But I thought you were done with this unhealthy place?

I'm getting there. I've been online for around a year and ten months, so despite the venom I feel for aspects of this place I at least want to maintain this thread for a little while. I know just under 2 years doesn't mean shit when it comes to CE history, but it's still almost 2 years of socialization on an online community that I was fairly active in.

I'd be pretty bummed if I left any other online community, despite not having the warmest reception or fondest memories.

I have a lot of venom I'd love to spill out, but I'm limiting myself to one post.

I joined GameFAQs to get over a really heavy SJW Tumblr phase in my life. The posting was shit at times, but I figured that with the strong moral compass I had, I could cut it with the unironic Trump voters and the hyperbolic assholes. I saw GameFAQs as a place to make some racier jokes, vent with some barbed language that would alienate and drive away my online friends. It helped that there was a vein of legitimately good posts, like chill lifestyle threads and user AMAs about unique life experiences. In my first month, freakofnature30 talked about an experience in his life, and another user opened up about dating his step-sister in a convoluted, twisted matter (they were into each other, then their single parents met and they became step-siblings) - there was good, horizon-expanding posting going on here that got me to stay.

Over time, though, I've felt myself become more venomous and thin-skinned. I feel resentment for certain posters, I'm too involved in politics and shitty trolling. It's affecting me the same way extreme SJW posting affected me as a teenager, and I hate it. Political garbage was already a major problem when I joined, now it seems inescapable. I feel slimy about laughing at Xsquader, putting up with the desperate alcoholic posts that came from Brutal, and reacting earnestly and venomously to shit-flinging fights. I'm already a sad sack of shit for a 22 year old, and posting on GameFAQs is not helping my case - if anything, it's making my habits just the tiniest bit worst.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think CE is a driving factor towards my life being shit, there's a history of events that led to where I am today that have nothing to do with CE. But CE is a factor in my life right now that I think is contributing to an ongoing unhealthiness, and I think separating myself from here is a positive change to make. There's a reason that some of CE's more well-adjusted or well-meaning users have left the board en-masse over the last two years - it's because CE doesn't facilitate a healthy mindset. At least, that's my theory.

And on a tangential note - I tend to respect moderators wherever I go, I've respected CE's mods even as people took steaming shits on their moderation style. Shitty users who make "unfair mods" threads because they wished liberals were enslaved and killed by "real" nazis and shit like that, allegations of bias, etc. You know the types. I was aight towards Error, I liked Lan, I have a divided opinion on Shotgunnova and I'm not fussed about the rest. But I think there's something seriously wrong when the moderation staff lets race-baiting former staff members hang around like a stale fart, or let users with a history of doxxing - years in the past, and as recently as this year - continue to stir up shit and make their forums a cesspool for other users. You have mass-posting hypocrites and professional agitators who run political threads up to hundreds of posts, because they agitate just within the rules to not be punished - despite clearly having an adverse affect on the environment of the forum. I hate blaming the mods, saying that it's them who are wrong and not the users, but I genuinely think that poor moderation has contributed to the toxic atmosphere on here. Bad users are always to blame, but they succeed and run the show because there's no-one active enough to wrangle them.

My favorite users were freakofnature/DezCaughtIt, DocileOrangeCup and the fine folks of the TC Chat days. My least favorite were Brutal, Hoth/his alts/southcoast09, The Admiral - anyone who revelled in unhealthy, shitty behavior, whether it be to offend others or harm/bolster themselves. If you have even a shred of decency in you, I encourage you to escape this nuclear fallout zone and find somewhere with clearer air. You deserve better than this shithole.

It was a fun two years, and I don't wholly regret them. But fuck, I wouldn't do it again.

FF7, for all its jank and dated design, is still a compelling and moving experience. FF9 trumps it in the technical sense, in every single category - but having seen FF7 almost all the way to the end, there is a charm to it that has shown me why the game still resonates with its fanbase to this day.

