I'm just saying most of the roster is "Old School Heel" or "Old School Face" or "Extremist" rather than what they actually are in TNA. That means I'm doing double the gimmick changes as usual cause I'm first correcting gimmicks I don't want to radically change to something that's more fitting, and then on top of that there are my vintage "off the wall" gimmick changes.

Yeahhh... that's the second big problem with this mod. You should probably have fixed that before the game.

The biggest problem is that nearly everyone worth a damn on the roster has multiple, major addictions that really kill their ratings. Real to life or not, it's a damn pain to deal with.

Yeah, I would've if I'd noticed. It's not a huge deal though because all gimmicks start at borderline needing to be changed anyway when you start the game and I like having my creativity stat high so most of the gimmick reassignments should do well.

It just feels kinda cheap in a way cause all my guys are gonna get bonuses for gimmick changes when only half should.

So I started my SHIMMER campaign (it was a tie between that and CZW with one vote each, but CZW only has three shows programmed in all year, so I just went with SHIMMER), but we don't have a show until Week 3, so I'm just gonna wait for y'all to catch up I guess. In the mean time, notes from SHIMMER creative:

Franchise Players: Orton, Serena Deeb, Cheerleader Melissa, Sara Del Ray, Ayako Hamada, Mercedes Martinez
-Take notes, Tom. These are all potential employees of WWE.

Next Big Things: None

Hot Prospects: Portuguese Princess Ariel, Mia Yim, Ayumi Kurihara, Leva Bates
-Yikes, never had less than five people in this category before. The bottom two are "Dark Horses" for success, too. This is... not good for the future of women's wrestling. Although to be fair, demoting Deeb to the midcard puts her in here. Still, better hire some young talent.

Talk the Talk: None
-Ahahahahaha.

Show Stoppers: Ayako Hamada, Sara Del Ray, Cheerleader Melissa, Saraya Knight

Ring Generals: Cheerleader Melissa, Ayako Hamada, Sara Del Ray, Saraya Knight

Who's Hot: Allison Danger, Ayako Hamada, Nikki Roxx, Madison Eagles, Mercedes Martinez.

Who's Not: Rachel Summerlyn, Jessie McKay, Mia Yim, Saraya Knight, Jessie Brook

Time Decline: None
-Huh. Also a first.

Hidden Gems: Jillian Hall, Gail Kim, Candice Michelle, Taryn Terrell, Lacey Von Erich
-Pretty sure most of their paychecks would put me in the red, but we'll see.

WWE Superstars
October Week 1, 2011

Pre-show: Young d. Curtis (53, great chemistry); Usos d. Reks/Hawkins (48)

-Match: O'Neil and Watson v. JTG and Primo
JTG keeps yelling at Primo until he has enough and slaps him. Meanwhile, the faces win.
Rating: 59
Primo's face turn was a success!

-Primo is tired of being in other people's shadows, and wants to make a name for himself on his own merits. JTG calls him a loser.
Rating: 50

-Match: McIntyre d. Jackson
Rating: 66

-Tyson Kidd is not going to be shuffled aside. He may not have a match, he may not have a partner, but he is not going away.
Rating: 56

-Match: Bryan v. Slater
Nice long match, with Bryan getting the eventual win.
Rating; 67
Match too long for midcarders. I stuck the Spanish announcers on here, and apparently they have awesome chemistry.

-Bryan reminds us that he IS kinda Mr. MitB and the best in the world and all. He's hit a rough patch, but he's got time to battle out of it before he challenges for the title at Wrestlemania, and he WILL battle out of it because he's the best wrestler in the world.
Rating: 76

Overall: 64

From the Bookerman:
-The nice thing about B-shows like Superstars is that you can make them as sucky as you want and it won't hurt you any. I plan to take advantage of that and get my undercard some exposure. It's the only chance some of these guys will have.
-This is how Superstars will generally work- random cross-brand throwaway matches with little storyline. Just wrestling. In the near future, I'm turning it into NXT, but for now it's just the reject corner.
-Which will be a bit awkward, actually. Our Product settings require 15 minutes for ME matches, but the crowd didn't enjoy seeing 16 minutes of Bryan/Slater because they're only midcard. Might have to bring in some bigger names for the ME, then.
-...oh lawd I forgot how much the steroids thing sucks for WWE

NEWSWIRE

-New Japan held their big Golden Eagle Battle last night. Tanahashi d. Nakamura to retain his IWGP title to cap off a solid card otherwise full of title changes. Liger and Kanemoto won the tag belts in their debut match, Yoshihashi and Yujiro won the Jr. Heavyweight tag titles, and Riki Choshu brought home MVP's IC title.

