I started reading RRR and really like it. It's about a lazy half assed musician in his late twenties; he gets one last shot at making it, and just when he decides to get serious about his career, fate throws a few curve balls at him and he winds up on the path to becoming a boxer.

It's pretty fun and lighthearted; kind of an underdog/coming of age combo since washed up and past his prime. It's got very little subtlety either, but that's part of its charm.

Finished reading Evergreen recently. I really liked it; no surprise since it's from the same author as Tora Dora and Golden Time. Good colorful characters, and decent plot.

I could tell there would be some kind of twist coming since there was a lot of foreshadowing in the beginning, but thankfully it didn't get too dark. If it did it would have wrecked the light mood it'd had for the whole series up until then.

It would make a great anime if they added a bit of padding; I don't think twenty chapters would last very long on its own.

I mentioned it before, but that's one problem with manga that anime usually doesn't have to deal with. You'll find a lot of manga that haven't been updated since 2015, and that's just the end of the road for you.

Watched the 6 eps of darwins game that are out. It's pretty ok. I enjoy the death/survival game genre. Darwin's game isn't the best or the worst. If you like the genre, you'll probably like the anime, if you don't, I doubt it'll change your mind.

I think the manga may be more enjoyable, because the art is really good, and the translator takes a few liberties. Like one character's lie detecting sigil was dubbed "Bullshit Detector." And one scene where it's used, there's a little "Bullshit Detected" caption above their head.

Most of the fanfics I ever read were lemons (I don't even know if they still use that term), or occasionally comedies. Other than that, there was this cool Detective Conan one where Conan lost his memory (which would naturally cause a lot of confusion, being a genius in an 8 year old's body), and a really good Harry Potter conclusion before The Deathly Hallows came out.

Looks like Black Lightning is is finally heating up with the Markovians.

And it's crazy how the show that should have been most affected by the Crisis seems to be one of the least affected. The majority of The Flash hinged on the multiverse and the Crisis, and a lot of the ramifications of this new world have been glossed over.

Made a big decision today. I retired from being a fanficcer after twenty years. Not easy to do, but I think it will be better for me in the long run. I mean, I'll keep writing, since I'm not about to stop doing that, but I've got to get out of that space. It's so toxic now that it's impossible to get anything done.

It's cool that you did it for so long. Did you stick mainly to a few series or a little bit of anything?

I dabbled very lightly in it for a while, but gave up since being a perfectionist and having little talent is a terrible combo.

I did date a single mother. Still married to her a decade later, and my (step)daughters more or less tolerate my existence, especially now that one of them has a kid of her own. But! Dating a single parent is a big leap that not everybody can do.

It's definitely not something to ever be taken lightly. You have to understand going in that their child is their number one priority at all times. And the child shouldn't be "tolerated," which was dude's first mistake, but happily accepted into your life.

Maybe it's because I'm around the age where I should have or be starting a family, but I'm not opposed to it in theory. Of course theory and practice are two different beasts.

I started reading "Kimi no Okasan o Boku ni Kudasai," about a part timer in his early twenties who likes an older coworker, a single mother. He goes in cocky, saying he'd make her happy and her child "doesn't matter" to him, but his bubble is quickly burst by the reality of her life, what she needs, and that she probably doesn't even have room in her life for dating. There's only a few chapters out, but it's nice.

Was reading up on all the changes 4Kids made to Yu-Gi-Oh, and it was even bigger than I thought. I knew they changed some cases from dying to going to the Shadow Realm, but I didn't realize the entire concept of the Shadow Realm was totally made up by 4Kids.

They also cut out the one scene where Yugi's mom pops up, which irks me for some reason.

Lately I kind of feel like anime can't hold my interest as well as manga can, even for the same subject matter. Not really sure why. But I feel like I could keep going on any manga I'm reading but can just get through one episode of a show at a time.

Wasn't expecting one more cameo; especially not that one. A lot of people were speculating that they'd get rid of Barry when the Justice League movie came about, so seeing the two Flashes together was totally unexpected.

I guess I should thank them for making the decision easy for me. The idea of quitting has been in the back of my head for a while, but it's hard to just give up on something like this, that has no real end.
