Unbalance did start to go downhill, but it was closer to the end; it was really good for a really long time. Anyway, they said it was crap from the beginning.

I haven't actually read much by the others to be honest, although many of them I intend to. I did like the Suzuka anime; I don't know how different the manga is.

That was terrible, in all the right ways.

I hate coming across large groups of people with opinions so terrible that you feel dumber just from being exposed to them. I was reading a reddit thread on Domestic na Kanojo, and nearly everyone was shitting on it for ridiculous reasons. Some straight up factually incorrect, which makes me think they weren't even talking about the same series (they mentioned a dumb gyaru when there's nothing close to a gyaru in the series).

They badmouthed more or less everything by Kei Sasuga, Seo Kouji, and Im Dal Young - at which point I confirmed their opinions were shit, because Unbalance x Unbalance is a freaking masterpiece (before the hiatus, at least).

Been catching up on Seven Deadly Sins manga. I gotta say I've never been a fan of Gowther, the way he messes with people's heads with no hesitation or remorse. But I always did kind of like Derriere. She never seemed particularly evil or nasty, especially when she was avenging the ruthless slaughter of demon children. So I'm glad to see more depth there.

I'm trying not to catch up on Academia because I don't want to be waiting for weekly chapters, but I'm pretty close behind. Things seem to be going in strange directions after the Yakuza/Rescue Eri arc.

He seems to get a lot of hate; at first I thought it was one of those "love to hate him" things, but a lot of people really don't like him at all. I mean, he is kind of a pessimistic asshole, but he tries his best. And he's a Man of Culture!

I thought about it that way. It's possible, but not particularly likely that so many studios would agree to neuter their work just in an effort to bring more attention to the source material. If they think it's good enough for an anime adaptation, then with enough effort a faithful adaptation could be wildly successful.

Oh snap again. I just found out one of my favorite manga, Domestic na Kanojo, is getting an anime. I mentioned it before; boy loves his teacher but is friendzoned, he goes to a mixer to try to get over her, meets a girl who asks him to have sex with her out of pure curiosity. Then later his father suddenly announces he's getting remarried, and he's now step siblings with the girl he slept with - and his teacher.

On one hand I'm ecstatic, but on the other I have concerns. With the way things are going lately, it's likely to be only one season, which is nowhere near enough time to do the series justice. It's not just about the romance; there's a great deal of slice of life and coming of age. It's got a very rich cast of side characters, and plenty of character development all around in many different areas (it actually goes pretty in depth about the MC's aspiration to be a writer).

It's a really really good series, and cutting it down and packing it into one season is just taking a giant steaming dump on it.

I was looking at this manga called Un-Magical Girl recently, where a magical girl from some anime showed up in the real world and had trouble adjusting. There was one point where she went to Akiba and found out about doujinshi, and was subsequently depressed for the next few days.

Aw man, I'm doing the thing again, this time with Academia. Some series I get too attached to the characters in a series, and as a side effect it doesn't feel right when I try to lewd them. The Persona crew, Danganronpa, and now Academia.

Shame too, because it's got some top tier girls. I really like pretty much all of them.

I'm getting tired of shows that don't bother to adapt the whole source material. Especially if they don't even try to make up an ending and wind up with no closure at all; at least if they make their own ending then they're actually making an effort. I should have guessed by the length of the manga, but the two shows I'm watching right now, Btooom and After the Rain, are just one season long so they can't cover the whole story.

It's not a new thing at all, but it seems to be happening more often recently.

Once I get Shenmue III and Kingdom Hearts III, there won't be any particular games I'll be anticipating at all. Everything I want will be either already released, or canceled. *places flower on Mega Man Legends 3's grave*

I really think I might hang it up at that point, and focus on my huge backlog from then on.

I just finished reading Uwagaki. I have to admit, it was fantastically written. Even with the unrealistic premise, the characters all felt natural and didn't fall into any common clichs of the genre, and despite being in competition they didn't even bear any ill will toward one another. Solid pacing up until the end, which felt just a little rushed and could have used just one more chapter to build up to the end.

Also, while I was wondering how "Again!!" suddenly got an English release despite not being relevant or particularly popular, I noticed another series by the same author also got localized; Moteki. It's about a guy just turning 30 who has had very little luck with women, who suddenly seems to fall somewhat into a period of "moteki," increased romantic popularity, when he's contacted randomly from several women from his past. Despite what it sounds like it's not a typical harem; it's very realistic and character-focused. The protagonist is also not as lame or clichd as you'd expect of the premise; he has ups and downs and makes real effort, but never seems to be able to seal the deal even during his moteki. Highly recommended; I just started reading and I'm hooked.

Yep. That and it just wasn't really my thing; the plot was a little too out there for my taste. I watched the whole show but can't really say I particularly enjoyed it.

No matter what's going on in your life, there's a point where you have to just say "fuck it" and go save the world because that's your freaking job. Felt like Shinji ran away every other episode.

That's really cool about Horikoshi. I doubt many creators get to see just how much of an impact their work has to people overseas.

I've been watching Btooom and After the Rain. Like them both, especially the latter. In several ways I can relate to both characters; in fact for a while when I started working at this job, I kind of had a thing for my manager. It was only an eight year difference and I never acted on it, but the feeling mostly faded away over time.

This is really the best advice here. I had a somewhat similar situation, with a girl I was stuck on for a few years. We were friends and I never got anywhere with her (mainly because she was married), but even after we lost touch I kept thinking of her for a while. Eventually I had to realize that I was building the situation up in my head, there was nothing that could be done now, and all I could do was move on and work on myself.

The best thing to do when you feel like shit, is to do something to improve yourself or give back to society so that you're not shit. Whether it's something big or small, do something so you can say that you're interesting and that you have something to offer.

One time I was driving around with my niece listening to the radio, and it was so hot that the DJ actually baked cookies in their car, and invited everyone nearby to come get some. We were like a block away from the station so we did; they were actually fully cooked.