-Impact got a 71 rating. The card had some stinkers, but Anderson/Styles in the main event went a long way towards saving the show.

-TNA has released Al Snow.

-Mike Kehner has been cut from both DGUSA and EVOLVE.

-NJPW joined in the fun, sacking Marty Asami.

-Inoki Genome Federation put on a very promising show to kick off their Revenge Tour. Although nobody is quite sure why Jerome Le Banner is calling his belt the Super Luxurious 200 Million Yen Title, he successfully defended it against Minoru.

-We caught up with Vince McMahon today to ascertain his goals for the company going forward. (Read: We got assigned some Owner Goals, which will restrict what we're able to do if we don't wanna get in trouble >_>) He promised that WWE would weather the recession without going into debt and remain the premier wrestling federation in the world. He also expressed an interest in finding unknown young talent, rather than raiding major competitors. He's very specific about what he wants from the indies, however- he maintains that WWE is no place for "flippy spot monkeys" or criminals.

Too easy! Predictabol!

Also a few things you should know. Well, actually only one thing, because I forgot the other. The "suggested match time" thing only pertains to who's in the match. You're not supposed to have 15 minute main event matches, you're supposed to make sure matches featuring main eventers are 15 minutes. If you're doing a B Show where the main event of the card features midcarders or whatever, it only has to be 9 minutes (or whatever the medium match setting is).

I turn off owner goals. I hate owner goals. They get stupid.

From: Lopen | #109
I wonder if the AI eats a bunch of match penalties or if it has all gimmick matches as TNA or if it doesn't get them due to AI hax.

You never see gimmick matches when you look at AI cards, and you're just more or less supposed to assume they happened. It's because the computer can't actually tell which gimmick matches would be appropriate, since it has no idea what a "Sin City Super Soaker" match entails. If it did actually have to pick specific matches, a hardcore fed might pick that match just because it has high risk and some injury chance. I'm pretty sure they do get hammered with addiction penalties, though, so Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, and Jeff Hardy are still sinking their ratings. I think.

Ryder (via DQ)
Dibiase/Kidd
Zeke v. Brodus
Sin Cara
Natalya
Sheamus

I always make myself the owner. The owner does things that are too trollish even if you turn the goals off. "Hey we're making $5 million a month but sorry I won't let you go above to $5k PPA for Stone Cold Steve Austin even though he'd be the best wrestler on our roster and we've already got a few guys that are less good at that level."

I thought that before too, but I noticed the game would still complain about match lengths, and then I read on the GDS forums that it actually works the way I described. If you have a match between two main eventers and it's only as long as the medium match listing, the description will call it a "short" or "extremely short" match, and the dirt sheet will list a penalty for match length, whereas the game won't even mention the length if it's two midcarders, and it'll say the match was "too long given who was involved" if it was, like, lower midcarders vs enhancement talent or worse.

Smackdown!
Week 1, Oct 2011

Pre-show: Usos d. Young/Mahal (54); Barrett d. Watson (72)

-Teddy Long welcomes Laurinitis to SD. That said, he's the GM of Smackdown and he's a bit concerned that Truth and Miz are here tonight. Laurinitis pulls rank and tells Long to deal with it, because he's tired of the unfair treatment they receive.
Rating: 66

-Cody comes out and complains that he has to defend against Ryder of all people. He calls Ryder a joke and berates him for plastering his ugly face all over the internet.
Rating: 68

-US Title: Cody (c) v. Ryder
Ryder looks like he has a legitimate shot, but one of Cody's baggers puts a bag over his head while he's calling for the Rough Ryder, causing a DQ.
Rating: 73

-Ryder's won the match, but not the title, and to make matters worse, Cody continues the assault as Ryder struggles with the bag! He leaves Ryder lying in the ring with the bag still on.
Rating: 68

-Match: Bryan and Yoshi v. Dibiase and Kidd
This here's what we in the biz call a filler match. Bryan gets the LeBelle Lock on Dibiase and it's over.
Rating: 69

