I should get a new Vita to play new releases. Or maybe I'll go ahead and update that extra Vita TV I bought a while back (it was only fifteen dollars because it was system only; I already have everything else I need).

There's no way I'm updating my regular Vita. I can't play new releases on older firmware, but there's a billion other things it can do in exchange.

A major part of my life as a kid was getting up early and watching new episodes of my favorite cartoons with a big bowl of cereal. It was something I always looked forward to during the week, and still as a teenager when anime was starting to get big.

Then afterward I'd probably start playing some game; course I didn't have very many games back then so I knew each one inside and out. To this day certain music tracks like the forest theme from LttP or Jolly Roger Bay remind me of those quiet, lazy Saturday afternoons.

It sucks that Saturday morning cartoons aren't really a thing anymore, at least not like they used to be. That was a valued moment of my young life, and kids today don't get to look forward to it with streaming and everything.

I'm starting to think Amazon sabotages their older Fire tablets with each update, to give you incentive to buy a new one. I don't go online very often on my tablet, but each time I do and get a new update, it gets noticeably more sluggish afterward.

Out loud, very rarely, and only when I'm around my brother and his friends (or when I'm reciting song lyrics or quoting someone). But I think it pretty often, because I use it as a general term like "dude." It knows no race or even gender in my (mental) vocabulary.

I personally believe in the notion that a word only has as much power as people choose to give it. Like the way Lil B set out to change the meaning of "based," I would like it if we could strip all the negative feeling from the word, while of course not forgetting the past. But that still doesn't mean I go throwing the word around, because it's still offensive to a great many people.

To begin with, I specifically said his origin story, as in the part that was explained when Raditz came to Earth. It's common knowledge that Dragon Ball was originally based on Journey to the West, and that has no bearing one way or the other on this. But maybe it would have been more accurate to say the Saiyan arc in general was influenced by Superman.

There's not much point in pointing out all the ways the two are different, because if they were exactly the same, it would just be plagiarism. We know Dragon Ball is inspired by JttW, but it's still different in many ways. The point is that there are several similarities.

You are right that I can't find any direct quote confirming it though. But it's a commonly held fan theory. In any case, I think you're blowing this whole thing out of proportion, from as soon as I mentioned anime.

I started rereading Genshiken as I expected I would. There was indeed quite a bit of focus on doujins and eroge in the beginning. But until then the plot was mostly light; it's right around chapter 20 that it begins to focus on the actual characters and the issues they face. That and some new members make things a lot more interesting.

If padding in anime gets too bad, you can usually just go back to Option A and read the manga. There's significantly less filler padding and no chance of a skipped story arc.

Like Yu-Gi-Oh and many others, that's a classic way to pad episodes and stall for time. DBZ gets a lot of flak for excessively drawing out episodes, but other shows just do it in different ways. (Course DBZ may well be the worst offender.)

I thought the Superman influence was obvious. Being sent to just before the destruction of his home planet, fighting for good and against others of his kind. (And a possible nod where Superman gets powered up by the sun, and Goku does by the moon.)

There's all kind of influences or references to other series in DBZ. Lots of tech and the Namek/Frieza arc have Star Wars influence, and Androids/Cell had Terminator.

I haven't played any GTA games since San Andreas. But I replaced my broken Xbox 360 recently and found a copy of the game for $8 (at Family Dollar, if anyone's interested), so I jumped on it.

Playing online is the last thing on my mind right now, but the game is still blowing me away; it's amazing how it looks and feels exactly like the GTA games of my memory (and bonus points for also being set in San Andreas), but with more features and better graphics than ever. I could lose hours just dicking around the map.

Well most series aren't meta enough to use the term superhero. Most of the people who fight for good would just be called "the good guys." But the likes of Sailor Moon, the Z Fighters, and Team Urameshi would fall under the category if they were made in America. Heck, Goku's origin story was directly inspired by Superman.

than seeing an online review for something you like that is extremely biased and uninformed, that people actually found "helpful."

Like, having a dumbass opinion is fine if you keep it to yourself. But when you try to pass it off as fact and spread it to other people, you're doing more harm than good.
