Yeah, I would've if I'd noticed. It's not a huge deal though because all gimmicks start at borderline needing to be changed anyway when you start the game and I like having my creativity stat high so most of the gimmick reassignments should do well.

It just feels kinda cheap in a way cause all my guys are gonna get bonuses for gimmick changes when only half should.

Well I would appreciate something ridiculous like that.

I'm just saying most of the roster is "Old School Heel" or "Old School Face" or "Extremist" rather than what they actually are in TNA. That means I'm doing double the gimmick changes as usual cause I'm first correcting gimmicks I don't want to radically change to something that's more fitting, and then on top of that there are my vintage "off the wall" gimmick changes.

I'm pretty sure like 90% of the roster I keep is going to have their gimmick changed in the next month.

I would suggest that if I could trust myself to keep up with Tom, even doing one show to his four!

Well technically I have Explosion too but it's only 30 minutes so I'm just not going to post those and do them effortlessly.

Also uhhh man TNA's roster is so dumb. I'm pretty sure the roster is like 70% face if you ignore authority figures and such. Expect a lot of TURNS. Also gimmick changes because the gimmicks are almost all generic for whatever reason-- more generic than TNA I mean. (And then on top of that some of them are bad)

Don't expect a great show since I'm trying to transition storylines out now/twist them into my vision. I don't care if you guys don't remember what was happening with TNA it matters to me dammit! Next show will be the PPV where I finish what was in place and start doing what I want to do with it (which I probably setup better with one show than TNA usually does.)

Impact October Week 1:

Pre-show:

Hulk Hogan cuts a promo saying he'll never claim to leave the fans again, brother, and TNA's going to reach new heights, brother! (81) Samoa Joe d. Gunner (63)

SHOWTIME:

Robert Roode is gloating with Fortune about how he overcame all of Kurt Angle's challenges and how the faction didn't implode like Kurt wanted. Immortal comes out and Kurt is about to talk, but then Jarrett says "we'll just see about how well you didn't implode, how about you team up with your beer buddy and face me and Kurt!" Roode accepts, and then he and James Storm talk about Jarrett taking Angle's woman and laugh it up. Kurt glares at Jarrett while Bischoff plays peacemaker. (67)

Styles d. Austin Aries in a match where Tenay and Tazz hype that for some reason the winner gets a title shot of their choice (75) After the match, Styles tells Daniels he's going to go for the Tag Titles and he wants Daniels to be his partner, to prove that they're stronger as a team than trying to one up each other. Daniels agrees as long as AJ will have a warm-up tag match with him tonight against an opponent of Daniels' choice. AJ agrees. (78)

Mickie James and Velvet Sky d. ODB and Jackie while Velvet is empowered from having the Mickie James help her out in defeating the bullies~ (71)

Bully Ray's a bully and Anderson's an ass. There is much yelling. They book each other in matches for warm-ups for their battle at the PPV because everyone has booking power in TNA (72) Mr. Anderson d. Bully's choice Scott Steiner-- after the match Bully uses Steiner's chainmail helmet to beat down Anderson cause he lost his chain somewhere. "HUH?" Steiner disapproves of using his ring gear as a weapon but they calm down. (63)

Kendrick d. Kid Kash to retain the X-Division title (56) RVD looks around backstage and finds something in Jeff Hardy's locker. He looks concerned. (73)

Bully Ray d. Anderson's choice D-Von pretty easily. (65)

AJ Styles and Daniels come to the ring for their match. Their opponents? Angelina Love and Winter! AJ Styles is like "what the hell is this" to Daniels and won't fight "for real" and Winter gets the upper hand, then Daniels tags himself in, obliterates Winter and Love and quickly gets the win. (73) After the match, AJ checks on them, and Daniels waffles him with a chair and cuts a promo about how he made this match explicitly to show how weak AJ is, how he can't go all out if it'd upset anyone and that's why he hasn't been relevant for months. He'll never team with a weakling like AJ! (76)

Mexican America try to light a US flag on fire, Jeff Hardy stumbles out the backstage area and grabs the flag! What a hero! He then fakes throwing it to each side of the audience! RVD rushes out and bails Jeff Hardy out before he gets mauled by Mexican America. (62)

Beer Money d. Angle and Jarrett after Angle nails Jarrett with the Angle slam due to being blinded by... something...? Or maybe he was just shouting he was blind... WHO KNOWS~ (76)

Sting brings out a contract for Hogan, Bischoff, Dixie, and he to sign. If Hogan wins he and Bischoff keep TNA and Sting is fired, if Sting wins Hogan and Bischoff give the company back to Dixie. Hogan and Bischoff read it carefully, then sign, then Sting shrugs and randomly hits Bischoff in the knee with his bat to "liven this contract signing up!" (67)

Overall: 71, Success!

