Was the death setting reduced from high at the start, or does the death setting only apply to events? The ending sentence of this chapter implies that something big will go down next time, either the arena event or the feast.

The Entei movie is my favourite too for the same reasons as OP. I watched it again recently having not seen it since it came out, and was surprised at how good it was. Not "Good for fans, but for anyone else gouging your own eyes out is more fun" or "Good by Pokemon standards", but genuinely good. My head says that Molly shouldn't have gotten everything she wanted at the end because she was the villain and somewhat spoilt, but my heart says she's so young and gone through so much, so I can't begrudge her happiness, especially since she was selfish rather than malicious. Not many Pokemon villains can boast about having shades of grey in their characterisation. I also quite liked the female trainer Ash battled at the start even if she was a very minor character. I wouldn't have minded her coming back in the series once in a while. It's a shame Pokemon doesn't have recurring characters very often.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the first three films were the most ambitious and cinematic, while most of the later ones feel more like feature-length episodes. My theory is that this is because the first three films take one of the core ideals of the franchise and takes it to an extreme.
* In the first movie, Pokemon battles go from fun tests of skill to a battle to the death where the Pokemon slug each other until one of them falls down, courtesy of Mewtwo and his clone army.
* In the second movie, catching Pokemon isn't a mutual bonding process between trainer and Pokemon, as instead of using Pokeballs, the villain goes after the legendary birds in an airship, shooting at them with a cannon, and them trapping them in inhumane electrified cages.
* The third film puts a darker spin on a trainer going on their Pokemon journey. What if something happens to them while on their journey, like if they're hurt or killed? Who will ever find out, or be able to help them? Molly's father going missing on an expedition kicks off the entire plot, and now Molly is an orphan for all she knows.

I haven't seen all the movies, but from the ones I've seen, I'd rank them as follows: Entei > Lucario > Mewtwo > Latias > Lugia > Zoroark > Darkrai > Deoxys > Volcanion > Jirachi > Celebi > Shaymin. Generally speaking, if there's any Pokemon movie whose popularity benefits from nostalgia, it's the Mewtwo one.

Fittingly for a guy with an insect theme deck, Weevil is a major creep, who thinks very highly of himself and treats others like dirt. He isn't a bad duelist, which is easy to forget considering his win/loss ratio, but he is the biggest cheater in the series, doing things like keeping the new rules of Duelist Kingdom to himself so that Yugi would be at a disadvantage in their duel. Worse than this is that he also sabotages his opponent's deck, such as when he asked to look at Yugi's Exodia cards then threw them into the ocean, or when he slipped an insect virus card into Joey's deck before their duel.

His arrogant demeanor, shrill voice and cheating streak combine to make him a character in desperate need of a slap, so I'm nominating him in the hope that I'll get to watch him squirm.

Then again, I didn't know he had an actual name and would have nominated him as Not Important, after the "My name is not important" line in the trailer, so I wasn't the most qualified person to nominate him anyway. Fortunately, he wasn't my first choice. My first choice is...

Gon (Tekken 3)



Gon is a guest character from a manga series that isn't very well known in the West. I don't have anything against Gon based on what little I know of the source material, so my reasoning is based purely on his appearance in Tekken 3. First off, he's a blasphemous short character, the kind that tears balance a new one, and picking him almost constitutes cheating (See also, Oddjob in Goldeneye 64, or the monkeys in Timesplitters 2). Gon can nip at your ankles all day, while the rest of the cast can only hit him with crouching moves, which won't do much damage.

The second, and more important reason: Gon's inclusion is the sole reason that the Playstation version of Tekken 3 can never be re-released. He was a funny joke at the time, but he wasn't worth it in the long run, as he's from a time before guest characters were future-proofed.

Predator

If i remember, the next theme is Hatred - nominating our most hated characters to see them die. I already know who I've got in mind, but it's a secret for now.

Rooting for Uncle, but would be happy with Clara winning too. It just sucks that one of them will probably kill the other.

It's fitting that Uncle Chan and Quan Chi should battle to the death in the next chapter. After all, magic must defeat magic!

Also, clever reference to Baraka's Mortal Kombat 4 ending at the end of the battle with Cassandra.

Is Quan Chi the only tribute left now who hasn't gotten a kill yet?

Bendy needs to die now. Dude killed a baby!

Deadly Alliance Hype!

We got Rick and Bird Person together, now we just need HIM and Quan Chi to team up for a Deadly Alliance.

I hope Uncle Chan's meditation taught him how to be a good parent.

If one of my noms had to die, I'm glad it was to the balloon. Also, since Scaramouche is dead, I'm hoping Grunkle Stan can be Rick's new rival.

I originally came here to disagree, but when you put it like that, I can't disagree with that logic. Not to mention, in the last level Aragorn can summon the Army of the Dead and OHKO every enemy at once. It's the Middle Earth equivalent of Knights of the Round, complete with absurdly long attack animation.

Since I chose a character from a new, well known, good cartoon last time, this time I'll go with a character from an old, obscure, bad cartoon.

Quan Chi (Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm)



I nominate him because his first appearance was in this cartoon, but he proved popular enough to be carried over to the games. Not bad, considering he only appeared in one episode. Animated Quan Chi differs from his game counterpart in that he's a shapeshifter, and he has a staff that can turn into a snake and a magic gem that can turn people against each other and reveal their darkest secrets. (Did you know Jax used to be the fattest kid in school, and bullies nicknamed him Blubber Butt? You do now.)