Honestly, they're both great. 9 is much more ambitious and polished, but 7 is still fucking monumental despite how it looks and how much it's aged.

How dare they criticize Mr. Trump for not going into a natural disaster zone, but give Barack HUSSEIN Obama and his awful wife leeway! #liherals #MAGA

The joke is that Obama wasn't President when Hurricane Katrina hit - Bush was - so using this as a move against Obama's presidency is laughable, and the picture that is supposedly Michelle Obama is actually of Condolleeza Rice. The funniest thing is that this Tweet is from FEBRUARY, months before Harvey came and wrecked Texas' shit - so it was made in a vacuum, not as a response to back up Trump and his reaction to Harvey.

By choice, or because you physically can't?

Because I spent a lot of my childhood staving off tears, because crying was seen as weak shit and stoicness was encouraged. But one time in my teens, all the shit broke loose and I had a cry, and afterwards I felt like a new person - but since then, my body will literally shut down any traces of crying and prevent emotional release when it would be great to cry.

A lack of tears in your life shouldn't be a goal, dude. If you've got 'em, use 'em. Of course, if you're down with not crying and it helps build your character or make you feel good, by all means do what makes you happy.

*majority of responses are negative*

Hoth: "these responses are literally false, and only serve to prove how popular my boy/s actually are. We are the sunshine that shine upon this ass-crack of the internet."

Yep, normal day on CE.

Ah, MrMallard. How many of your delicious karmies have I consumed over the years? The very thought of my existence is enough to send you to your boiling point. The funniest thing is that I never even did or said anything to single you out.

Once again, you have proven your inability to comprehend the situation. The only person who even cared about the results (which were actually slightly better, this time) was JamesX (instigator). The Fam was fed up with his vitriol and we stood up to his aggression with the power of the TOS.

First of all, "over the years"? I made this account two years ago, but I started posting on CE a year and a half ago. And I've grazed double-digit karma loss, so even if you were responsible for every point of Karma I ever lost, you'd only have 20 - 30 of it under your belt. Nothing worth losing sleep over.

Second, I'm not going to deny that The Fam bugs the fuck out of me, and the whole Hoth/Franklin/southcoast09 thing (rabid assholes who actively make the quality of other threads worse by posting) gets on my nerves. I'm not going to claim that I'm above that, like Hoth and his hyperbolic lies about how everyone else is wrong and jealous and unhealthy in comparison to him. That's a flaw I have, and I admit that. I've seen KiwiTerraRizing make some good posts as of late, and some Fam members are just sort of there, but the way that four or five morons take it to the top of everything and make it so visible and annoying is fucking garbage.

Third, JamesX being the only person to care about a Go_Totodile user poll? Franklin/Hoth had a world-class meltdown in Franklin's first user poll, where a giant majority of people said they disliked him, to the point that the caterwauling and bitching from the opposition in that thread took it to like 500 posts. They got so ridiculous that Go_Totodile made a second poll, which also got an insane majority of "dislike" votes, and Hoth made the same stink in that topic - as well as claim that Franklin got 200 positive votes in the now-purged first poll. JamesX being the only Fam member to care about his poll results is absolute bullshit. Though I'll absolutely give you guys credit for kicking that fuck-stick JamesNog/JamesX out of your book club.

I have railed against southcoast09 in a thread before, where he threatened to talk about all these "embarrassing" threads I had been making. I openly stated the non-standard or vulnerable topics I had posted or been involved with, and I dared him to dig up some shit from GameFAQs that I was ashamed of. I goaded him a second time when he didn't respond, bumping the thread in the process, and he never responded - because the shitty, annoying head members of The Fam are all self-important brain-dead chaff who bring nothing of worth to the table.

