Restricting further advancement of guns to the public, restricting sales to mentally ill or deficient, restricting certain purchases of certain types of goods, or things of that nature wouldn't be impeding imo. But actually physically taking away people's guns would. I'm not saying any rational agent is even putting forth that idea, but the pro gun rights activists sure as hell act like they are. If they drop red ammo on the floor shoot them with it when they're dipping. They'll almost always stop and try to fight back.
