I guess maybe they start incorporating more elements of the games into it later on but tbh I've never been a fan of the Trevor-era games (Dracula's Curse & Curse of Darkness) to begin with. I had heard that the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes were good, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed everything in between too. Alicia Vikander carried Tomb Raider just enough for me to be interested in the sequel, which is supposedly still coming at some point. Detective Pikachu is elevated by the world-building. They really went all out on making it feel like a Pokemon world, when it would have been much easier (and probably more box office friendly) to just do our world with a handful of the most popular Gen 1 Pokemon added. Arcane has been very good so far, but it's so early. Who knows if they can maintain this quality as it goes on. I voted for Castlevania because, like the game series, most of the world might not know it even exists but it's just plain solid as a whole. I do think Arcane has the ability to totally surpass it, but it's too soon to know for sure. UF8 11/24/21 11:26:05 PM #40:	oh yeah i just remembered anime adaptations lol regarding vn adaptations i guess planetarian's was passable. aokana, utaware mask of deception and girls beyond the wasteland's ones had problems but were ok on their own. need to get back to yu-no and higurashi new at some point (well probably just the latter i think yu-no's was just bad) regarding real videogame adaptations, there have been some legit short comedy ones like with Onigiri... but the rest i've seen have generally sucked lol (ace attorney/pso2/ao oni and the ao oni movie/akiba's trip/kancolle/both touken ranbu adaptations/caligula/conception/sakura wars etc) and regarding adaptations of mobile (and especially idol) games... a lot of good ones actually. 18if was cool, hagane orchestra was a lot like onigiri's adaptation but better, kemono friends... would've been an excellent option for the poll if it counted (~~putting aside kemono friends 2~~...). even the short anime adaptations of the original mobile game as well as kemono friends 3 were alright. uma musume is surprisingly decent, ragnastrike angels is criminally underrated for a series of 30 second ads, (s1's a bit old now but) rage of bahamut's production values were abnormally high considering how basic the game is and the yuri spinoff is easily one of the best yuri slice of life anime in the last 5 years, princess connect re:dive's adaptation kind of tried to be konosuba and nearly pulled it off, i love show by rock and monster sonic and re:stage a LOT (bold for emphasis) oh yeah and i guess magia record exists too my favourite one though is merc storia's adaptation <cite>UF8 posted [p:960327017] in Best recen...
