Every AC fan Ive talked to seems to understand why I gave up the series while playing 3 and tells me its the worst in the series.

Those AC fans are usually just Ezio fans. 3 has the best mechanics and missions, last good AC before it became a grindfest.

The original ones were basically the exact same game in terms of level design. They kinda went their own ways but even the modern 3D ones are still pretty close.

That's why I like the term exploration action. It encapsulates what's great about those series compared to other action adventures. Easily my fav genre for that reason.

Metroidvania was never meant to be a genre. It's just SOTN, which is a Metroid-like Castlevania. Ever since then it's been used as a much more confusing synonym of Metroid-like, where you have to know it's not actually referring to Castlevania games, most of which aren't Metroid-like. But Metroid-like itself is fine and useful.

All the game-like genres are fine tbh. Rogue-like got stretched to mean any game where you die and restart, but that's ok since that's a core part of Rogue. Games on a grid like Necrodancer are much more Rogue-like, but that doesn't mean you can't describe Hades with it.

Souls-like is similar. It's stretched to apply to anything that has a bonfire, or a dodge roll, or item descriptions with lore, but you can't deny those are all Souls-like things.

The problem is people still think games can only have 1 genre. Let's just call those people dumb and move on.

Easily oranges if you include mandarins. Non-mandarin ones are terrible though.

Apples are great occasionally, but it's so easy to get sick of them during apple picking season. Though I like how they always come out with new varieties as if they're candy or something.

I think you do get a Hammer upgrade on your first couple screens there, which helps a lot.

Willem Dafoe crushed the movie for sure. I actually like Jamie Foxx a lot. He had really cheesy lines but delivered them perfectly. Zendaya was pretty great too.

Andrew > Holland > Tobey for the spideys. Tobey didn't age too well here. His spidey doesn't really fit in with this new gen Z style. The stuff about his webbing was great tho.

Also they spent 3 movies to reset him to square 0? So they can make another trilogy? Pretty disheartening.

Also the trailers had him in Uncharted which wasn't a good look. The movie copies entire scenes from the game but the CG is somehow worse?

Just saw it, was really surprisingly bland. Everything good in it was character related, the plot was basically a total waste. Really bad use of the crossovers. Bad use of Dr Strange too. Felt like you could totally skip it.

But yeah totally agree that finale turned the game from 9ish to 11. Not just the emotion, but the twist in the "are robots human" philosophy made the whole game more powerful too.
