I got way into the Carpenters. I got a collection of their singles when I was in holidays, and at one point I was playing it front to back every weekend.

It sets the tone because I've been beyond stressed at work, one of my bosses is on holiday and we're running out of stuff to wash before we've packed all the orders. People are getting on my nerves a lot lately - I think I've hit my bullshit limit with this job and it's all downhill from here.

Because of that stress, I recently started drinking again after having a health scare at Christmas. I drank two bottles of gin in one day without even setting out to do so, and it became clear that I had to change my habits or I was probably gonna die sooner rather than later. I made it to Valentines Day, then another two weeks before I properly relapsed. It feels like I'm fighting uphill for things that regular people take for granted, and I'm sick of pretending like I have things under control. So I'm back to binge-drinking for the time being.

I might as well have an outlet. Like I said, if I get banned I get banned.

I'm back from a suspension. The culprit was a very tasteless meme I posted, though I was also warned in the same glut of moderations for saying that "being surprised about [X] is like being surprised at longstanding sexual abuse in the Catholic church". Modding me for being offensive doesn't eliminate all the child rape in the Catholic church and the subsequent cover-up by the Vatican, by the way.

You might be able to tell, but I'm more or less done with fucking around. I genuinely hate to say it, but I think I finally understand the handful of stragglers who keep making alt accounts and coming back for years after it's clear that nobody likes them or wants to see them around on this website. The GameFAQs community - at least, the purely social community that doesn't contribute to the actual function of the GameFAQs site - is an incredibly ugly place that facilitates a negative feedback loop to keep people coming back.

That's not to say that the site is designed that way from the top down, but it is to say that the toxic culture of the website fucks people up in a way that makes them want to keep posting despite the website making them feel worse as a person. I don't like that I'm "coming back", but I acknowledge that I benefit from venting my bile on what is essentially the emotional equivalent of a garbage dump. CE is a flawed and ugly place, and I'm a flawed and ugly person.

Because of my growing disregard for CE, I'm almost certainly going to keep skirting the rules if I think it's funny or because I'm trying to make a point, and it's going to end with a ban. I'm not going to post porn or gore or whatever - my next moderation will probably be to spite some stupid horseshit that I disagree with. Like I still can't believe that "cracker is a slur against white people" is a position that the mod team has taken up, for example. I'm also still extremely discontent about how 9/11 has been used to justify decades of war and bloodshed, and using the memory of the three thousand victims to justify the destabilisation of the middle east is beyond fucked up - so expect me to spit in the face of 9/11 as a hallowed pro-war institution, like the three thousand victims of the WTC terror attacks would want their memory to be evoked in the name of rape and oil.

That's the quality of my posting from now on. You can warn, suspend, purg or ban me now, because the feeling I have about CE can barely be summed up by calling it "contempt" and I'm gonna get real fucking spicy about it.

So yeah, that's me saying that against my better judgement, I'm back on CE and I'm fully expecting to lose this account in the long run. When that happens, it'll probably be the only thing me and darkprince45 will ever have in common.

I'll admit that I missed some vital context to that conversation that led to a wild leap of logic on my end. That being said, your assertion that "sacrifices must be made" in a prolonged conflict to end this practice is naive at best when every other scandal they've tackled during the entire Activision era has been dealt with through mass-firing and doubling down. All that "sacrificing" more people will do is cause more people to lose their jobs.

This isn't a policy that will change by urging others to throw themselves into the meat grinder. This is a problem that has to be addressed now, at the first firing. Once this becomes a habit, the first firing becomes a precedent and every subsequent firing has justification behind it. But get them to reverse the first firing and revise their policy and they're fucked.

The Brain of Morbius doesn't cause any issues if you regard the faces the we see as Morbius's. I'm pretty sure that was the accepted theory by fans for decades and didn't trouble anyone. But Chibnall must have seen the episode when he was a kid and it bothered him so much that he grew up wanting to write an explanation for a 2 second cameo.

The theory was long-standing in the Doctor Who fandom. That's not to say that it HAD to have been this way, but it does say that there's more precedent than one mega-nerd using the show to write fanfiction about his personal fan theory.