Random notes:

Every match I did got a penalty for low risk content, due to them all being gimmickless singles/tag matches. Time to turn Daredevil down a bit so this doesn't happen, cause last I checked not all of TNA's matches are gimmick matches!
Sting's "gimmick change" to anti-hero got 84 (what's with this guy and giving so much of the roster 'old school face/heel' as their gimmick)
Kendrick's "gimmick change" to eccentric got 88
Daniels's heel turn was a complete success
TNA Impact tapes on Monday in this mod so none of my hires/fires got put through yet. On the PPV, perhaps...!

Raw got 87, Superstars got 65. Yeah, better than Superstars! TNA! TNA! TNA!

Gen shall forever be that guy I made a fool of in mercs by blatantly lying to his face and screwing him out of a deal, and no one gave a damn because "it's Gen." Good times for everybody. Though I guess if mercs didn't exist I'd probably agree with the post's sentiment.

... and that I don't particularly agree with your defenses-- though I will say for the "he's boring" thing it has nothing to do with his not being a chosen one or anything like that-- that's why "he doesn't do anything/is clueless." It's all about his personality for why he's boring. Terra's more boring than him though so it's not like he even claims the "most boring main" title.

This is something anyone with a serious women's division should do, anyway. The Women's Division push is roughly equivalent to the Lower Midcard push, which really limits what you can do with them.

Yeah me trying to make it more true to TNA didn't have anything to do with that... I was just doing that so I could have a flexible women's division, but I just brought it up because I didn't feel like that was actually changing anything as much as correcting it.

Upped match ratio (TV) to 60%
Extended expected match lengths a bit for TV
Changed women's division to integrated (this is totally closer to what TNA does anyway)
Made product definition more "SWERVElike" (basically upped cult so I wouldn't get the "fans want simple gimmicks" message) while keeping the TNA feel there (high Daredevil/Modern and equally rated on performance/popularity I felt were the important TNAish things there)

Looked at pushes, only changed the things that made immediate sense (like Christy Hemme as an announcer instead of an authority figure).

More importantly looked at the ridiculous roster and decided to change my philosophy to one hire + fire per show allowed, but only one per month allowed to not be someone who's been in TNA before.

Won't promise a show tonight but one could happen!

Oh sweet Hogan and Bischoff being tossed out/Hogan's face turn/Sting taking over hasn't happened yet.

For reader benefits current storylines that were going on, and in parenthesis what TNA did with it.

Sting is working to get a match with Hogan the next PPV using Jokeresque mindgames, for control of the company. (Hogan turns good after Sting beats him, Dixie gets her company back and Sting is the authority figure from here on in)
Bully Ray hates Anderson. (Anderson beats him and then is soon never heard from again)
Velvet Sky is doing the "I'm persevere through being bullied" thing. (She wins the title)
Jerry Lynn is interfering in RVD's matches for some reason. (RVD beats Lynn in a match)
Angle vs Roode at the BFG PPV because Roode won the BFG Series (Angle wins only for Roode to win next week on Impact!)

This is probably the perfect PPV to take over for in the last year.

Alright looks like TNA wins, which makes me happy because I would rather do that readership concerns not being a problem. Also looks like "hire Glacier" wins which is excellent as well.

Time to refresh myself on what TNA's storylines were in August-October so I can make the transition realistic.

On the plus side with TNA I only need to do like one show to Tom's 4 so this may be a somewhat realistic goal to keep up with him.

So yeah I guess I wanna do a poll too to everyone who cares about my sideshow booking. Idea is going to be similar to Tom where I start having the current storylines and then steer them off as I see fit. My limit is going to be one hire/fire per month to prevent me from mutilating the show too much talentwise. I'll probably ask user input on those too prevent Daffney vs Glacier from being the main event too quickly.

What would you rather me book?
A. WWE
B. TNA
C. Who cares

When should I start the booking timeline?
A. October so I can run in parallel to Tom (he'll totally dust me though)
B. Roughly "current" from when I start
C. Roughly "current" from where Tom is when I start
D. Who cares

Who should my first hire/fire be?
No letterz all write-in.

Well how much the "real life" start matters depends on you. Rosters have to be set at some point in time based on what the database you get is based on, unless you wanna create a database from scratch (lol), but you can also edit the databases to start your own organization in there or heavily edit rosters of existing feds before starting (work-- less work in EWR), or just make so many hires/fires/tweaks to start the game that it doesn't matter aside from stats and how good your organization starts.

I mean as far as current state of storylines and such Tom/myself are just doing that to make it "realistic" or something they aren't stored or anything.

I don't actually have a preference to WWE and TNA. WWE has the benefit of me (and the readerbase) being more familiar with the storylines and roster, but TNA has more room for improvement so might be more satisfying to book and also has less potential overlap with anything Tom might do (I don't know if the latter will actually matter for how much I enjoy it though-- somehow I don't see us having very similar ideas ever!)

I might've given Punk's old theme a vote if I didn't try to limit my votes to new stuff from this year for themes.

