 art, when your body looked like a human body.

So, Nami. Like Robin, she has the advantage of not being an idiot. By One Piece standards, shes an absolute genius, which means by normal life standards shes around average. Like, how do you factor only person who doesnt want to visit obviously the deadly islands of super death? I know that her love for money is supposed to be a drawback, but, like, again in the context of the world she lives in, that makes total sense. Who doesnt want a sensible waifu whos good with money, has a sense of humor and fun, and makes reasonable decisions (even if she gets overruled a lot)? And while she is sort of a thief, shes not like a Yuffie thief where shell completely leave you high and dry.

But, once again, she has the exact same problem as Robin. Shes not even just an adventurer, shes specifically a pirate. For all of the same reasons, this is like the worst possible job for your waifu to have. Hell, at least Robin is also an archeologist, which is like a real, normal job, Nami is just a navigator, so even in the best-case scenario where shes not wanted by the world government, shes still going to be sailing around the world all the time.

Again, what we ultimately are left with is the definition of high attractiveness and personality, low girlfriendness, sorry.

Aw yeah, zombie waifus. I dont know if I should even count me as being familiar with Rottytops, because Ive only played one game, but it did have her in it, and it did have all of the girls dress in Princess Leia slave costumes, so Im counting it. By the way, her human form is significantly hotter than her zombie form, but Im only counting main forms.

Ill say it outright: Rottytops is easily the hottest zombie waifu in fiction. She doesnt have a ton of competition, but its true. Shes one of the hotter undead waifus, beaten mostly by vampires. Her attractiveness goes beyond generic anime cuteness, though I think much of it is really just down to her being a zombie instead of a human. That gives her instant character that many waifus just dont have. I also enjoy how her brothers turned into like gross monster zombies, but because shes a girl, shes still cute.

Theres a lot to like about Rottytopss personality, in the sense that shes kind of adorable, energetic, and clever, but shes also, like, a thief and a kidnapper? Shes manipulative at the very least, and isnt really a good friend. To her credit, she only talks about eating your brains, and wont actually do it, but I consider doesnt eat your brains to be an assumed quality of a waifu instead of an active benefit. In the game I played, shes introduced by claiming to be injured and demanding you carry her across an obstacle course, and then once you do, shes like actually I was fine but too lazy lol. Thats going to be funny one time, but I get the sense shell do this a lot. In a way, shes similar to Yuffie.

Girlfriendness, well, yeah. Another adventurer, and when shes not an adventurer, she lives in a gross caravan. Explaining this girlfriend to your parents is going to be a nightmare.

Overall there are some major issues with this waifu.

Katrina is another instance of Anagram accidentally overrated a waifu in one category and had to emergency boot her down. In this case, I somehow rated her attractiveness at 80? I dont know how I did that, I assume I accidentally misclicked her while rating another waifus attractiveness. So, every waifu starting with Imai Nobume gets +1 to their score, sorry.

So, ignoring the whole is a vampire thing and all of the issues that come along with that (I prefer my waifus able to walk around in the sun, call me old-fashioned), Katrinas got a ton of emotional hang-ups about loneliness that I dont know if anyone is really capable of handling? Like, Im happy that shes reluctant to mind control people into loving her because she wants their genuine love, but the fact that shell still do it is an issue for me. Dont get me wrong: this is clearly a very gray character morally, who does bad things for complicated reasons, but as a waifu specifically, dealing with someone who will kidnap a child because she thinks the parents are too strict is not going to be pleasant, even if shes super kind and raises the child herself.

But even more importantly, like, I get being a vampire and being afraid of the sun, yes. But attempting to plunge the land into eternal darkness by summoning a demon is maybe the stupidest possible solution to that problem? Like, how are people going to grow food without the sun? Im sorry, the fact that shed even consider this to be a viable solution is staggeringly dumb. I need to know that I can leave my waifu alone for a week and return to find the world has not been destroyed by her hand, and I just dont get that feeling from Katrina.