You never did anything to single me out, but you posted some fine examples of yourself being a self-obsessed asshole to other people - which is why I called you on your bullshit in the first place. You do the whole "well, well, well!" act now, but you don't have a fucking thing on me. You talk like you're in control, like you have the 'upper hand' or some shit, but you're hollow in character and in message. The most you can do is goad me into making a big angry message like this, and even if you take credit for it, I'm angry and sick anyway. I want to spew some hot garbage at an easy target.

If the results of this poll didn't matter, you and your friends wouldn't have blown it up to 300 posts.

“The idea is not to show sexual organs in action but rather to move away from a glorified image and show that sex is a nice and intimate situation that can often be a bit clumsy without being dangerous,” Elvsåshagen said.

This is actually a pretty noble goal. It resets expectations for sex, probably for teens who have been polled as having viewed pornography in the first place - so when they do have sex, guys don't expect to jam the whole thing in like they're feeding a log into a wood-chipper, and women don't feel weird for not automatically behaving like porn actresses do because their hole has dick in it. Even if teens have lowered expectations for sex, seeing a situation that's "standard" has a chance of making someone's first time more homely and special instead of disappointing for not being a great big fuck party.

Waiting In The Summer is a pretty good show, it's cheesy but it's good. The first episode comes off as kind of pervy, but it shapes up by the second episode. I've also heard good things about ToraDora, though I never finished the series (lost the subs I was using, felt weird about swapping over to another group).

Sasameki Koto is also a great yuri show as I mentioned. Clean, subdued art style, fairly short (too short, even, considering the manga - but if you dislike it, there's less to watch so you can knock it out in one go) and not a total perv show like Sakura Trick.

There's also Kimi ni Todoke, though I think I stopped being a big fan after I left high school.

Oh shit, is Golden Time really one of the best ones? If so, I'm going to have to postpone it so I can watch the shit ones first.

Golden Time is pretty dope. The setting is a bit non-standard, being set in college rather than high-school (so the characters have a life as adults outside of school), there are some pretty heartfelt twists, and while - as other people have mentioned - there is a supernatural twist that turns some people off, the payoff at the end of the series for that twist is fucking incredible.

I will say, though that the ending itself is a bit weak. But otherwise it's a surprisingly solid show - I downloaded an episode because it sounded like mediocre trash, back when I downloaded trashy-sounding anime for a laugh like a bad movie night, but it exceeded my expectations and I ended up watching the whole series. I like it more than Your Lie In April, though YMMV on that front.

Waiting in the Summer is a good show. You have to watch past the first episode though, it can give off the wrong impression.

If you're down with Yuri, I recommend Sasameki Koto. It's a short series, it's funny and cute without being pervy, and it's got a very clean, down-to-earth art style.

What is their example of pro-America speech? Because you can preface anything with "I say this because I love America", and when you receive backlash for whatever you said, you can respond with "Typical *so&so group*, taking me down because they hate America. Look at this example and despair, patriots - this country is rotten to the core, and only we can make it better!"

I'm not giving that video a click, because I don't want to add to its views counter and because I don't want similar suggestions shitting up my recommended feed. But I'm going to guess that the controversy involves Trump, alt-right rallies, confederate statues and/or refugees.

tbh at this point you need to be real and have a discussion. if you dont want to get married you need to say something and see if your relationship will still continue, if you do then you should get on it.

worst thing you can do at this point is just keep stringing her along until shes X years old and has been dating you for a long time, asking when you'll propose and you saying "hmmmmm soon i hope" and basically wasting both of your time - her because she wants to get married & you because you could be with a girl that shares your views potentially.

if you have ring questions you can PM me or ask here because I bought one last year and know a few things, and for the wedding you dont have to spend 15 - 20k, thats a misconception. things can be done for much cheaper if you are willing to do more planning

This is a great answer, major respect to Romulox.

I want to say, though, if she wants to get married - why not propose to you?

I get that it's seen as a man's privilege or duty or whatever, but I think it's more in line with the tradition of proposal than asking a guy to propose first. In today's world, talking it through like Romulox suggested is a great way to do it, absolutely - but I wonder why asking someone to propose is more of a thing than proposing to the person you're asking in the first place.