-Orton is backstage with Laurinitis, and he complains about Awesome Truth being here tonight. Laurinitis tells him that if he has such a big problem with them, he can fight them!
Rating: 72

-Match: Jackson v. Clay
Brodus Clay gets a huge win in a battle of the useless hosses.
Rating: 52
Poor psychology

-Christian is tired of having Sheamus around, so he wants to settle things TONIGHT!
Rating: 78

-Match: Sin Cara v. Sin Cara II
Sin Cara gets a win.
Rating: 63
Poor psychology

-But II jumps him afterwards oh noooo
Rating: 73

-Match: Natalya d. Alicia
goodness I booked a lot of filler
Rating: 58

-Natalya tries to show off by beating Alicia down further, but Alicia fights back and it degenerates into a catfight.
Rating: 66

-Match: Sheamus v. Christian
Christian just can't get anything going for an extended period of time, and the Celtic Warrior puts him away.
Rating: 82

-Match: Orton v. Awesome Truth
Orton does a decent job battling the numbers game, and mounts a comeback late in the match. He hits RKO's on both heels, but decides to go for a punt instead of a win. Mark Henry comes out in that moment and lumbers slowly to the ring. Orton's distracted for a second, and then whiffs the punt. It's all downhill from there, and Truth gets the pin.
Rating: 87

-Henry laughs and heads to the back as Truth and Miz jump on Orton like a pair of hyenas. After a lengthy beatdown segment, though, Orton's able to land a surprise RKO on Truth and scare off Miz.
Rating: 96

Overall: 77, success

From the Bookerman:

-Well, the good news is that Book has good chemistry with both Matthews AND Striker, his current partners in the SD! announce booth. That's pretty awesome.
-The bad news is that Matthews is not quite good enough to be calling the high-end matches. Hopefully he improves quickly, because I don't really want Cole on both shows even if I'm not pushing him.
-Hm, some pretty poor psychology. That's annoying.
-I am pretty disappointed with that tag match. I am used to booking more indy-ish feds in this game, so I occasionally expect midcard matches to do better than they do with WWE. Their product prioritizes popularity over skill.
-I happened to glance at the ideal roster screen and we are pretty short on workers. I am not sure what to do with that...we have a bunch of people coming off injury soon, and I will be collecting people for NXT, so that should put us over the threshold, but I don't want to take penalties in the meantime, but hiring enough people to fix it will give us a big surplus when the injuries heal and NXT starts. That's not a horrible thing, though, and I can always boot people to OVW. I'll see what's available. The owner goals aren't going to make it easy by any stretch.

NEWSWIRE

-NOAH kicked off their Powerslave Tour with a bang, giving Kensuke Sasaki the GHC Title and featuring a solid Openweight Hardcore Title defense to boot.

-NJPW's Firehouse Tour also started off with a solid card full of title matches. Naito and Taguchi took home the Jr. Heavyweight tag titles and AKIRA the Jr. Heavyweight.

-IGF put on a decent show as well, highlighting their surprising depth of roster for a promotion of their size.

-TNA Xplosion was slightly underwhelming, with Kazarian failing to carry Gunner Scott to an impressive match.

-PWG has picked up Larry Zybysko. He's issued a statement that he is looking forward to joining their announce team.

-TNA has released road agent Pat Kenney.

-Reports indicate that Luke Gallows has broken his ankle at the recent IGF show.

-CHIKARA has picked up Armando Alejandro Estrada.

-There have been many rumors swirling about concerning Ted Dibiase Sr. but we can confirm that he has signed a contract with NJPW.

-In a shock move, TNA has sacked Eric Bischoff. It remains to be seen what will happen to the remainder of the new guard.

-Y'know, I don't think it's worth it to write up every single tour show for the Japanese promotions, so I will just mention the noteworthy ones.

-AJPW's most recent showing, Fear is Eliminated, failed to impress despite several solid matches in the midcard. The show DID have Kaz Hayashi winning the World Junior title and KENSO and BUSHI emerging victorious for the All Asia Tag Titles.

-NOAH's newest tag team is KENTA and Nakajima, who have already captured the Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles.

-FCW is progressing well, and they have put the FCW Title on Xavier Woods. Could the former Consequences Creed be bound for the big stage?

