I'm not sure why this old story is being brought up again, but I still find it unnerving. The officers thought it was illegal porn, but nobody actually bothered finding out for sure. I have a sneaking suspicion that the genuine article doesn't try to pass itself off as a legal, professional production. And if they genuinely felt certain it was illegal, the DVD wasn't handed off to some other agency to help track down any victims who would have quickly identified the actress as an adult? What about the prosecution? The judge? How did the case not get tossed out after the defense pointed out the actress was a well known legal porn star? I mean, that must not have worked or they wouldn't have needed to fly in the lady herself.

A couple of years ago, I saw an article on a tech news site saying that the FBI was using some kind of automated software to find alleged pedophiles. In any case where the defense demanded to know what the software was doing, the FBI dropped charges. And then even further back, back in the day of people downloading lots of porn, the FBI was sticking illegal material in otherwise legal downloads so that they could arrest more people and meet quotas.

Our justice system could use a bit of an overhaul.

I think my favorite part of the article was the fact that, unlike most "news" articles on Gamespot, that one had no comment section open. I don't care much for "news" articles that talk down to their readers and tell them what truth is either. I think Gina Carano's tweets range from cringe to abhorrent, but the article was still shit.

I've never understood this. You need to add 5 to 10 years to most characters to get what age they should be for how they look and act. As a kid, I never empathized strongly with characters based on their ages. And even if a lot of the younger audieces do empathize strongly with characters their own age, most of those characters still look and act like adults so...

The only genre that I'll give a pass to is the high school romance/comedy. i don't watch many myself, but just like American sitcoms, you do get some free elements to use from that setting in the way of a rigid schedule and large shared space for a variety of characters to interact in.

The suggestion of setting Persona in college rather than high school is common, and I think it would be neat. But I feel like it would end up being a bit more like Yakuza with the additional freedom the environment would provide.

If police can just enter your home without a warrant and just gather whatever evidence they want, then this is a police state pure and simple. What's gonna stop them from planting cocaine and pretending that they found it in your home?
The same thing that stops them from planting cocaine in your vehicle during a routine stop: nothing. The idea is that here cops can take such actions without a warrant for community safety. Like if an officer hears (or claims to hear) someone screaming for help, they can enter a house without a warrant. In this case, the wife did give them permission to enter, but it was negated by the lies they told.

Is it even possible that they would rule in the police's favor here in any kind of general way? Several of the Court's liberal Justices don't tend to favor expanding police powers, and I can't imagine the conservative ones will be in any way in favor of curtailing gun rights. If it were something else like drugs or porn, we might be in trouble. But entering a home without a warrant to seize guns? Either it will be a broad "no" or a very narrow one-time "yes" with lots of wiggle room.

The Walking Dead games are the best things in the Walking Dead universe. True, your choices don't lead to a completely different outcome (how could they given the resources that would be involved?) but I never felt like I wasn't involved in shaping the narrative. The controls are a bit clunky and some of the stuff that happens later on angered me a fair bit, but it was just a great experience overall.

Some of the messaging out there said $1400, and some said $2000. I don't have a link handy, but I saw a lot of the $2000 messaging. It's fine if you didn't and are surprised by the "confusion", but there is a reason people were thinking $2000. Honestly, it needs to be $2000 or more. A ton of Americans are struggling right now in no small part because of the government's complete inability to handle the pandemic properly. American citizens were given $600 almost as an afterthought in the giant relief/spending bill and plenty of people are pissed off about that. Politically and practically, the Democrats need to make good on their promise of helping voters monetarily. Plenty of people saw $2000 and that's what they are expecting. It isn't just about paying rent, it is about jump starting the economy.

I can see some delay in getting the money out because of the coming trial in the Senate, but it needs to happen soon.

I have an online friend that I chat and game with sometimes. We have some of the same hobbies, and they've been solidly OK when I needed advice or someone to talk to. I don't know them in real life and the only personal information I've shared is my first name. They were open from the start about having mental health issues and that some people find them hard to talk to. I think the number of people willingly subjecting themselves to this person might actually be zero.

Ordinary conversations with this person are draining. Even when talking about books or TV shows, it's like we are actually having an argument where they are dismissive and angry. Eventually, every conversation turns to themselves, and are those are something special. Every account of their life is overly dramatic, like something from a TV show. Sometimes they want to talk about old memories that are troubling them, and what they describe is completely over the top with strong elements of delusional fantasy. When questioned about the things that can't possibly be real, they become angry and defensive. In these cases, they don't seem to realize they are delusional. All the stories told are sad ones, and they are always the victim in each and every one.

Sometimes they make up horrible stories about themselves that involve something like abuse. These stories contain some nugget of "truth", like where it happened, but then everything else is made up for their amusement, which they later admit after they've wrung me out of sympathy and concern. I was told I couldn't take a joke. Sometimes they'll take something I've said I'm worried about and try and get under my skin. It often won't make logical sense and will always be mean, and will go on until they get a rise out of me. I'm told I can't take a joke and that they are trying to help me with psychological issues.

I've tried cutting this person off before and establishing healthy boundaries, and for a while it worked. And then a while back they started talking about dying in a passive aggressive way because of some kind of problem. Every time they talk about the problem, the details are a little different. It seems to involve money for sure. And maybe somebody coming to collect? I think they mentioned getting an old time dueling pistol or something ready just in case.

I want off this ride, but now I feel stuck. I offered the standard advice about calling a hotline if they felt like hurting themselves or others. As far as I'm concerned, they may as well have told me they just finished pulling Excalibur out of a couch cushion and were ready to die in glorious battle against a Demon Lord that would be swinging by for noon tea to collect drug money. But if they are in a dark place, maybe me leaving might push them over the edge. This could also all be intentionally made up for dark drama and their personal amusement. I'm also concerned a little about cyber stalking. I don't want to have to delete my main gaming account and make a new one just to make a clean getaway.

I know it was stupid to try and be friends with someone this troubled (their psychologist allegedly let them go and refused to refer them elsewhere because they are so toxic), and it was twice as stupid to try again. But I'm stuck with my naive choices and need to make better ones. What would you guys suggest? If anyone would like to message me instead of posting here, go for it. I'll take this topic down after a while because it's kind of embarrassing.

Sorry for the long post but I think this situation is sufficiently unique as to warrant it. And thanks for the replies!