The Rules

Starting from February 4th (or 5th in my case), we watch one movie on this list every Saturday. The current plan is to watch them in the order listed. The thread acts as a sort of bookclub, where we discuss each movie. How'd you like it, and what did you like or not like?

It doesn't strictly have to be on the day, but sooner would be preferable to later. If this does well, I have enough rejects from the initial list to either keep the marathon going, or to make another list in the future.

I stopped drinking recently, so all I tend to do on the weekend is play Runescape and sleep. I've been meaning to watch more movies that interest me, and I thought roping other people into a whole mixed bag would be fun for me and funny to experience.

I've made a list of eight movies. Some of them are critically acclaimed and hailed as classics, others are diamonds in the rough and schlocky guilty pleasures (that I've seen before, and which I want to share with the world). Two of them are actual flaming garbage.

I haven't seen most of these movies, so here's a basic summary of each of them to the best of my knowledge.

Steel Magnolias: this movie stars a dynamite cast of famous women, including Dolly Parton. The movie is renowned for a monologue near the end, and my understanding is that the movie is like an especially intense play with the actresses playing to the back row.

Without a Paddle: The lawyer from Idiocracy, an NFT owner and Shaggy from Scooby Doo set off on an adventure to find DB Cooper's treasure. Straight-to-DVD fodder from the early/mid 00's, but I remember liking this movie a lot when I was younger.

It's Pat: a movie based on an SNL skit series. The main character is Pat, an androgynous character whose whole schtick is that no-one can tell if they're a man or a woman and they keep worming their way out of disclosing their gender to the throngs of people who are curious to know. Imagine that premise as a skit, four to six minutes long of Pat subverting people's attempts at figuring out their gender in a variety of ways. Now imagine a feature length movie consisting of just that. Never seen it, immensely curious to see how badly it crashes and burns.

Being John Malkovich: my understanding is that it's this whole weird meta-narrative about celebrity, filled with absurdist concepts like shrinking down and walking through a doorway into another person's head. John Malkovich plays John Malkovich, and someone throws a beer can at his head.

Human Traffic: a late 90's film about the club culture of the day, chronicling the night of four or five friends interspersed with skits and vignettes. It's apparently in the same sort of category as 24-Hour Party People starring Steve Coogan. I have this on DVD, haven't seen it in ages. Features a ton of contemporary club bangers from the time.

Bigfoot's Wild Weekend: allegedly a boner comedy/low-budget horror movie starring Bigfoot. Nudity may be involved. Unquestionably trash.

White Palace: James Spader is an up-and-coming businessman in his mid-twenties, and he's causing a fuss about his burger being late from what is ostensibly a White Castle. Susan Sarandon is a server in her forties who puts up with him being an ass, and apparently enough sparks fly that they become romantically involved. Age-gap romance between a high-strung young man and a freewheeling older woman, played by James Spader and Susan Sarandon. Nuff said.

The Graduate: a classic movie which allegedly captures the voice of a generation beginning to lose its way, underscored by an uncharacteristic folk soundtrack courtesy of Simon and Garfunkel. Everyone knows how this one ends.

I do remember seeing it for years, and I never saw outright vitriol or trolling about it until now. I think I'm just used to big AAA games that aren't absolutely fucking savaged from day one being generally well-regarded. mb guys

It just seems really dumb to me. I think the bigger cause for concern are the PC specs, where you're looking at just shy of 64 gigs of RAM to run the game in Ultra. The recommended PC settings aren't even for 60fps, it's 1440p and 30fps. But as far as I can tell, that's not what the consternation is about.

Well, from what I can tell, there was a recall of gas stoves belonging to a particular brand. This turned into "gas stoves of all brands are being taken away", which turned into "DON'T TAKE OUR STOVES!!!".

Oh yeah for sure. World of Final Fantasy is a 10/10 port, and it's a really funny and enjoyable RPG experience. Might be the only monster-raising RPG I've enjoyed outside of Pokemon.

A day or two ago I clicked on one about Back to the Future, where Doc turns out to be a racist because Marty's kid is going to marry a black man and he wants to prevent it.