Every single one of the quintuplets in this show got nominated. Weve got five waifus from this obscure anime I had never heard of before, five waifus I had to research and watch clips of on youtube. Thats 7.25% of this list dedicated to the Quintessential Quintuplets. And man! The actual Japanese title of this is Five Equal Brides, so is this just the luckiest concept ever for good translation purposes?

Alright, so first things first. Yotsuba is channeling that generic anime cuteness energy hard. Of her five sisters, shes clearly the least cute and distinct from a generic anime waifu, where her only distinguishing physical characteristic is the hairbow. Ah, and her hairbow droops when shes feeling sad, I see it obeys Batman helmet rules. I havent actually watched the show, only clips on youtube, but Im guessing that despite the show ostensibly being about all of the sisters, theres slightly more emphasis on Itsuki and Yotsuba, because theyre always the ones featured most prominently on every piece of artwork, ala Jo in Little Women ostensibly being no more important than the other sisters but still clearly being the main character. Now, everyone can tell me Im wrong and that Ive completely misunderstood everything.

So, shes cheerful and generally happy, but secretly has an inferiority complex against her sisters, and is kind of loud. Before I go on, know that the loudness is the biggest strike there. I had a friend in high school who couldnt control the volume of his voice and Im still annoyed by him.

But anyway, her biggest weakness is that shes kind of stupid? Shes at least academically stupid enough to get a zero on a test and be forcibly transferred to a different school, which is pretty bad. Like, if Im trying to judge what quality of job a waifu is likely to get by her performance in high school, Yotsubas not doing great. But then again, its only high school, so I dont know, its not the biggest of deals.

Oh, looking up the series again, I see shes the one who ends up with the hero. Well, what do I know?

Within the confines of the art style, I think Katrina is pretty hot, TBH. Maybe a bit less so during the endgame content after you've had the dungeon scene, but she was the first game character who acted interested in Video-Game-Me, so I've always had a soft spot for her.

Can't deny the other remarks. Judging from her character growth during the game, I feel as if she would be a better girlfriend than they indicate, considering her defining attribute is her attempt to escape her own loneliness in a world that cannot accept her due to what she is. She does, after all, sacrifice herself, throwing herself in the way of a spell Ad Avis aims at you, in order to protect you. There's no question she cares for the PC, and the only real question is if she'd be the clingy, smothering type or if she could learn to be a complete person in a codependent relationship. Either way, she'd surely give up her whole plan to doom the world for purely selfish motives, and we'd have to hope she'd be doing it for the right reasons. Or maybe that's expecting too much.

One thing I've discovered while making this list is that makes a compelling character is not necessarily the same as what makes a good waifu, sadly.

Trails of Cold Steel has always been one of those series Ive been peripherally aware of, but have never really checked out in any great detail.

Looks-wise, Fie goes beyond generic anime cuteness and reaches the lofty heights of genuinely really attractive. Theres a joke in the series about how she doesnt have large breasts? Whatever, thats not a dealbreaker to me. Not much else to say, except that I know I tend to have a weakness for lighter-haired waifus, and you cant get much lighter than white.

Okay, so Fie isnt technically an adventurer by trade, but shes a soldier who goes on adventures, and she went to a military academy, so thats nearly as bad. Buuuuuuut, shes also willing to settle down and have a family, so thats some more points in her favor as a (literal) waifu. However, shes super lazy, naps all the time, and from what I can tell, is apathetic to most things? She doesnt come off as quite the emotionless girl archetype, and I do like the snark she clearly brings to the table, but its obvious that shes not going to go 100% on most things. Also, it seems like a relationship with her is going to involve cats? I dont mind owning a cat, but multiple cats are where I draw the line.

See, Fie is obviously a combination of the cute and slightly insecure and emotionless girl, but not really archetypes, and both of those, if youre going to do them, you have to do them perfectly to win me over. It can be done, and well see examples of each those higher up, but I dont know how well they mix?

In any case, dont get me wrong, I understand that Fie is very cute, and she comes off that way, but in terms of building a stayable relationship, there will be problems. Not insurmountable problems, but problems.
