Anjanath is probably the hardest hitting monster at that point in the game, if you're not acquainted with his moveset you should avoid being by his head, as the hitboxes for his rush attacks are huge. Best bet is right behind his legs so you can take advantage of his belly and tail being within reach, and if you're in front of him when he does the triple rush then run away and dodge so you do the long animation dive with superarmor.

That said in terms of difficulty he's more representative of the later monsters as opposed to the early pushovers like Great Jagras and Barroth.

It's not for everyone. Play a game you enjoy. Don't try to force yourself into an experience that isn't doing it for you.

I just dont want to not give MHW a fair shake because I hated dark souls at first and now Im a big fan. Thankfully I got this game with trade in credit from some old crap I had lying around

i tried the andranath again last night, got my ass kicked again, but the water bow helped. i called an SOS and received "help" from a bunch of guys that also died a lot too.

guess i need to grind more armor to beat this guy? ugh. nothing about this is intuitive. i checked my monster guide and it's empty lol

now i am fighting the Anjanath. Figured I'd try out the bow.

This fucking boss keeps killing me in one hit. MHW does an absolutely horrible job at prepping you for this fight because everything until now has been stupidly easy and now i have to waste time sitting online googling how mechanics work. can't SOS either because the online servers for this game are trash.

ugh

The game ramps up in difficulty as you progress, as it should. You can dampen the difficulty curve by using the mechanics the game has taught you such as improving your armor or using some consumables that improve your stats.

Starting with anjanath, running up to monster and hitting them randomly until they stop you, using a potion, and repeating the process will no longer work. You will have to learn the fight and adapt accordingly. For some people, this is the core of the game and what makes it fun. For others, it will be what turns them off from the game because they can't faceroll anymore because it's too hard for them.

Also, using MP as a crutch will be a detriment to the experience. If you can't beat a monster then try again until you can. If you avoid all difficult encounters through online you will never feel accomplished.

The first time I attempted the Anjanath (during his actual mission) I made the mistake of shooing an SOS. It's nice to have others distracting him but I found that most of the players just weren't very good and kept dying.

I then crafted a full set of Tobi armor and upgraded to a water bow. It was still a struggle but I managed to finally beat him solo with just one cart. He really feels like a damage sponge compared to most of the other monsters leading up to the fight.

Sword and shield is nooby but if you're good with it who cares? I do recommend trying the other blades. Switchaxe is my main now and I came from being a dedicated dual blade user.

I'd honestly respect the sword and shield, only because I've never seen a single user with it in my 100+ hours of play.

The dual blades are the noob weapon.

You must be thinking of longsword, which 20% of the playerbase uses. SnS is one of the least popular weapons in the game.

If there's nothing on Anjanath in the research then you need to collect the stuff the scoutflies lead you too like Mucus and such, that's one way to level it without defeating it and also track it of course.

Also, learn the main moves people use with a Hammer and then bash it's head in, it's a huge target and being stunned just gives even more time to point it to oblivion. If you're really having trouble still then let it retreat to Kadachi's nest and watch it get roasted by another monster.

Nooby doesn't mean the most uses. Pretty sure the Charge Blade is up there and that's because it's legitimately the best weapon in the game, and not nooby. S&s is just really easy to learn and basically has no complex mechanics.
