I thought they did a great job making Bowser look menacing, Keegan Michael-Key made for an okay Toad, it looks like Chris Pratt is going for a combination of Charles Martinet Mario and Brooklyn Mario and the movie is fucking gorgeous. That battleship at the start looked fantastic.

The thing about Illumination is that despite somewhat rightfully being mocked for the Minions and their lolrandum humor, they have made some pretty decent movies since the nadir of their output. I saw the first Sing movie when I was working at a cinema, and despite the marketing making it out to be a movie I would absolutely fucking hate, Sing was really good - I had to watch it like six times that summer, and I honestly really enjoyed it each time. Apparently Sing 2 is just as good, so I might have to seek it out.

The Mario movie looks gorgeous, even if Mario is a bit gonky. Bowser looks fantastic. The voicework is still up in the air, but the visuals are really up there and I think the movie is going to resonate with audiences because they're going to play it mostly straight.

Miyamoto is heavily involved and the trailer makes it look really true to the text of Mario Bros. I'm really excited to see this movie. Worst case scenario, it's a 5/10. Best case scenario imo, it's an 8.5/10.

This is what I meant by decriminalise on top of legalise. I wasn't expecting it to actually happen, but I'm really happy it did.

Hollywood has been trying to rekindle the same chemistry they had with the original 90s Addams Family flick for a while now and still failing miserably. Not even the sequel matched it.

The casting of Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Chistopher Lloyd had an eerie almost paranormal synch with their given roles. They were great choices and made their scenes memorable. Raul Julia will always be top Gomez to me because it was like he actually wanted to be as freaky as the character. No shade towards the guys stepping up behind him, they got a tough act to follow.

I wanna see the Tim Curry one. I'm sure it doesn't live up to the hype, but I grew up on the 60's and 90's shows intermittently and I wanna see how he does.

I feel somewhat bad for him. He's a scumbag, sure, but dying within the same month of your own deceased pet is an incredibly sad way to go.

I've heard about some fucked up shit about disabled people though, how if they get married they lose their benefits. Weird how it works in reverse for them, they get fucked in the ass if they do get married. Good for them if they marry a doctor or pharmaceutical rep, but usually when they fall in love and want to get married, they have to go under their partner's salary whether it can support them both or not.

Coldplay is the epitome of "singles band" to me. I love The Scientist, Clocks, Fix You and Yellow. The song TC mentions is pretty good too. But outside of those singles in those eras, I don't like them.

Hymn for the Weekend and beyond is garbage. Haven't enjoyed a new Coldplay song in ten years. I'll go back to those other songs I mentioned in a heartbeat - there's a great Garden of Words AMV set to The Scientist - but Hymn onwards is some of my least favourite pop music of its era and that trend has continued on to today.

Fandom is trash. Thankfully these boards are already trash, so I'm mentally prepared for anything they do.

I've more or less come to terms with CE going away. I have my GameFAQs friends and my discord groups, it'll suck not having something to scroll through but I've made my peace with it.

My concerns are with the FAQs, questions and boxart.

FAQs and boxart mainly. Questions is a tall order, and the boards are more or less impossible to chronicle outside of The Website that Shall Not be Named.

Like it's a kneejerk reaction on my part, I know, but honestly fuck Fandom.

Like if anyone has any concern about what's about to happen to GameFAQs, I think now is the best time to start backing up FAQs and compiling them. If the situation gets dire, it might make sense to upload them to Archive of our Own - marking them properly as FAQs and not as fanfiction. With that website being an independent archive of fandom content with a stated goal of preservation, it could prove to be something of an ark unless a better solution is found.

On one hand, fuck Fandom well and truly. It's a dogshit company which has almost completely fucked over the concept of the fan wiki through the monetisation of Wikia and forcing unavoidable clickbait through the use of auto-running video and multiple pop-up ads on every one of their pages. It is genuinely a bad fucking time to hear that these vultures are expanding their horseshit reign over internet content to sites like GameFAQs and Metacritic, the latter of which is ripe for the sort of miserable bloat Fandom is known for.

On the other hand - and now that I'm saying it, I'm honestly not even that convinced - it could go down like Tumblr's woes over the years. Tumblr got bought by Yahoo for over a billion dollars - when it got sold next, it was sold off for just over a million. That entire website was a vacuous waste of a billion dollars that Yahoo was never able to recoup. Things weren't perfect, but until the 2017 porn ban, things were relatively unchanged outside of small tweaks. This big sweeping fear of corporate meddling stripping the soul out of Tumblr never really came to pass, at least not until the porn ban led to a significant exodus. Now Tumblr is owned by Automattic, and it has genuinely been getting better for the past year or two.

In an ideal world? This goes down the same way as Tumblr. Fandom faffs about, but this fear of what they will do to GameFAQs will go unwarranted and GameFAQs will lose Fandom a lot of money by virtue of being a hilarious failure. Then a smaller company will snap it up for cheap, fuck around a little bit and keep it around as a legacy platform.

That being said though, Fandom is scum and GameFAQs is absolutely ripe for the picking with their aggressive advertisements and shallow, autoplaying content feeds. I think they will be much more aggressive with GameFAQs than Yahoo ever was to Tumblr, and GameFAQs is about to get used like a fleshlight. It wouldn't surprise me if they broke most of the site's functionality, claimed mass ownership of the content contributed by users over the years and made it difficult/impossible to move the content to another platform, then shut it down two or so years later.

I like to think I'm a pretty upbeat person for the most part, and I want to believe that everything is okay. I've been through a corporate apocalypse on a social media platform of my choice before, which is what makes me want to hope for the best in this scenario.

But Fandom is fucking awful, and I wouldn't put anything past them. Start backing shit up, because I sincerely doubt that the outcome of this is going to be any good.

Also, here's six or seven different endings for a bunch of different characters that you see after walking through a gauntlet of boss fights right at the end of the game. One after the other, in a row, before another series of fights with an extended gameplay switch-up before the final boss and a final overextended series of endings.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is the definition of ending fatigue. Terra, Aqua and Ventus have a pretty good payoff, but every other ending they force in at the end is to check it off of a list and you can 100% tell.