-NWA From Hollywood got a 47.

Also looks like I need to actually book a show so I don't fall behind.

I'm gonna try and keep up with the 1:4 so I'll probably do this.

Monday Night Raw
Week 2, Oct. 2011

Pre-show: Slater disses Gabriel (74); Ziggler/Maxine d. Curtis/Eve (56); Vickie hypes up her stable (68)

-Nash starts the show in the ring to say that he's back on the roster and here to stay! He's going to be bringing a little chaos to Raw, and hopes HHH doesn't mind. HHH appears to inform him that he DOES in fact mind, and that if he's going to be an active wrestler now, he can team up with his little anarchist buddy Punk against Cena and Morrison!
Rating: 80

-Match: Gabriel d. Slater
Rating: 65

-Gabriel offers Slater a handshake, but Slater kicks him in the gut and smacks him around a bit.
Rating: 56

-Match: Mason Ryan v. Swagger
Ryan has the upper hand until Vickie and Ziggler make the save from ringside, causing the DQ.
Rating: 63

-Vickie and her cronies put the boots to Ryan and pose over him with the US title.
Rating: 77

-Match: Primo v. JTG
JTG gets revenge for Superstars last week with a decisive win.
Rating: 63

-JTG gets on the stick and claims he's tired of being held back by weaklings like Primo. It's his time!
Rating: 54

-Match: Air Boom and Kelly v. Otunga, McGillicutty, and Beth
The in-game report has Bourne jobbing to the Glam Slam. This amuses me so I'm going with it.
Rating: 68

-Match: Reks and Hawkins d. Riley and O'Neil
Rating: 55

-Del Rio is out to the ring to save us from all this crappy filler. He says people accuse him of being a paper champion, of not deserving the belt. Tonight, he's going to prove us wrong, as he has hand-picked an opponent tonight for a title match! He will be putting his title on the line against a true legend of the sport!
Rating: 80

-WWE Title: Del Rio (c) v. ???
TOMMY DREAMER makes his way out! Del Rio mocks him and acts like an old man, but it looks like Dreamer might still be able to go to an extent. Dreamer DOES get some offense in, and surprises the cocky champion on multiple occasions, but Del Rio comes out on top all the same.
Rating: 71

-Nash and Punk are backstage. They're not the best of buds, but they need to coexist tonight to survive this match and teach HHH a lesson. Punk's a bit concerned about Nash's age, but Nash assures him he's ready. Punk has an ace in the hole anyway, and pulls out a phone.
Rating: 93

-Match: Cena and Morrison v. Punk and Nash
Punk does most of the legwork for his team, and holds his own impressively against the faces. Cena and Morrison do manage to come back, but only after Nash misses a clothesline and takes out the ref, and we all know what that means. Shenanigans ensue, most notably a runin from CHRIS MASTERS! A tired Cena struggles with the Masterlock on the outside while Morrison gets doubleteamed into oblivion, and Punk gets the cover when the ref wakes up.
Rating: 76

Post-show: Punk and Nash vow to keep shaking things up (100!); Cena/HHH d. Punk/Masters (61)

Overall: 76 SUCCESS

ROM THE BOOKERMAN

-...Man, there is very little depth on the Raw roster right now. I should've realized that when Slater and JTG autopushed to upper midcard, but it took three crappy filler matches to make me realize there might be a reason the real Raw has half the show devoted to HHH with a mic.
-And man, so few people can actually wrestle well. Or rather, so few people are over enough for the fans to care.
-It occurs to me that I haven't solidified an exact motivation for Punk or Nash. I should probably do that since it's my top storyline. >_>
-Obviously, I went the HIRE EVERYBODY route. I'm still a bit short of the "ideal roster" cutoff, but there aren't many people left I want at all. I might call up some FCW guys, but that'll shortchange my NXT potential roster and not add anything to my shows. Or I might just take the penalty.
-I have to admit to going for Hall and X-Pac to join in the fun. <_< Vince wouldn't let me hire X-Pac and Hall was way too greedy in negotiations. IIRC, they're the only ones out of the whole batch I didn't manage to hire.
-Nash and HHH are doing really well and getting over. Nash is probably going to wind up a Main Eventer and HHH will probably get more screen time. I have become the very thing I despise. :\

no time for predictions :\
