Another Disney fun fact - Bambi's mother was originally going to be mounted on Gaston's wall as a hunting trophy! She does appear in the film, but thankfully she's not dead - the deer in the opening scene recycles animation of Bambi's mother.

Bo Rai Cho is the martial arts master who trained Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and an old friend of Raiden. Despite opposing Shao Kahn, he does not compete in the Mortal Kombat tournaments because his victories would count towards Outworld. His unorthodox fighting style incorporates Drunken Fist style, his cane, his big belly (he's pretty acrobatic for a fat guy), and vomiting and farting on his opponents. In his downtime, he enjoys holding kart races around his brewery.

The Snatcher rules over Subcon Forest, where he set traps to capture unwary travellers, forcing them to sign over their souls and do his bidding. If his contracts are broken, he will attack the offender by rapidly causing explosions and shockwaves, throwing volleys of potions, creating numerous clones of his opponent, and turning out the lights then launching a sneak attack while his opponent can't see. He is also clever enough not to make himself vulnerable to attack if he can avoid it. He's not all bad though: when he's in a good mood, he will steal mail and give it to his minions.

When the normally cowardly Shaggy is hypnotized into being brave, he achieves this form, in which he can dodge almost any attack and has incredible reserves of strength, enabling him to perform all sorts of feats using a very small percentage of his power. However, this form requires immense energy to sustain, so Shaggy needs to eat even more food than usual when he uses it. As this is an unconscious state, making Shaggy aware of the dangerous or risky situations he finds himself in can also cause him to drop out of this form.

If UI Shaggy isn't allowed, I'll replace him with someone else. As a joke meme character, he doesn't have any canonical weaknesses, so I came up with some because it wouldn't be much fun if he stomped everyone and it was impossible for him to lose.

I listened to all the songs in the first round, but I had to listen to the songs in the second match again to make a decision. Meanwhile, I'll Make a Man Out of You gets a second match where I feel bad for having to vote against its opponent because I really like both songs.

Impostor Syndrome may be putting it strongly, but I've been in my current job for three years and I still worry about failing something that lets down the rest of the team and proves I'm not good enough.

The Phil Collins talk has got me wondering how he and Michael Bolton would fare in a sing-off. As good as Go the Distance is, I think the Michael Bolton version's even better!

I considered Pink Elephants, but it didn't feel right for me to vote for it when the actual song part of the video is pretty short.

It occured to me earlier today that Freakazoid is owned by WB, and now he's shot to the top of my most-wanted list. He could be this game's equivalent of Deadpool in Marvel VS Capcom, using the UI as part of his moveset and acknowledging that he's in a game. He could also have an attack where he summons Cosgrove, who tells the opposing team "Hey, cut it out" and they get stunned.

A Martian from Mars Attacks! would also be fun, but their rayguns couldn't be one hit kills here for obvious reasons.

Detective Pikachu could be the Sora of the game, a character who seems impossible to get because they involve negotiations with a powerful and influential third party.

Let it Go vs One Jump Ahead was my first tough one, but I have to give Let it Go props because it was meant to be Elsa's villain song in the "Evil Elsa" version of Frozen, sung at the point in the film where she realises everyone will hate and fear her no matter what she does and decides to embrace it and become the monster everyone sees her as. However, it was too sympathetic, but they didn't want to cut the song or change it at the risk of losing its lightning in a bottle status. Then again, I'm still not 100% sold on my decision, and may well have gone with One Jump Ahead on a different day.

I voted for Mortal Kombat. I had heard that the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes were good, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed everything in between too.

Alicia Vikander carried Tomb Raider just enough for me to be interested in the sequel, which is supposedly still coming at some point.

Detective Pikachu is elevated by the world-building. They really went all out on making it feel like a Pokemon world, when it would have been much easier (and probably more box office friendly) to just do our world with a handful of the most popular Gen 1 Pokemon added.

Sonic was also a lot of fun and better than expected. Jim Carrey steals the show.

I've been playing Doom 2016 recently, and it's been fantastic. I really like how fast-paced it feels, and how it throws multiple different enemy types at you in the same battle, each with different strategies to deal with them so that you're kept on your toes. Because I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to get as many of the trophies as possible from it. This turned out to be more difficult than I'd anticipated.

After my first blind playthrough, I used the level select to replay all the levels and find everything I'd missed first time around. This is where the problem started, as I didn't get the trophy for finding all runes, but I did get the later one for upgrading all the runes. It turned out this is a commonly buggy achievement across all versions of the game. For it to count, you have to get all runes on your first playthrough, if you miss some and go back to find them in level select, or find a rune, but complete the associated challenge later through the menu, you don't get the achievement. Online multiplayer and mapmaker might also mess it up, but I haven't played those yet, so it's not relevant in this case.

With that in mind, I deleted the game and reinstalled without patches, because apparently some of those could possibly bug trophies too, chose an empty save slot and played through most of the game again. I did this in two sittings, the first three levels in one day, then levels 4-9 (the levels that have runes in them) on another day. I didn't get the trophy this time either!

The thought of a missing trophy that I should have gotten, along with me having one that comes later that requires the first one as a pre-requisite, was quite annoying to me, so I decided to try one last time. I made a few changes for attempt number 4, trying to cover all possibilities that could have caused me to not get the trophy before. First, I backed up my completed save before deleting it and the profile data and starting a completely fresh file. Second, I did the whole game up to level 9 in one sitting. Since everything was fresh in my mind, I could go through pretty quickly, and it took me around 4 hours to play through from the beginning. Finally, I didn't equip or use any of the runes I found as I progressed, just in case upgrading some of them causes them to not count as you having those runes in the code. This time, it worked!

I have the online multiplayer and mapmaker trophies left to do now before I get the Platinum trophy, but I think I'll take a short break before I do those, because after 4 playthroughs in quick succession, I'm all ripped and torn out for the time being! I should probably play something a bit more wholesome as a palate cleanser. Has anyone else got stories of buggy achievements or trophies they encountered, and were you able to work around them or not?