Yeah, it was.

Honestly, as far back as season 5 or 6? It still could have worked. But with how the show built The Mother's reveal up in the last season, seeing scenes of them together and being perfect for each other, only for this character to be killed off and throw Ted back towards Robin after the show states, time and time again, that they don't work together? It felt like a kick in the teeth for all that build-up to be for nothing, to have Robin and Barney's season-long wedding arc be unravelled in the last two episodes of the show.

You see signs of the Mother dying a couple seasons before, in that episode where Narrator!Ted breaks the narrative and has his past self run to where she lives. He clearly loves her dearly, and you get a sense that she's not around any more because he made the effort to contact her early and spend as much time as possible with her. It was planned - but after one too many Robin/Ted relationship snafus, it felt idiotic to have the end of the show go back to that, after all the maturing they did over season 9. After Barney shapes up and commits to Robin in the last episode of the wedding arc, they break up within the span of an episode and Barney gets another girl pregnant. This dream girl that you've been waiting to see for the entire show, dying right at the end, for Ted to pursue Robin as the final girl? It felt like a kick in the pants.

I've been playing South Park: The Stick of Truth on and off recently. I'm not very far, but I've liked what I've played. However, I finished the spaceship segment a few hours ago, and I'm pretty bummed about the censored scenes.

I should mention, I'm not a loud-mouthed flailing "free speech! corrupt government officials decide what content the sheeple get to see!!" type. I'm for free speech, but a lot of arguments regarding free speech and censorship in video games comes across as alarmist and self-important. Take Australian Target banning GTAV, for example - dumb, yes, but critical free speech violation like some alarmists made it out to be? No. Literally every other games retailer in the country provided the game, you could freely purchase the game online and from all other sources. For a more controversial opinion, I didn't give two shits when the Western version of Fire Emblem Echoes removed the touchscreen petting mode - it was kind of unnecessary, and it barely changes the game. I don't think regional differences and one retailer in a sea of many not stocking a game are particularly egregious - honestly, Mortal Kombat 9 was a worse offender than either of them, it was considered contraband and completely illegal to own in Australia before we got our R rating for games - the Coast Guard were on lookout for the game. That was a much more straightforward example of censorship regarding video games, and it's cases that extreme where I sympathise with the anti-censorship crowd and join in.

With that in mind, I want to mention South Park: The Stick of Truth and its censoring of several scenes.

When it comes to censorship in media, as far as bleeps go, I'm not necessarily offended by it. Cutting objectionable content out of TV shows or games and altering the whole package is where my beef lies, but a bit of crafty coverage or a replacement joke? Not always terrible. I was raised on South Park where the swearing was bleeped, so I do find some level of humor in a bleep - because of that, I didn't expect to miss the cut content in the Stick of Truth so much.

But the issue is that it is just a blank screen with a crying koala on it. If they had left the audio in, or Randy improvising a song over it like "do do doo doo~~", I would have had a laugh - it'd be annoying, but hearing Randy Marsh get reamed by an anal probe? That's enough to tickle my funny bone, and I can always look up the scene later if I want to. The censored scenes have some pissy elevator music over them, and when you press the "skip" button to get back into the gameplay, there's no trace of the voice-clips - no tail-end of Randy screaming as he gets his ass blasted by anal probes. It's all cut. And that's disappointing.

I'm currently watching a Vinesauce streamer play FF7, but after I finish that series, I think I'm going to start watching his Stick of Truth streams concurrent to my own gameplay. Being American, his version of the game should still have the cut content, and it's a bonus because I get to hear this dude lose his shit in reaction to said content.

My mum has only ever owned used cars. They work well for a good 5 - 10 years, and you can find a decent little work-horse for a fraction of the price you'd pay for the newest model.

I'm glad to see that there's not a huge anti-used crowd on GameFAQs.