I can't state enough how much better it was than Cult of Personality in pretty much every aspect except for Cult of Personality being a better song. But as a wrestling theme and fitting Punk's character (I don't care what Punk says-- CoP only works for lyrics) it was a lot better.

Aang's rocks aren't to be underestimated. They can totally bring down buildings and ships if concentrated right. And yeah firebending can help too.

I just see it more likely that Aang finds a weak point on Sin and drills it before Sin actually gets any offense on him.

And the debris from Sin wrecking through things doesn't ever hit Sin's vulnerable spots because he's not an idiot. It's not really the same as a guy shooting rocks at you all concentrated like. I'd also argue that Aang's output beats debris falling on you considering the rocks he can hurl have momentum higher than gravity and a few feet should get you.

Sheamus isn't actually a bad vote for most improved. I at least see it having more merit than Zack Ryder who actually hasn't changed at all. Sheamus sorta had the R-Truth mode of improvement going-- changing gimmicks/alignments and working it well. Reason I think R-Truth is so much more deserving is he changed his character more and changed from borderline unwatchable to excellent whereas Sheamus was pretty decent as a heel too.

Yeah I don't know why people are down on the Jericho thing. It was brilliant. It was dumb at first, then crossed the line into really dumb, back into amazing. That's seriously the best way I can imagine him coming back aside from Jericho coming back like a goofball like he did and having Brock or someone destroy him as the "real" source behind the vignettes, which would be not a great debut for Jericho but a great debut for the other guy and gives you two guys vs one.

Jericho can totally go into cult leader mode from here, or drugged up Jeff Hardy wannabe spoof, or a few other directions. All of which are better than "generic return promo #7 after resounding crowd ovation" like it was looking like.

R-Truth has totally improved this year. Getting a new gimmick that doesn't suck and working it well is improvement-- even if it's not totally driven by the guy himself. For me, R-Truth, Cody Rhodes, and Bully Ray were the only three guys I thought were in contention for most improved, considering just how much more watchable they've all become.

More people should've voted R-Truth vs Little Jimmy for feud of the year.

More people should've voted R-Truth wrestler of the year.

Glad Winter's theme won to prevent a WWE sweep at least.

Also I take offense to not being in consideration for the best player. Despite my cards looking nonsensical I do know what I'm doing! Daffney was at A over last diary (starting from D) and her record was like 3-11 I believe. The power of strong storylines/angles!

By the way, I have been meaning to ask someone who isn't terrible at TEW like I am this question for a while now: How do you constantly put your main eventers against each other and have a winner without the loser suffering overness-wise? Better yet, how do you not just book by the numbers and not always just hand the wins to the worker with higher overness? Whenever I have someone with lower overness beat someone with higher overness, it causes such a big overness penalty to the loser that it ends up just not being worth it, so I end up with really formulaic cards with no upsets ever, and it bores me.

Anyway the best way I've found to have main eventers lose to lower guys and still maintain their overness is to just use them in a lot of angles. Unless you're playing in an angleless fed realize that angles will benefit everyone involved in them overnesswise as long as the angles play to the strengths. Basically the idea is to feel free to take your guys at like A over down a peg unless you're building them for a big event-- like if you're working to a big Orton/Henry match, you can afford to knock Cena down a bit to elevate an upper midcarder, then build him back up through interviews/good matches before he is the focus of your brand again. This is harder to do with high over guys that don't have high interview stats (or wrestling stats if you've got good guys to work with them) to build themselves back up though. As long as you don't do stuff like have John Cena lose to Santino at random the overness hit should be recoverable (these matches don't gain you much for the winner, either).

Momentum also helps, here. A dude a bit lower in the card with A momentum won't hurt Cena as much by beating him I don't think.

Also don't underestimate the benefit of just having an open match that's good and having your lower guy lose. You will actually gain overness from losses if you book good matches/feuds.

I don't like Tom's solution of "keep strong" though-- in my experience it always tanks the match rating more than it's worth. You save the losing guy some overness but I think it gives the winner less overness too so it's like "why bother." Just have the higher over guy win if you can't hack giving him a bit of an over hit.

Cool stuff. So is the idea that you're going to take over storylines as they were at October and drive them a different way or what? Based on this card I kinda think no but figured I'd ask since some of them do seem relevant to back then like Mason Ryan being involved in the Vickie group.

Morrison
Sin Cara/Air Boom
Nash
Ziggler/Swagger
Beth/Natalya/Nikkie/Brie/Maryse
Punk
Del Rio/Henry
BONUS (2 points): Alex Riley

Also I may book TNA in here for giggles (or WWE if people would rather see me do that due to not caring about TNA)-- I would say I'd stay true to the storylines at first and then steer them out, which I might, but no one even knows TNA storylines anyway so.

STAY TUNED in any case. <_<

Aang

Eventually he punches some rocks through the (relatively) squishy head. Really don't see Sin being able to hit him, but yeah Aang should be able to get through him with earth bending eventually.
