I think I would describe them as blue even if it was the case that through the skin the color I was actually seeing was technically greenish. The fact that I'm seeing it through my skin means that the true color is a lot different than what I'm actually seeing.

do endings count? I would probably say the FF6 ending is one of the single best 2D "cutscenes" I know of

some others might be the SMW ending, or the Secret of Mana ending

I really REALLY need to try out Rimworld, I bought it ages ago (and I'm in the game as a kickstarter) and I only put like an hour into it...

Dwarf Fortress is my game though, can't wait for the Steam release.

RimWorld is like a DF clone to some degree, I think. there are also some similar newer games as well, though they are in "early access", but are playable in their current states:

No. The type of software engineering I do does not translate to gaming at all. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to create a game engine (which is the only part I'd actually have any interest with) and I'm not artistically talented.

not like 3d gaming just try to do something fun in 2d (although you'll have to setup a 2d projection in 3d which is annoying). aim for like atari or NES quality at most, at least in terms of graphics. in terms of gameplay, if you know how to program there's almost no end to the kinds of things you can do.

it's true that it doesn't map 1-1 with writing business applications but it's still good practice and experience, and in particular, working on projects that are just at or slightly beyond your ability to keep under control is an excellent way to improve the size of projects that you can handle.

you could probably do that in Minecraft, but I'm not sure why you would want to. get a hobby or a degree or something instead.

couple of ones I can think of maybe from Blizzard games

this might only barely count, but a trick you can use in Warcraft 3 that I've never seen anyone else but myself use is that if you use the move command directly (by pressing M) you can "move" on top of an enemy hero. this has a different effect than right clicking on the hero, which would be an attack command. if you do this right, your units will very quickly surround and trap the enemy hero. it only takes like 8-10 or so (maybe 6? can't remember) small units to do this. you can then attack the hero and it won't be able to move.

another one is distract in WoW (as a rogue). extremely useful in the right situation, I particularly use it in Warsong Gulch (Capture the Flag). it's supposed to force players to change their facing direction towards the distraction to help you get a backstab or to stealth by them, but it also stops them from moving altogether and most people have no idea how to react when their movement stops, so it's almost like a ranged stun attack and is super useful when chasing the enemy flag carrier group. for example, you can "distract" everyone but the flag carrier, who will all stop (allowing your team mates to engage them), but the carrier won't, and with your sprint you can catch up to the carrier who will now be relatively defenseless and fight him 1v1. (this all takes place VERY quickly and there's no end to the variations and scenarios where it can come in handy.)

for the latter, the spells in D&D I find are some of the most creative in any setting. reading about almost any spell is interesting by itself. magic in many games is just throwing around varying degrees of elemental damage, but in D&D it's so much more interesting. here's a couple examples:

Nature's Beauty (Illusion/Phantasm)

When this spell is cast, the caster appears to undergo a remarkable transformation. The caster becomes the very ideal of beauty; for a male this is usually a nymph; for a female, the image varies. As with a nymph, anyone viewing the disguised character must make a saving throw or die of longing for the denied illusion. Even if the saving throw is successful, hapless viewers of the transformed druid are instantly smitten with permanent blindness.

Imprisonment (Abjuration)

When the Imprisonment spell is cast and the victim is touched, the recipient is entombed in a state of suspended animation in a small sphere beneath the surface of the earth. The victim remains there unless a reverse of this spell, Freedom, is cast. Otherwise, the victim will remain there as long as the earth exists, rather a horrible fate actually. If a Freedom spell is cast in the area where the creature was imprisoned then he will reappear exactly where he was last standing. Dispel magic will not free creatures trapped in this manner. There is no saving throw.

healing usually. healing allows the player's party to survive almost anything, meanwhile most enemy groups don't have much or any healing. when an enemy group does have healing it's extremely frustrating, and usually #1 priority to take out asap.

FYI there is OpenMW on PC which is kind of an independent "remaster".

I think I once hallucinated someone shooting a squirrel off my roof. I thought of it happening (while dozing) and then audibly heard it happen. it gave a cartoonish dying sound.

oh yeah Minecraft is another, though I'm not sure how worth it it is/was. probably somewhere in between worth it and not worth it.

games I've played "too much" that are worth it are Factorio (1500+ hrs), KSP (2250+ hrs), and maybe Morrowind although I don't have a time played figure for it (must be in the many 1000s of hrs)

publisher is still making larger-scale decisions. the dev can't do anything that the publisher doesn't let them do. publisher can make or break a game based on their decision making (usually break). the project itself wouldn't exist without the publisher's say-so. maybe not as important as the dev, but still (often) relevant.

not the same thing, but a couple devices I've recently obtained have the stupidestly bright white LEDs on them. damn things are like spotlights and if you get in front of them it casts an extremely crisp shadow.

problem is: "something having to do with being a pyramid scheme" is a property of pyramid schemes ("specifically who it benefits"). so just because the exception involves a property of the object does not allow you to state that the exception dismisses the rule. (there are words I can add to what you said, such as "necessarily", that could make it work, but I shouldn't have to do that.)

I think the crux of this is: exceptions are not contradictions.

The government is not against it because it's a pyramid scheme. The government is against it because of something else about it having to do with being a pyramid scheme. That is what you should test for to say if the government will be against it or not.
