Actually you might be surprised to hear that this is his normal style of posting. The past few weeks have been the exception to his style.

I understand in believing in a god. Makes life seem easier, things are safe. I don't understand why people would believe in the Abrahamic god though. Dude is a fucking ass.

God represents the ideal, the higher standard of being and living meaningfully with purpose, and the authority to be held accountable to that standard.

Without a God, the world would be chaos. Most believe there is a long term consequence for their actions while alive, and it keeps them in line and from doing things that are "immoral" out of a false fear of an eternity of suffering. As long as this blind fear exists, a lot of crime, rape, murder will be kept at a low rate. If no religion or God existed in the minds of these people what keeps them from doing evil things before they die?

It's population control, and even though to some it's an entirely irrational, ridiculous concept, it keeps most thinking they have to do good while they are here for the eternity of their non-existent soul.

Historically speaking, life sucked for the most part. The idea of paradise waiting after a life of suffering seems nice.

In our modern world, it's more of a family thing.

But it works. It's a big contributor to civilization remaining civil. While I myself will never believe in a God or follow a religion, I would never not support it's existence because it keeps so many people in check and gives them purpose. As long as that is there, they will do their best to be kind to others and live a "moral" life.

You are wrong. The existence of religion does more harm than good. Sure it might stop a few murders because of the threat of hell, but it also creates shit like ISIS which is far worse.

The world is chaos in most places and has been in 99.9% of human history. We have the luxury of having been born in the right place at the right time.

I think if heaven/hell could be 100% disproven roughly the same percentage of people would still act in a morally acceptable manner. Existing punishments and emotional intelligence would be enough for people not to act out reprehensibly. I think there is enough cataloged human history that we can show what happens if we act immoral.

A very small terrorist organization doesn't represent an entire religion. To generalize ISIS toward the entire Islamic religion is beyond ignorant. Comparing the numbers of ISIS against the rest of the world that follows Islamic religion is a tiny fraction of a thousandth of a percentage. That's an unfair rationale.

Your post is stupid and dodges my point. If religion didnt exist, the twin towers would be standing and there would be far fewer beheaddings in the world. This isnt about Islam. The crusades were just as fucked up. All religion is a plague.

Religion does not create nor mandate inherent morals. Without religion we would live in a relative harmony and the only thing disrupting that harmony would be politics.