There was no 4 option, so I picked the letter equivalent, D.

Honestly? I don't mind cycling, and the girl is hot. I didn't "win", per se, but it could have been worse. I mean, if I picked A, I'd basically be Paul Blart with a hot GF.

EDIT: Fuck, should have picked E. E fucking wins.

What can we do to help out young misunderstood boys?

legalize prostitution

This

And make it cheap for teens to afford regularly

And fix the god damn social aspect of getting a bf/gf/fwb. It's too much work and it shafts people who legitimately do not like social activities.

Actually, prostitution is legal in Australia to a degree. Places like Sydney and Canberra have brothels, and there are also escort places where you can go in or pay more for an out-call.

There's nothing stopping this guy from going to a prostitute aside from money troubles, but a guy with the time and resources to create a cache of homemade guns to commit terror should have no problem with funding. He feels frustrated and shitty because he has no marketable skills in order to interact with women, and the fact that he can't land women out in the wild is what's frustrating him. If anything, there needs to be a shift in the public's perception of prostitution - people see it as "cheating", or not counting, or they consider prostitutes dirty for sleeping with so many men. They don't accept the possibility of paying for sex because they're so accustomed to the idea of asking women out and being in relationships, or going out and landing a root with one's own wit and skill.

There's nothing that you can do with these cases, because their mindset and entitlement issues are tied to a flawed personality. They won't go to a prostitute because they're too "above" that, but they're inherently unattractive through their abhorrent personal views and unwillingness to change or see a bigger picture - so outside of a similarly batshit crazy woman (who'd probably help a guy like this shoot up a shopping centre), they're doomed to sexual frustration because they don't appeal to women on any level.

I went to a concert last year and this guy was just singing his ass off for two hours straight, no backtrack. Only two brief interludes. He deserves all the things coming to him

He seems like a cool guy. Good luck to him.

Wasting the police's time, probably trying to heighten tensions between different races, and making himself out to be a victim - what a shitty, self-centred scumbag. You don't "accidentally" tell the police that a black man stabbed you over a haircut after stabbing yourself, you think about how you can make the biggest fuss and you lie like a little bitch.

Fuck this guy. I hope he gets slapped with a four-figure fine, if not a little more.

Compared to the crop of relevant pop stars we have today (Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris) and other pop groups like The Chainsmokers and Daft Punk (who have become a much more widespread force in American pop music than they ever were before the 2010's), how does Bruno Mars stand up?

I actually like his retro-infused songs much better than Ed Sheeran's indie white-boy rapping, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift's concurrent "edgy" periods or the combined efforts of David Guetta and Calvin Harris. Feels is a good song, but I'm not hot on a lot of Calvin Harris' other junk - meanwhile, I generally enjoy Bruno Mars' output, aside from a few stinkers like Grenade and the (once-decent, now overplayed to the point of no return) Lazy Song. Bruno Mars has a cool retro aesthetic and the chops to back it up, which is more than I can say for "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone, because she's DEAD >:D" Taylor Swift and "Swish swish" Katy Perry, or Calvin Harris sampling songs from 50+ years ago and adding a dogshit build-up and bass drop to it (Shot Me Down).

Out of the 2010's most visible pop stars, who do you think is the best and/or most bearable in comparison to the rest?

I use them when I want to go and get snacks, and I love that I don't have to make awkward eye contact or pretend to be cheery when I'm buying some random crap for me to eat. Scan your shit, bag it, put your money where the money goes and you're golden - it's all automated, and you take it at your own speed.

Self-checkout lanes are the easiest things to use. The only time you might need/want someone to run your shopping through and bag it all for you is when you have produce or a whole shopping cart full of shit - or if you just prefer the human connection, which is fine too. Otherwise, self-checkout lanes are simple enough for a child to use them. I genuinely don't get how people feel like these machines are condescending or a way to tell people how stupid they are.
